2006 – The first of a series of floods strikes Malaysia. The death toll of all flooding is at least 118, with over 400,000 people displaced.

Climate change right?

No one event can be blamed on climate change but the almost entirely beneficial warming of the atmosphere of 1 deg. C over the past 150 years, does allow it to hold 5-7% more H2O which has increased heavy downpours and flooding. One of the few legit negatives to the weather...........which has featured the best conditions for life on this planet over the past 40 years, since the Medieval Warm Period that was this warm 1,000 years ago.

CO2 levels have increased from a dangerously low level(for life) of 280 parts per million at the start of the Industrial Revolution, to the much better 410 ppm.

The optimal level of CO2 for life is double the current level.

List of deadliest floods.

Look at the years of these unprecedented events, well before CO2 levels increased. In the top 30 events listed, only 1 has occurred in the last 2 decades.

The flood noted in "This day in history" does not seem to be listed but if it was, it would be in 167th place on the list.

The #1 event is mind boggling!

1931 China floods

Huai River floods were a series of devastating floods that occurred in the Republic of China. They were some of the deadliest floods in history, and together formed one of the most lethal natural disasters of the 20th century,[4] excluding pandemics and famines.[1] Estimates of the total death toll range from 422,499[5] to between 3.7 million and 4 million.

1932 – The Chicago Bears defeat the Portsmouth Spartans in the first NFL playoff game to win the NFL Championship.

Anyone want to buy stock in the Portsmouth Spartans ?

Wrong. They are now known as the Detroit Lions.
