come out here to California some day.... the state of Peace, Love and Happiness, and also Hillary Clinton Country....and be bold enough to wear a MAGA hat.... you quite likely will wind up in a hospital. So much for "Peace and Love".....

Or visit one of our Universities and exercise your right to Freedom of Speech, by giving a presentation on Conservatism.... and you will quickly find out that our old academic values of "Openmindedness" and "the American Way" have been replaced by hate and violence... as a matter of fact, they wouldn't even let you give such a speech, because they know that they couldn't protect your life... there would be a bloody riot.

And again we have evidence that Trump’s tactic of deflect, don’t defend,  has gained acceptance in everyday conversation.

If Mr Trump fails to gain a second term I sure hope he accepts the outcome.  Does anyone think Trump would be as patriotic as Al Gore was ?

I certainly don’t. He may be laying the foundation now. I don’t think he can plan that far ahead but who knows.

I always chuckle a little when folks talk about the second amendment and resisting government tyranny, but maybe.

Gunter, your topic is a good one, maybe start a new thread.

Don’t have twitter or Facebook so I can’t verify this:

This is the type of talk we don’t need.

The tone was set awhile ago. 45 shows no remorse for what he says.

Can anyone defend Steve King ?

I know he’s a darling of the right. Without Trump he would just be a wack-job nobody cares about.

Trump isn’t President of the United States because there no longer are “united” states. He’s a leader only of the red side. The great US leader and easily the greatest POTUS in my lifetime, Ronald Reagan, was nothing of the sort and is probably “turning over in his grave” so to speak.

Aside: his talking about the American hero McCain in the ugly fashion he’s doing again is utterly despicable. Why is he doing this again?

The extreme liberals/socialists on the blue side are not the solution. Furthermore, the identity based politics of the Dem party are not at all unifying. They do the exact opposite of unifying. These were dominant during Obama’s term.

We need someone like Kasich or Biden ASAP!

To the folks who wouldn’t want a Kasich or Biden as our next POTUS, why not? Do you want the US to survive and or would you rather we dissolve?

To MAGA, there has to remain an actual “America”.

Some “red” or “blue” states are close to 51-49 one way or another.

It can’t be a north/south or east/west deal, although it could be a rural/urban divide.

I think some of the  disenfranchised white folks who follow Trump are as much mourning the loss of the rural identity of the United States.

We are an urban country people, and with it all that implies. Gun rights for example are more popular in the rural areas, the urban areas mostly favor more restrictions.

The second amendment people who espouse the right to confront an overreach of government scare me. Right, like your AR will stop a determined federal government.

I don’t think it is a valid concern anyway. Unless Trump decides not to leave, then wouldn’t it be ironic that the gun rights folks would be acting to support a run away federal government.
