very likely toast. It’s the economy, stupid. With the high number of folks who would never vote for him even in a good economy, he’d have only a very low chance if there is an actual recession, even against one of the more progressive candidates. Keep in mind that we’re kind of overdue for the next recession. Trump had better pray!

Agree Larry!

When our economy was roaring, Trump's many enemies completely ignored it and dwelled on things like the Russian investigation and racism.

His supporters focused on the economy and other positive agenda.

If the economy falters, the haters add that to the Trump bashing repertoire as they ramp up everything else and the supporters will have less to be positive about.

It hard for me to imagine him being elected again because he is not a charismatic, nice person like Obama, Bush's, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Kennedy.

Regardless of agenda, people will vote on likeability(note H.Clintons loss entirely because she sorely lacked in this category)

Nixon was the exception to that rule.

Put more bluntly.

In 2016, we didn't know Trump that well.

We knew Clinton from decades of government service. She is a mean person. Many Dems stayed home or didn't vote because of this.

Now we know Trump. He is even meaner than Clinton. Those same voters that did not vote Clinton WILL vote this time and they will vote NEVER Trump..........so whoever the Dems run will get their vote.

isn't it expected that people like B ill Marr started this recession talk regardless of who in the country a recession would hurt badly....as people like Marr would float right thru with their millions....just as long as it cost Trump the election

With current job creation, job openings, retail and wholesale sales as they are, a recession is a ways off.

But a strong economy is just about Trump's only "claim to fame" so even the hint of a slowdown hurts what appear to be already slim chances.
