Iowa caucus live updates: Results and analysis from the first 2020 Democratic contest

The first-in-the-nation voting state was thrown into chaos late Monday after the Iowa Democratic Party delayed releasing results.

Most Democrats care more about beating Trump than issues, according to an NBC News entrance poll.

Iowa entrance poll: Most Dems care more about beating Trump than issues

About two-thirds of voters participating in the caucuses said they would rather see the Democratic Party nominate a candidate who "can beat Donald Trump."

metmike: This is what I've been saying. The top issue for dems is not the economy or anything other than getting Trump out of office. All the other issues added up still are not even close to the importance of getting Trump out of office.

Of course, every year each party wants to nominate the person that is most electable to president vs the specific person running on the other side..............but not at the expense of overlooking everything else.

Everything else counts in elect-ability of course so its sort of baked in indirectly.

But we know that this huge group of people will support anything that their candidate runs on.........including socialism because it has to be done to beat Trump.

IA Caucuses: 2 man race now. Fairly moderate Mayor Pete very strong today at this betting site vs socialist Bernie, who has fallen sharply. Too close to call. Biden doing very poorly as Pete gets the bulk of moderate voters. But Pete's biggest problem may end up being his lack of black voter support:

so the dems have done the impossible. so screwed up the screwed up Iowa caucus. Given the path for Biden to say its flawed and racist so that's why I lost. Given the hypocrite, arrogant, angry gay guy a chance to run out and say "I won I won" when he knows damn well he did not....given Liz Warren the chance to lose CHEROKEE COUNTY FOR GOD'S SAKE, given Klobshire the chance to run out first and get more press time than she could ever garner on her own..All this while trying to screw the commy Bernie who somehow is running in the dem primary. Holy cow what a mess. And many of you guys think Trump cannot handle this bunch of clowns?
