We finished harvest last nite Nov 20 8:30 P:M

It started to rain mid day today so we were happy to be done harvest. We still have some fall tillage we want to complete as we grow COC, so hopefully the rain doesn't stop us for very long. The ground is dry, just greasy on top

Our LP supplier told us we are about the 1st to be done harvest. Can you believe that [nov 20 and one of the 1st done harvest.

I told you Ontario planted a lot of June corn and beans. Our crop insur is mostly designed for a 200 acre system and very out dated but it is what it is, thus many had no choice [no crop insur] but to push the window and plant June crops

Well now the chickens have come home to roost and in more ways than one

Many folks have barely if even started due to very high moisture. This tells me the corn froze and will not dry down

We have 1000's of acres of corn still out in the field [in Ontario] and also 1000;s of acres of beans, mostly because once the calender ran out on corn then more bean acres got planted, then bean harvest equipment could not handle the extra bean acres.

Then just as we had good weather to harvest we got any where from 6" of snow to some places got 12". That took about 10 days before temps warmed up enough to get rid of the snow. As it was, as soon as the snow left the corn stalk, people started going again. Those who could harvest but many are still waiting on 30-40% corn which will not shell properly

Beans are still waiting for drier weather.

Now comes the other shoe to drop. I have read about some of your LP shortages. Well we have an LP shortage. CNN railroad went on strike halting all LP deliveries out of Sarnia Ont. There is a sramble for truck transportation. The strikers will only allow trucks to load who are delivering to home heating, thus all LP corn driers are shut ddown

We heat with LP out of the same tank as the drier uses and our supplier said they would bring us some LP toimorrow. Hopefully that will keep the house going and finish the wet bin. If not the corn is being moved into a smaller bin with a big fan so if needs be, we can use air on the smaller wet bin

So, we will be okay but in just our community, I can count a 1/2 dozen  LP users with crop in the field

Just an update on the good and bad this yr.

Our crop was on average, off by about 20 bu.acre mostly due to June planting and other fields that just up and died due to localized drought. Just 10 miles away they had very good yields. Just how it works some times

thanks for the summary Wayne....glad you got done.

We made it Sunday. Still have some neighbors to help finish. Yes there are plenty of crops yet to harvest. Had a neighbor who had irrigated double crops go 62b/a   ....never heard of such a thing.....plenty of regular beans in the mid forties around.
