#Corn and #wheat export inspections were slightly below expectations last week while #soybeans were in line, albeit at the lower end. Some 140k tonnes of beans were sent to #China. YTD bean shipments are now above last year (but total bookings are well below).
Business was dead until January, but then it picked up later in the year after the goodwill purchases began in December. Usually it's the opposite - not many U.S. #soybeans tend to sail to #China in the 2nd half of the marketing year.
#China wasn't alone in lifting Q4 exports. USA shipped 5.46 mmt of #soybeans to other destinations in Jun-Jul-Aug, well off last year's 9.4 mmt but 2nd highest all time. Leaders: China 6.34 mmt#Mexico 1.25 mmt Indonesia 0.68 mmt Japan 0.51 mmt Egypt 0.37 mmt
