I'll channel the author.

"Hi, I am an extreme leftist who vilifies the Electoral College while championing the 17th amendment.  In other words,  while I don't understand the intent or the wisdom of the founders or the contents of the constitution,  I hate it all and want to change it all because it continues to keep the US from becoming a socialist workers utopia like Venezuela.  And as a socialist,  I freely admit that I have no clue as to how economics actually work"

Thanks for the smile, Tim.  It has been said that a joke is most funny when it cuts closest to the truth.

cfdr,

I clicked your post to see if we were going to have an honest discussion.  I guess we are going back to the deranged stuff.  ...  sigh

IMHO, those two cartoons summed up the situation nicely.  Sometimes a cartoon can make a point much better than a whole lot of words.

Now, this is my opinion (and, very probably not Carl's), but the first cartoon sums up socialism as good as anything I've seen.  It just plain does not work very well.  When you take incentive to work out of the equation, you've lost your main driver for an economy.

The second cartoon sums up what I think about the Obama administration.  Again, I voted for the man the first time.  I was so sick of W that I foolishly thought - Obama is smart - he'll figure it out.  It took me a long time (too long) to see that he had a completely different view of America than most working people here.  He appeared content to see jobs shipped overseas.  I came to see where he hated the working middle class, and approved of its destruction.  In foreign policy, I do not understand how anyone could believe that he was anything but a disaster.

And so, yes, I do think those two cartoons are very much a part of having "an honest discussion."

If you can't laugh at yourself, you'll find that everyone else is.

Very good observation, Carl.  And, even we don't agree about the cartoons.

Prosperity comes from a majority working, to the best of their abilities, in serving their own self interests.  The butcher does not provide quality meat at the best price he can afford out of the goodness of his heart.
