What a shock... not. What ever happened to all the Pub debt hawks?

I agree pj.

The rising debt is continuing to be a big problem and Trump is making it worse.

Wasn't the tax cut supposed to bring a windfall of revenue from the expanding economy?

Also, there is no such thing as the Republican party.  It's the Trump party and all the conservatives sold their souls to him.

Revenue is up slightly,  roughly 50 billion over this time last year. And that's a surprise. I would have expected more. The real disappointment here is spending, which is up about 300 billion over the same time last year.

We aren't getting fiscal restraint from either party. The only real difference is in how/where they over spend.

Caveat: It does take a few years  for fiscal policy like this to mature,  but revenue won't matter if we don't show some restraint in spending.

Col1=Month/Yr; Col2=Revenue; Col3=Spending; Col4= Surplus/deficit..negative=Surplus. Not sure why Revenue for Oct-18 is right jutified,cant seem to fix.  rev-252,962, Spending-353,183.

Below is a link to the treasury giving budget numbers back to 1980 (in PDF).  I copy it to excel to do additional analysis.

Surplus/deficit..negative=Surplus
Just wondered why a surplus resulted in a negative number. Subtracting deficit from surplus would give a positive number.

It's the way the page is set up.  Basic accounting shows a credit as a negative.
