'The special counsel’s office also reported Department of Justice spending that supported its activities, stating that it wasn’t legally required to do so and that those expenditures would have occurred regardless of whether or not the special counsel’s office was conducting an investigation. If those additional expenditures are taken into account, the final estimate for the cost of the Mueller investigation reaches around $31m."

metmike: As we know now, the democrats are planning now to do their own investigations..........actually they have already started.................when it became obvious that the Mueller investigation was not going to give them what they wanted and they have the power to do it.

House Democrats demand documents from more than 80 people and institutions affiliated with Trump

"House Democrats’ far-reaching document request seeking information from President Trump’s sons, his business associates and his political confidants opened a sprawling investigation Monday and cast a spotlight on the ambitious strategy of the committee with the authority to impeach a president.

The House Judiciary Committee sent more than 80 letters demanding all communications from a host of controversies surrounding Trump, as the panel probes whether the president and his administration have engaged in obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power.

But rather than a targeted approach, Monday’s request was broad, reaching current and former campaign staffers, top Trump Organization officials, even documents and communications of the National Rifle Association and the British consulting firm Cambridge Analytica. The inquiry touched on a wide array of matters, from the president’s business dealings with Russia to the firing of former FBI director James B. Comey to hush payments made to women. Many of those issues are already being examined by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York — not to mention other committees in the House."

and wouldn't it be just if Obama, hil, clapper, brennan, comey, etc would have to stand for that 25 to 35 million dollar fiasco. People have said many a foolish thing about this mess. Maybe {don't hold your breath} thy now understand why the word "novel" was used in describing the origin. I guess its even funnier when they pretend to not understand the origins or the mean spirited way the special council set out to destroy people's lives. They are just content on keeping up faith and whining "Hil was supposed to win" By the way, after accusing Trump of no less than a crime that calls for death Brennan now says he must of got it wrong> Wow the guy is brain dead and was in charge of our intelligence agencies. The absolute arrogance of these people. So we have now the msms, x intelligence officers, even dem congressmen day after day, week after week, spewing nothing but damaging lies and instead of sorrow we get "must of got it wrong"....sorry that is not good enough

as an immigrant, I am now learning how much power Congress has....all forms of communications, all documents can be subpoenaed. Even banks in foreign countries are requested to turn over the account statements of individuals.

I am equally amazed how Hillary Clinton got away with blatantly destroying everything that could incriminate me.

we now know one thing for sure about the Clinton's and the obamas. They will best be remembered for putting the exclamation point on the once thought but not proven "2 forms of justice in our justice system" after this fiasco and the smollet mess its now official...if you are wealthy and a lib anything goes, heck wealthy and and R it sure helps, but wealthy black and gay its easy

White Water investigation went on far longer and cost 40 million (In 1990's $$).

All they got was a confession of consensual oral sex.

Here we are complaining about an investigation that uncovered breaches in the security of our election system by a foreign power.

Bias indeed!

"White Water investigation went on far longer and cost 40 million (In 1990's $$)."

So are you saying then, since there was one other investigation in history that cost even more than this conducted by the other side (and clearly you feel was a waste of money), the 2nd most expensive investigation was justfied by your side?

Either the cost of THIS investigation was justified or it wasn't. It's not based on a comparison with a previous fiasco.

If I'm driving 30mph over the speed limit and a cop pulls me over, telling him that another guy was going 40mph over the speed limit is not relevant.

"Here we are complaining about an investigation that uncovered breaches in the security of our election system by a foreign power"

Seriously?

If that was the objective, then show me all the articles since the release of the report discussing what we learned in that realm and what steps will be taken to stop those breaches in the future.

Those focusing on those breaches and how the Obama administration allowed them to happen.

No, all we cared about was whether Trump colluded with Russia. This was the reason for the investigation and you know it. To spin it and justify it into "well, they found these other crimes that would never have been found and we needed to investigate Russia's interference.

Are you not aware that Russia has been interfering and trying to influence our elections for decades...........and us trying to affect there's.

The reason that everybody wanted this unique investigation, this particular time for this particular election was based on finding evidence of Trump colluding with Russia after his very unexpected win. Actually, the objective was more of allowing the investigation to create a long lived FAKE narrative.........over  2 years long to crucify Trump mercilessly for colluding with Russia in order to make people think the results of the election were not valid because he was a traitor.

Are you denying that this happened?

Here's the thing on these past 2+ years of fake news on Trump colluding with Russia and being a traitor.

It allowed the MSN, democrats and others to label Trump.........to convince millions that this was true.

Being on television for 11 years and having access to years of data, using focus groups and research on peoples viewing habits and opinions, it confirms the fact, that once you get somebody to believe something(to like or dislike a person too)............it takes 10 times the amount of information to get them to go the other way, even if what they believe in is completely bogus.

Those 2 years of assuming Trump was a colluding traitor have carved deep/strong opinions in the heads of tens of millions of Americans. During that time, everything that Trump did was construed immediately to be negative.........because he was a colluding traitor.

Not only was the intended damage done but it lives on because of the human nature element that defines peoples opinions. Especially in this extremely polarized political society where your views line up with one side and the other side is always wrong..............even when the facts to support one side are completely made up to manufacture a reality that does not exist.

This is exactly what the climate crisis is.............as we experience a climate optimum........best weather/climate in the last 1,000 years.

This is exactly what the Jesse Smollett situation was about............manufacture a reality that didn't exist in order to sell a false narrative to people in order to influence their thinking.   Otherwise known as brainwashing.

This absolutely defines our world in almost every realm and by definition, those caught up in the brainwash can't know that it's a big fat brainwash or they would see it.

Let me give you the quintessential example of this principle in a way that you will agree with.

The different religions in the world today.

Christians believe something completely different than Muslims, Jews and other religions also have beliefs that completely contradict the other ones.

Each religion has millions that are absolutely convinced that their religion is the true religion........and they view/interpret the world based on this assumption......because their parents or church or other source, at some point presented a convincing case to them that their religion is THE true religion.

But it's impossible for them all to be right. At the very least, some of the religions have all or most of it wrong...........and all those people 100% convinced of this being the true religion, also have it wrong.

Why can't they see it???

Same reason that people can't see thru the "save the planet"  narrative and the fake "climate crisis". They have been influenced with convincing propaganda and, like a religious belief, have faith that the high priests that indoctrinated them into the cult like thinking of catastrophic man made climate change, are telling the truth.

They are hitting the school aged children especially hard right now. How many of these kids who are convinced that we only have 12 years to save the planet,  will ever have the ability or desire to do the independent research that shows what they have been brainwashed with is bogus? Answer, almost none. Many of them believe in this as much as they believe in gravity. In fact, it's even being sold with similar verbiage by those that hijacked climate science........man made climate change science is as settled as the laws of gravity.

As an atmospheric scientist, this is laughable. To the average person............how would they know otherwise.......especially kids?

Again, when you are part of the brainwash, you don't even think about why there is a need to question what you believe.

This is so with millions of people in labeling President Trump, many of them jumping on board with the increasing bias because of  the brainwashing the last 2 years.

You do know that 93% or so of the reporting on Trump by the MSN is negative. Evidence of the bias and brainwashing. Putting it another way, if you are using a particular source for information, you don't  go there because you don't trust them. If they are continually pounding a negative message about something or someone 93% of the time................it WILL affect your opinion/views.

When it comes to Trump, many in the media have become political activists and abandoned responsible journalism. Interestingly, I think that almost all of them think that they are doing it for a good reason and many are oblivious to how blatantly biased they really are but all of them are keenly aware of ratings and how sensationalism sells.

With freedom of the press, there is no entity that holds sources accountable for being fair, balanced or objective.  The last 2 years has proven that in a big way.

Those unfair, unbalanced and biased sources have been shown to be 93% negative for Trump, many spinning facts and using fake news.

Was Trump right when he said the media is the enemy of the people?

Almost everybody assumed that was just HIS biased opinion because they are attacking him something like 93% of the time.

However, based on objective standards that include giving the American people the truth and being objective, professional jounalists (instead of filling our heads with intentionally distorted information at times) then Trump is absolutely correct.

If you had a physics teacher that was good in most areas but taught you that gravity was not really a valid law, then filled up a balloon with helium and used the floating balloon as proof of your wildly speculative theory, would  this not be a fraudulent teacher, deserving to be fired immediately?

Freedom of the press allows the MSN to do similar things..........with impunity.
