probably not trade related here...

just my unprofessional projection...

if a candidate like warren claims that medicare for all would cost 30-40 trillion over 10 years,... then you can probably assume it will be closer to 50 trillion.   remember, the federal govt is notorious for costs over-runs.  

no matter what they are funding... a war in iraq, medicare for all, a new jet fighter, a new freeway,... at the federal level things almost always cost far more than what anyone expected.  

and if a candidate claims the new tax "x" will raise enough money for plan "D",  we can probably expect that the new tax will bring in far less money than what they had anticipated.  

think about what this means for future budget projections and deficit/debt levels.
