"How the Border Between the United States and Mexico Was Established"

Maps of United States and Mexico territories in 1835, 1846, 1848

"Despite the acceptance by many Americans in the 1840s of the concept of Manifest Destiny—that it was the providential right of the United States to expand to the Pacific Ocean—the future boundary between the United States and Mexico was anything but a foregone conclusion."

Here's a suggestion.  Let's give California back to Mexico.  I'm sure they'd fix it right up,  and there's no way a dem would ever win the Whitehouse again.  A win/Win.
