There are a host of good/bad ones today!

A lot of Weather and earthquakes:

  • 2004 – A powerful earthquake and its aftershocks hit Niigata Prefecture in northern Japan, killing 35 people, injuring 2,200, and leaving 85,000 homeless or evacuated.
  • 2011 – A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Van Province, Turkey, killing 582 people and injuring thousands.
  • 2015 – The lowest sea-level pressure in the Western Hemisphere, and the highest reliably-measured non-tornadic sustained winds, are recorded in Hurricane Patricia, which strikes Mexico hours later, killing at least 13 and causing over $280 million in damages.

1973 – The Watergate scandal: US President Richard M. Nixon agrees to turn over subpoenaed audio tapes of his Oval Office conversations.

I remember listening to John Dean's testimony  at the hearing, and he casually mentioned the tapes.

I thought "wow, the smoking gun  … but Nixon won't allow access to it "

Thanks Carl!

Here's another excellent one:

1915Women's suffrage: In New York City, 25,000–33,000 women march on Fifth Avenue to advocate their right to vote.

It's mind boggling to think that women in this country did not have the right to vote just 100 years ago!

… and they are probably going to decide who wins the next Presidential election.

Carl,

Looks like there are around 6.5 million more women than men in this country. At your age there are over twice as many women than men..............congrats on beating the odds!

More interesting demographics below. With the % white going down and % minorities going up in the future(whites will be less than 50% in 2050 for instance)...........a statistic that IS going to happen, with almost absolute, 100% certainty in my opinion, a guy like Donald Trump will have no chance down the road.

Love or hate him while you can as he has managed to win some key short term battles over the past 2 years, which might continue for awhile but the changing world and progressives will win the war.........it's inevitable. Old white people will die and be replaced with people who have different values.

"There were about 125.9 million adult women in the United States in 2014. The number of men was 119.4 million. At age 85 and older, there were almost twice as many women as men (4 million vs. 2.1 million)."

Here's another interesting stat. Protestants are around 50% of the population, Christians over 75%. Those numbers are falling and the "No Religion" is growing the fastest.
