Though Boeing has had a great reputation for decades, you're only as good as your last disaster.  It wouldn't surprise me now if some buyers look at the difference between the 2 as the difference between a Fiat and a Lexus.

Boeing aircraft used to be the most reliable aircraft in the world. These planes were built by great aircraft engineers.

the current problems were created by software engineers.
