Anybody else watch them?

I watched for a bit.

On climate change, Biden says that under his plan, in the year 2030, all cars will be electric as  he will be installing 500,000 battery charging stations across the country and this will replace fossil fuels by the year 2030.

So Joe, where do you think all that electricity to charge the car batteries  with will come?

It comes from power plants, which burn fossil fuels to generate it, mostly coal and natural gas .

Currently solar energy used to generate electricity supplies just 1.6% of US energy, with wind supplying 6.6%,  for a total of 8.2% coming from those 2 sources.........very little of which is used for electric cars.

What is U.S. electricity generation by energy source?

https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3

So on what planet, will this be multiplied by something like a factor of 10 to replace current fossil demand for electricity in homes and businesses and another factor of 10 to replace gasoline in vehicles?

We  need 20 times the current amount of solar/wind power and the price we pay for this vs the cheap, abundant and reliable fossil fuels will be much., much higher.

How will this be accomplished?

It's completely inconceivable that we will be able to increase solar and wind power by this much by 2030.

They spent a great deal of time talking about race........Harris, once again attacking Bidden because of actions 40 years ago with regards to a decision of his  about busing.

They all agreed that Trump is a racist and several times got applause when bashing him.

As I've said, looking at the actions and results of the Trump admin,  if he's racist,  he really sux at it.

But of course, we now know that calling a rat infested city "rat infested" is racist..  So, in that regard...

CNN's Democratic debate mocked by some liberal stars, while others pick their winners

One of the best moments of last night was when Andrew Yang responded about climate change:

Andrew Yang urges Americans to move to higher ground because response to climate change is ‘too late’

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/andrew-yang-urges-americans-to-move-to-higher-ground-because-response-to-climate-change-is-too-late-2019-07-31

DETROIT — Andrew Yang says it’s already too late to stop climate change, and that it’s time for Americans to head for the hills.

‘We are too late. We are 10 years too late. We need to do everything we can to start moving the climate in the right direction but we also need to start moving our people to higher ground.’

metmike: All the political positions have become more and more extreme, with many on the left trying to out extreme each other it seems.

A decade ago, we were told that the tipping point for our planet was at + 2.0 deg. C above the preindustrial temperature  and "The science was settled" and the "debate was over" Anybody that disagreed with the +2.0 tipping point number was a "denier" and anti science.

Then, when this was not scary enough to get people to act right away, the settled science was adjusted to a new tipping point.... going down to +1.5 deg. C above the pre industrial temperature........and this was the new settled science and anybody that disagrees with that new number is a denier.

When the planet continued to green up, crop production kept setting records, droughts did not increase, polar bear population exploded higher and life continued to thrive.........we were told that it's even worse than predicted and our current climate optimum based on observations of the real world,is not really an optimum for life, it's actually a climate crisis(that only exists on busted climate model simulations) and the weather and climate is much worse than predicted(even though they will not debate over this and can't show any empirical data that shows we are in the midst of a climate crisis) and if we don't stop using fossil fuels in 12 years, the entire planet will be lost.(not 11 years or 13 years but  exactly 12 years and they know the exact temperature at which this will happen..........+1.5 deg. C above pre industrial levels.......even though it was that warm 1,000 years ago-Medeival WARM Period, 2,000 years ago-Roman WARM Period, 3,500 year ago-Minoan WARM Period and  warmer than that between 9,000 and 5,000 years ago-Holocene Climate Optimum)

Now, apparently that is not extreme enough and we are being told that it's too late.

In this world, the oceans are continuing to increase at the same rate of 1 inch/decade, which is around 1 foot per century. The democrats are on a completely different planet that operates based on their own manufactured science.

Could renewable energy completely replace fossil fuels?

To see the proof of the actual sea level increase in the real world(1 inch/decade-1 foot/century) based on the actual data, go to this climate discussion and scroll down:

Remember when everyone was opposed to illegal immigration and felt that socialism was a bad idea?

I always felt that many/most on the left were lying about that.  I'm becoming more and more convinced that I was right.

You can fully trust your intuition about the left Tim. They have wanted to fundamentally change America into a society of victims since day 1. Only difference is today's group proudly announced it and the sleepy Joe types still do not see it. If these debates proved one thing, the proved the dem party is forever gone. Scoop Jackson has rolled over in his grave.
