we lost a long time giant in politics. Years ago Lugar was a common sense kind of conservative. Sad that after spending so many years inside the DC beltway we hardly recognized him lately...and never saw him much in the state that supported him for 50 years as he rarely came back or even had a residence and his politics drifted way left of what he left here with

as I stated earlier....years ago Lugar was a common sense conservative.....after a 1/2 century inside the beltway he lost his way...which explains his late musings...well that and his acute alcoholism and dementia.
