1876 – The first game in the history of the National League was played at the Jefferson Street Grounds in Philadelphia. This game is often pointed to as the beginning of the MLB.

Mike, you probably would have bet that I would pick this one ... just as I would have known which one you would pick. <G>

1915 – The use of poison gas in World War I escalates when chlorine gas is released as a chemical weapon in the Second Battle of Ypres.

It didn't happen till 1918, but my Dad was gassed during WWl, and it bothered him for the rest of his life.

Afraid so, Mike. All of his brothers and sisters lived to be in their eighties and nineties, but he passed away at sixty-five.

Yes I did think you would pick that one Carl.

Sorry to hear your dad had those problems. Was he unlucky? Some of his buddies that got killed probably just happened to be several feet away, so maybe he was lucky?

There would be no Berky on MarketForum or in other places, including the place where you live.so from my perspective, we were lucky that it happened that way!
