Inspections were as expected last week, and on the higher end of the range for #corn and #soybeans. Some 73kt of beans to #China, and 129kt to Egypt.

U.S. export inspections (proxy for exports) for #corn and #soybeans in 2019/20 compared with prior years. Soybean inspections were really weak in Feb and Mar vs prior years but have improved slightly. The last 2 weeks for corn featured the lowest vol for those weeks since 2013.

U.S. export sales were relatively strong last week.

 #Corn buyers incl. Mexico (545kt), Japan (199kt), S Korea (197kt), and Israel (154kt). #China had 619kt

#soybeans, Egypt bought 194kt. Not the top buyer but #Brazil bought 69kt of old-crop #wheat (was switched from unknown).

Here's a look at total sales for 2019/20 compared with last year.

#Corn sales are down 20% YOY after being down 43% on Jan. 1 and down 26% a month ago.

#Soybeans and #soymeal are off from last year. #Wheat is up, and #soyoil is up big.

#China bought 319kt of #sorghum (incl. 132kt switched from unknown), and that appears to be the largest weekly net sale since Dec. 2017. China also bought 422k RB of #cotton, which if I am not mistaken looks like the largest weekly sale since 2011 or 2012.

Net #pork sales were 50.3kt, incl. 35.1kt to #China. That is the second largest sale of pork to China this year (behind the week ended April 2). Interesting given the pork squeeze that the USA is having/about to have.
