I lost the audio on my lap top and did not hear very much about the WH virus press release

I did hear the doctor with 30 yrs experience [sorry forgot her name] use the word pandemic twice in her brief statement. Maybe if I had heard the entire WH press release it would make more sense

Does anybody think this word "pandemic" was a poor choice of words or was she trying to warn us of a real pandemic

The word pandemic has some serious ramifications

Just wondering what you all think

Don't worry Wayne. I think like a scientist..............AUTHENTIC facts, observations, science and the truth matter.

I can usually tell the difference between AUTHENTIC facts/science and unsubstantiated, wild speculation.

How about you?

Does it matter to you?

I would leave the post where it is

The use of the word pandemic is disturbing to say the least

Perhaps the good Dr. mis-spoke, but she did have a prepared statement so I don't know what to think

If many others picked up on her words this is a serious statement by the Doctor

I hope she will re-phrase her statement, if it becomes a widely viral some thing or other on social media

Let's hope nobody picked up on her words

Trump says Pelosi trying to create 'panic' with coronavirus comments

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-pelosi-coronavirus

“She’s trying to create a panic and there is no reason to panic,” Trump said. "All they are trying to is get a political advantage, but this shouldn’t be a political thing.”

CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE COVERAGE OF CORONAVIRUS

In a statement Monday night, Pelosi called the president's request for $2.5 billion to tackle the coronavirus “long overdue and completely inadequate to the scale of this emergency.” She said the House would advance "a strong, strategic funding package that fully addresses the scale and seriousness of this public health crisis.”

Trump has faced increased criticism from Democratic lawmakers and some health professionals that he is not doing enough to meet the mounting threat of the coronavirus."

Trump is 100% correct.

The link below provides some great, accurate and updated data.  I copied one of the charts below.......daily deaths.

Alarming??? Not!

Reason to panic?? Not! Just the opposite............why are we being told mostly scary things from CNN, CNBC the dems and others?

Reason to attack Trump for only spending $2,500,000,000  and claiming we need to spend 8,500,000,000, more than 3 times that amount to fight a low risk event?? Not!

Pelosi on Trump’s coronavirus response: Efforts ‘too late’ and ‘anemic’

https://www.politico.com/video/2020/02/26/pelosi-on-trumps-coronavirus-response-efforts-toolate-and-anemic-069728

Pelosi's comments that all these actions by President Trump are too late to save us from the Coronavirus are delutional and a pathetic example of her petty partisan politics being a much higher priority than to work with Trump in the best interest of the American people.

Telling us that we are doomed because of Trump, accomplishes exactly what?

I don't want to incite panic by any means

But: the fact is WHO has repeatedy said we are at the tipping point world wide

How often do they repeat themselves

I would call it a world epidemic not a pandemic

We certainly do not want to create panic in the USA or Canada

However, I would feel better if somebody could assure me supplies of drugs, face masks, hand sanitizer are available and will be available

I don't know if community lock downs will work in our countries

Somebody will go to court and get an injunction, citing severe hardship

From Elizabeth Warren:

Warren introduces bill to redirect wall money to coronavirus

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/484933-warren-introduces-bill-to-redirect-wall-money-to-coronavirus

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) introduced legislation on Thursday to redirect border wall funding to combating the coronavirus.

The bill, according to Warren’s office, would result in approximately $10 billion being shifted from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“Rather than use taxpayer dollars to pay for a monument to hate and division, my bill will help ensure that the federal government has the resources it needs to adequately respond to this emergency,” the 2020 Democratic hopeful said in a statement.

The White House has suggested $2.5 billion to combat the coronavirus, while Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is requesting $8.5 billion.

What number lawmakers will end up at as they negotiate on a supplemental bill remains unclear.

“The United States government must do more to address the spread of the deadly coronavirus in a smart, strategic, and serious way and we stand ready to work in a bipartisan fashion in Congress and with the administration to achieve this necessary goal,” Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Thursday in a joint statement.

“Lives are at stake — this is not the time for name-calling or playing politics,” they added."

1. Not a time for playing politics Pelosi?  Then stop playing politics and intentionally elevating people's fear of the Coronavirus and blaming President Trump for causing what is going to be a disaster. Pelosi started it.........Trump was responding to her attacks.

2. WOW! on this one by Warren for using a serious health threat for 100%  partisan politics. She actually wants to take the 10,000,000,000 of authorized funding for a Republican/Trump project and move it to her project to save lives from the Coronavirus that will turn into an American apocalypse because Trump has only asked for a measly 2,500,000,000 with his starting point for funding.

The Democrats, are intentionally asking for an astronomical number that makes zero common sense at this point based on everything that we know to set up Trump.

Their scheme this time, is to make it look like Trump isn't prepared, so that when we have the inevitable XXXX number of people that get the virus and XX number that die........it will be entirely Trumps fault because he didn't ask for enough money and was not prepared.

I would be willing to bet my house that at the end of this year, the number of lives lost to the Coronavirus in the United States will be just a tiny fraction of the number of lives lost during, even the mildest influenza/flu season............and it won't be because the US wasn't prepared.

I would bet my house and 2 cars that whatever that number is, Trump will be blamed for causing it to be that high. They will invent reasons and then conjure up some false narratives that get repeated by all the MSM..........perfect strategy to defeat Trump in November.

From a climate post earlier that applies here too:

A behavioral economist explains why Elizabeth Holmes might not have felt bad lying about Theranos

https://www.businessinsider.com/theranos-elizabeth-holmes-the-inventor-hbo-psychology-of-lying-dan-ariely-2019-3

  • Participants in the experiment were more likely to lie on behalf of charity than for their own gain, and their responses on a lie detector suggested they were more comfortable doing so when they felt like they were being altruistic.
  • This suggests that it may be easier for people to be dishonest if they think it's for a good cause, as Holmes is accused of doing.

"metmike:  Fake Climate crisis = saving the planet + global socialism =altruistic objective =ends justify the fraudulent schemes/lies!"

Additional application here: metmike: Stopping Trump =saving the planet/United States =Giving power back to democrats = altruistic objective =ends justify the fraudulent schemes/lies!

Pelosi warns: 'Civilization as we know it today is at stake' in 2020 election

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/05/politics/pelosi-cnn-town-hall-impeachment-push/index.html

Washington (CNN)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday that "civilization as we know it today is at stake" in the 2020 presidential election, saying that she does not want to "contemplate" the possibility that President Donald Trump could be elected to serve as second term in office."

These are the exact words and proposed actions based on facts from the democrats above. There are 3+ years of words, actions, investigations, allegations, impeachment and so on that line up exactly with this #1 priority of the dems and MSM.

Schumer: Trump coronavirus response marked by 'towering and dangerous incompetence'

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/484548-schumer-trump-coronavirus-response-marked-by-towering-and-dangerous

The Department of Homeland Security is requesting $2.5 billion. That would be divided between the $1.25 billion in new funding, with the rest to be taken from existing health programs, including $535 million from fighting Ebola.

Democrats have lashed out at the decision to shift money from the Ebola account, with Schumer accusing the administration of “robbing Peter to pay Paul.”

“The Trump administration is scrambling to respond. We have a crisis, and the Trump administration is trying to build an airplane while already in mid-flight,” Schumer added.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) also appeared frustrated after the briefing, saying the administration’s response to the virus is “frightening” and “will cost lives.”

“Many of us were calling for major emergency funding weeks ago and Trump ignored us. Now it’s likely too little and too late,” he added in a tweet.

1.  Democrats are against shifting $535 million from fighting Ebola(which is affecting ZERO people in the US) but ok with shifting 10 billion...............from the wall to Coronavirus.

2. "likely too little and too late"   But there have been ZERO fatalities in the US so far. The US has been doing an excellent job in identifying the 60 people from our country that were infected (45 from a cruise ship in Japan) and quarantining/treating them.

Trump set up a task force back in January along with numerous other measures.

What was the president to have supposedly done differently and what damage would it have averted?

https://www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-coronavirus-us-cases-health-risk-2020-1#two-cases-were-confirmed-in-san-benito-county-california-on-february-2-8

The dems are making stuff up and intentionally trying to scare people in order to misinform people and blame Trump(who has done nothing wrong). They obviously want panic because everything they do and say is  encouraging people to panic.

In a potential emergency, you need calm people making smart decisions based on FACTS and saying communicating things based on authentic science(not crazy alarmist speculation of a very low odds event). The worst thing is to have people in authority acting like chicken littles (the sky is falling) and panicking. Even worse is when you have one group/side battling the other one........trying to use a potential crisis for political agenda instead of working together with the other side.

AP FACT CHECK: Democrats distort coronavirus readiness

https://apnews.com/d36d6c4de29f4d04beda3db00cb46104

*"The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect."

*MIKE BLOOMBERG: “There’s nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. And he’s defunded — he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC, so we don’t have the organization we need. This is a very serious thing.” — debate Tuesday night.

JOE BIDEN, comparing the Obama-Biden administration with now: “We increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget. ... He’s wiped all that out. ... He cut the funding for the entire effort.”

THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC.

*Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. But that decline was set in motion by a congressional budget measure that predates Trump.

The broader point about there being “nobody here” to coordinate the response sells short what’s in place to handle an outbreak.

*The public health system has a playbook to follow for pandemic preparation — regardless of who’s president or whether specific instructions are coming from the White House. Those plans were put into place in anticipation of another flu pandemic, but are designed to work for any respiratory-borne disease.

*Among the health authorities overseeing the work are Dr. Anne Schuchat, CDC’s principal deputy director and a veteran of previous outbreaks, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, NIH’s infectious disease chief who has advised six presidents.

*“The CDC’s response has been excellent, as it has been in the past,” said John Auerbach, president of the nonpartisan Trust for America’s Health, which works with government at all levels to improve the nation’s response to high-risk health crises. Some Democrats have charged that Trump decimated the nation’s public health leadership, but Auerbach said CDC’s top scientific ranks have remained stable during the past three years.

*The U.S. closed borders to travelers from China to buy time as preparations began

How Trump’s Panicky Coronavirus Travel Ban Cost Me $4,000 in 2 Hours to Save My Job

https://observer.com/2020/02/china-coronavirus-trump-travel-ban-affect-us-f1-h1-visa-holder/

The US is barring foreigners who have been to China within the past 14 days and quarantining some returning Americans

https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-us-foreigners-travel-ban-china-2020-1

Coronavirus quarantine, travel ban could backfire, experts fear

The government has broad legal authority to detain people in the name of public health. But politically and diplomatically, it’s more complicated.

"The Trump administration’s quarantine and travel ban in response to the Wuhan coronavirus could undercut international efforts to fight the outbreak by antagonizing Chinese leaders, as well as stigmatizing people of Asian descent, according to a growing chorus of public health experts and lawmakers."

metmike: Too funny that a month ago, Trump was condemned for OVER reacting to the Coronavirus (and antagonizing Asians). Then when the coronavirus started gaining traction/spreading to other countries last week, the same President,  with the exact same policies was condemned for UNDER reacting and responsible for what is going to be a Coronavirus epidemic in the US.

Just some additional facts

When the plane returned, from china, with those stranded people,in china, some had tested positive for the virus

Some  how everybody was loaded on the same plane

I read some place those testing positive were segregated and a sort of blanket or something was used to keep the folks seperated

After they landed, what ever measures were used to separate the infected people was deemed to not be a sufficient protection for the rest of the passengers

Somebody dropped the ball, although I don't think Trump was aware of how the evacuation was going to happen. I think he trusted the folks doing the evacuation and then found out later.

When they landed, at an air force base the front line health care workers did not have proper training nor did they have the proper protection such as mask, gloves etc.

Also some were allowed to wander about and leave the base although this part remains a bit sketchy and I would think false news. Especially leaving the base. I have not tried to follow up on any of this because what ever was done is done and the procedures in place today are much better, or at least that is what we are told

No sense in going back to worry about what could or could not have happened, during and after the evacuation of USA citizens. Although if I tested negative before I got on that plane and then tested positive after I arrived maybe I would have a reason to complain about what happened.

Fable : Chicken Little

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCBIAmtaKuA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henny_Penny

Henny Penny, more commonly known in the United States as Chicken Little and sometimes as   Chicken Licken, is a European folk tale with a moral in the form of a cumulative tale about a chicken who believes that the world is coming to an end. The phrase "The sky is falling!" features prominently in the story, and has passed into the English language as a common idiom indicating a hysterical or mistaken belief that disaster is imminent. Versions of the story go back more than 25 centuries;[1] it continues to be referred to in a variety of media.
