US mass shootings: Trump condemns racism and white supremacy

"He called for red flag laws that would allow law enforcement authorities to take away weapons from individuals believed to be a threat to themselves or others.

Mr Trump said government agencies must work together and identify individuals who may commit violent acts, prevent their access to firearms and also suggested involuntary confinement as a way to stop potential attackers."

Trump Condemns Racism, Bigotry and White Supremacy After Weekend Shootings

President makes strongest comments about white supremacy to date; offers no major gun-control proposals

It's good that he exercised control in not responding to the stratospheric hateful  attacks aimed at him by the MSM and democrats the last 2 days, which is often a knee jerk defensive reaction on his part.

MM, you used to be on Tv nightly. What if someone in the msm was trying to brand you as a racist without just cause. I think if you do not defend yourself you will let the other side define you......GEORGE W BUSH  TURNED HIS CHECK TOO MUCH

I disagree mcfarm,

You have to be above all of this when you are in a position that's in the public's eye.

You know the expression, it's not who wins or loses but how you play the game".

In this case, with the president, it really is a game between him and the MSM/democrats. A game which is being played to win the support of Americans. A game to gain power to be able to control and pass agenda.

One side cares nothing about who is right or wrong............as in the Russian investigation or the border crisis or the fake climate crisis and Green New Deal, where they are very wrong but are using strategies that play off those issues to try to turn them into winning issues based on how they play the game.  They have successfully turned being wrong into winning positions.

They are really, really good at playing that game and Trump is bad because he lacks self control, has personality flaws and often reacts poorly  when they push his buttons.

Imagine how popular he would be if he had Obama's personality. Or B.Clinton or Reagan's  with the exact same agenda he has today.

But even with Obama's personality,  the press could still take his statements out of context and/or grossly misrepresent them as was the case with his "Panhandle" comment and a large segment of the population would react as they were told.

I do agree that some restraint on Trump's part would help him greatly.

yep MM nailed it about Trump's personality...he is not a typical pol that is for sure....he could improve there and stay out of certain fights but after what they have tried to do to him for 3 years he would have to become Job

Mr. Trump said government agencies must work together and identify individuals who may commit violent acts, prevent their access to firearms and also suggested involuntary confinement as a way to stop potential attackers.

You would have to be blind, deaf and dumb not to see what that could lead to.

I agree Carl, but in this country,no matter how hard some politicians have tried, you can't deprive an individual of his rights without just cause and due process, no matter how swell the idea may sound.

Carl, don't you find the left's position of accusing our police of being out right racists who go out at night just bored and looking for blacks to shoot dead and now today they want the police to be the only ones remaining to carry guns, shall we say illogical?
