Robert Mueller breaks silence, does not want to testify, says charging Trump 'not an option'

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/special-counsel-robert-mueller-make-statement-amid-democratic/story?id=63344952

The special counsel said he was speaking out because his "investigation is complete," his office is "formally closing" and that he is "resigning from the Department of Justice to return to private life."

With regard to whether the Trump campaign responded to Russian efforts to influence the election, Mueller said "there was insufficient evidence to charge a broader conspiracy."

"Beyond department policy we were guided by principles of fairness. It would be unfair to potentially accuse somebody of a crime when there can be no court resolution of the actual charge," the special counsel said. "That is the office's final position and we will not comment on any other conclusions or hypotheticals about the president."

But a key congressional Democrat said the matter was far from over.

"Given that Special Counsel Mueller was unable to pursue criminal charges against the President, it falls to Congress to respond to the crimes, lies and other wrongdoing of President Trump – and we will do so. No one, not even the President of the United States, is above the law," House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., said in a statement." “He doesn't want to be public in what some people will regard as a political spectacle, I think,” Nadler said in an interview last week with MSNBC, confirming reports from ABC News and other outlets about House Democrats pushing back on DOJ's offer for limited Mueller testimony.

Earlier, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not mention impeachment in a statement responding to Mueller, although she made clear that congressional Democrats would continue their investigations.

“The Special Counsel’s report revealed that the President’s campaign welcomed Russian interference in the election, and laid out eleven instances of the President’s obstruction of the investigation," she continued. "The Congress holds sacred its constitutional responsibility to investigate and hold the President accountable for his abuse of power."

Yippee (-: More investigations for the next 1.5 years and if Trump is re elected, more investigations for the next 5.5 years (-:

Dershowitz Hits Mueller For Putting ‘His Elbow’ ‘On The Scale Of Justice’

https://dailycaller.com/2019/05/29/alan-dershowitz-robert-mueller-donald-trump/

"He began by saying that what Mueller said Wednesday “is worse than the statement made by then FBI Director James Comey regarding Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign,” regarding the recklessness with which she handled classified material.

“He went beyond the conclusion of his report and gave a political gift to Democrats in Congress who are seeking to institute impeachment proceedings against President Trump,” Dershowitz wrote. “By implying that President Trump might have committed obstruction of justice, Mueller effectively invited Democrats to institute impeachment proceedings."

"Dershowitz went on to explain that he previously defended Mueller and viewed him as non-partisan, but he has “now changed my mind.”

He wrote, “By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system.”

Dershowitz: Shame on Robert Mueller for exceeding his role

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/445983-dershowitz-shame-on-robert-mueller-for-exceeding-his-role

"No prosecutor should ever say or do anything for the purpose of helping one party or the other. I cannot imagine a plausible reason why Mueller went beyond his report and gratuitously suggested that President Trump might be guilty, except to help Democrats in Congress and to encourage impeachment talk and action. Shame on Mueller for abusing his position of trust and for allowing himself to be used for such partisan advantage."

It sure looks like viewers told us what they thought of the Mueller report coverage and spin in April>

CNN Sees Its Ratings Crater in April, Reports Say

https://www.theepochtimes.com/cnn-sees-its-ratings-crater-in-april-reports-say_2902278.html

For CNN, in the coveted 25 to 54-year-old demographic, it was the lowest-watched month since August 2015. It was down 41 percent from the previous April

Conservative analysis website Newsbusters pointed out that the ratings drop for MSNBC and CNN likely had to do with special counsel Robert Mueller’s report being released, which found that President Trump didn’t collude with Russia to rig the 2016 election.

“The disastrous news for Russia-obsessed liberals that the Mueller Report would not lead to the immediate end of the Trump presidency must have put CNN’s viewer base in a deep depression,” says the website.

The most-watched show on cable news networks was “Hannity” on Fox News, which had about 3.086 million viewers on average. Next was “Tucker Carlson Tonight” with 2.834 million, which was followed by MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” with 2.630 million.
