Thank you Mr. President! Why does every frickin thing have to be politicized? Both sides are guilty. Please stop! Of course, it won't because each side's extremes hate the other side more than any other group on the planet imo:

And after GWB called for unity, Trump says this:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-rips-george-w-bush-after-he-calls-for-unity-amid-coronavirus-outbreak/ar-BB13xd1J?ocid=spartanntp

Unity is apparently a bad thing to Trump. I thought he was for a stronger America. Reagan and even GWB he is not!

I have zero respect for him. He needs to be voted out in 2020.

yes, it Will be politicized.  thats life.

allow me to politicize it even further.

here is the crux of the problem.

the western world was getting very close to a depression even before the covid showed up.  growth worldwide was very low.  this is because of too much debt, and too much taxation, too much bureaucracy, etc.

the last thing we need is to intentionally shut down businesses and cast the world into a depression that is even more severe, and comes on faster.

this is why it IS political.  some people do Not realize the precarious state of the world economy, and are Naive enough to thnk that we can shut things down , give handouts, and they do Not realize the massive problems that can be brought on by a world wide depression.

(btw,  i could also explain why the current pandemic is No worse than a bad seasonal flu).remember, there have been bad flu seasons, like 1968, and we did Not shut down the economy.

so some people want the economy to open up,  realizing that it may mean grandma will be at a greater risk.  (but honestly it won't be much worse than just a seasonal flu).

others want to shut down everything, and think the govt can print money to make everything good.

lets think about what a depression means for a moment.  most people today are Not old enough to remember how bad the great depression was in the u.s.a.  ,... but even worse,  ...

the depression in central europe gave rise to fascism, the nazis, WW 2, and the holocaust.  people who want to keep things shut down for longer do Not understand the horrible side effects of what can come from a massive depression.

remember, the depression in germany in the 1920's was as bad as venezuela currently.   i think that anyone who wants to keep our economy shut down for longer should first move to venezuela and live there for a year to understand what they may be propelling us toward.

yes, it IS political.  some people believe that people should Work to support themselves.  others believe that govt can just give handouts so that people can support themselves.    keep things shut down too long, and the side effects will be FAR worse than just have grandma die early.

btw... yes, i think i did have a great grandma die in the flu of 68.  she was late 80's.  if we had shut down the economy in 68, (social distancing to protect the elderly), she may have lived until the flu of 69.

Wonderful words, Pres Bush!. . It’s about time somebody stood up against all the politics, and thanks for posting the link. This virus is a common enemy… it affects us all. At this time, politics should be set aside to fight this enemy together (meaning scientists around the world, and our political parties in the US). Success would come quicker, if we all could work together.

Oops… I am sounding like Candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016.

However, somebody once said “we can’t let a good crisis go to waste”

There are 3 entities that simply cannot let this crisis go to waste

1)  The Democratic Party.

This is not a pro-Trump post… just pointing out facts. On the first day after the 2016 election, the battle cry “Trump must go” could be heard across the country. Just one week after his inauguration, one Dem Representative said “he is on a fast-track to impeachment”. This was quickly followed by a lengthy Russia investigation. When this project failed, it was quickly followed by the Ukraine investigation. This project also failed, and now we have the corona crisis… a time of (in our time) unseen death, economic collapse, unemployment, poverty, social upheaval, fear of the future. All of Trump’s bragging points suddenly vanished. There is no way, the Democratic party can let this opportunity to remove Trump go by the wayside. They must prolong the misery as long as possible, so that no rebound can occur prior to the election. RepSchiff, last week, already blamed Pres Trump for all the corona deaths in the US.

2)   The New World Order guys

Their goal is a one-world government, one-world language, one-world currency and a huge reduction of the human population on planet earth. In the past, they have always been a shadowy group, mentioned mostly in “conspiracy theorist” circles. However, now they are becoming more and more visible, with a world-wide pandemic placing the people and governments of all countries in a state of disarray and fear. Their slogan “depopulation through vaccination” should be heard by all those who anxiously await the arrival of a corona-vaccine. However, the greater the fear, the longer the lock-downs, the more the People of all nations become ready to submit to their demands.

3)  China

China has suffered as much as we have from the corona pandemic. However, it’s no secret…. China would like to become the #1 economic and military power in the world. IMHO, for them, the present situation is a race to rebuild faster than other world powers. Therefore, they would benefit from prolonged chaos in other countries.

In conclusion, China does not have much power to dictated life in the US (to stop or prolong our lock-downs). However, groups one and two do have the capability to do so, by sowing fear.

Sadly, there are many millions, probably tens of million of people  that hate President Trump so much, that they are against things, mainly because he is for them(and vice versa).

An example of that was after Trump banned travelers from China, Nancy Pelosi, in her home state of California went out to Chinatown and did a press release beforehand, so it would be covered by the MSM to draw attention to her opposite position of Trumps........as she told us to join the big crowds because it was safe out there.

I'm not saying that she should have known it was going to get bad(I didn't think it was going to be bad when she was doing this in late Feb) just that the ONLY reason she went out there to do this was because she was trying to paint President Trump as a xenophobe with a publicity stunt. So her position then was not "what's best for the American people with this travel ban" it was "what can I do to make Trump look bad-like a xenophobe/racist because of his decision." BY HAVING THE OPPOSITE POSITION.

It wouldn't have been as bad either if the dems didn't spin a narrative, to tell us that during that time frame, in February that Trump was warned about how bad it was going to get but failed to act.......when numerous dems  were taking the complete opposite position into early March.

Again, purely political and sometimes going out of their way to make it clear that they have the opposite position of Trump(so they can spin up false narratives about his opposite and bad position),  even if it means them, ending up taking a position and doing things they would not have done that turn out to be the bad position.

Pelosi: My Chinatown Visit Didn’t Downplay Coronavirus. It Helped Prevent It

https://freebeacon.com/coronavirus/pelosi-my-chinatown-visit-didnt-downplay-coronavirus-it-helped-prevent-it/

metmike: of course Pelosi is blatantly lying about the above.

The way this thinking works is that the greater his successes/accomplishments are,  the more likely for him to be elected again in November. The more failures that he has, the lower his chances are to get a 2nd term. If Trumps policies fail, unfortunately, it hurts Americans more than anyone.

They justify that with the reasoning that this will result in Trump being replaced and that will good for our country. So it might have to be bad for Americans in the short run, but it will get better after they get power.

But its really a denial of the fact that they hate Trump more than they love our country. This applies to many people in the MSM and very sadly to some elected democrats.

We can all know that Trump will be judged in November based on his handling of the coronavirus and the one realm that he has done the best at.........that, if he is relected again, will be the main reason, is the economy.

The coronavirus has obliterated the economy. Not Trumps fault but every person on the planet knows that this massive success of his is now in the past. The only way that it can be used in his favor is if the economy starts recovering ASAP.

If we are in a depression in November,  instead of a recovering  economy for reasons that people associate with Donald Trump, Trumps chances of being elected are very low.

The longer we stay shut down, the worse it will be on the economy...........the harder it will be for Trump to get elected in November.

Pelosi warns: 'Civilization as we know it today is at stake' in 2020 election

Politicians like Pelosi and Schiff are consumed with stopping Trump in November and will do anything to do it. That includes using the coronovirus and putting their personal political agenda(intense hatred) to stop Trump ahead of the American people and ethical behavior.

The following is spot on imo with regard to Trump’s inability to properly handle his duty of head of state. This person is clearly too liberal for my liking, which can be seen in his critique of GWB policies. However, in this, he compliments GWB for his ability to bring the US together during his presidency and his recent call for unity for the current crisis, which Trump unfortunately criticized:

https://theweek.com/articles/912481/how-george-w-bush-exposed-trumps-biggest-failure

“It's a quality I've come to appreciate, admire, and miss terribly through the civic desert of the Trump administration: the capacity of a president to rise above partisanship to speak from and to the nation as a whole.”

I’m proud to say I voted for GWB twice. This is what he released recently in his call for unity:

 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E6lxKOfn8_E

If you after listening to this can’t feel the huge difference between him and Trump on the issue of trying to unify the country, then I don’t know what else anyone can say to ever convince you.

Hi metmike,

"...Pelosi: My Chinatown Visit Didn’t Downplay Coronavirus. It Helped Prevent It..."

Her mingling with masses of people helped prevent coronavirus????    OMG

I can understand how political hate makes her say things that make Trump look bad. However these nonsensical comments make her look deranged. I am quite sure, she is an intelligent person. She is not stupid. I must then assume that she considers the American People to be stupid to swallow such nonsense

Larry,

I agree with you entirely about Bush #2's message and voted for him twice, despite identifying more as Libertarian then and despite  being somebody vehemently opposed to our political and military interference in the Middle East and his horrible Iraq War and despite being somebody that has always believed in a balanced budget and his big tax cuts that blew the Clinton surplus and chance to pay down the deficit.

However, part of the reason that I went back to voting democrat in 2008-Obama was how the republicans ran the country under Bush(I was a never McCain because he was a "stay in Iraq forever guy")

How much did honesty and integrity and personality/character mean to me back then?  I thought Bush to be loaded with those traits but still did not trust him because, when it counted, they sold us the WMD bs because the swamp wanted a war in Iraq.  How many thousands of families of brave American soldiers lost their son, or husband or dad for no frickin reason, other than a political agenda of that administration, as well as innocent people in Iraq dying for no reason?

I think any republican president at the time would have done the same thing.

I think George Bush is a sincere Christian, very humble and I REALLY, REALLY liked his dad. Bush 1 caused me to re evaluate my life long support for the democratic party. So he came from a great family and I don't want to appear to be knocking him personally.

There is no question that his message is right on and being delivered sincerely by an honest person...........that is almost the complete opposite of President Trump, who's character flaws, dishonesty and all the rest are the opposite of the Bush's.

I cringe when Trump starts rambling with his nauseating, bragging and misstating/exaggerating of facts(facts matter to me-you know that). His impulsive, volatile tweets attacking others.

I totally understand why people find him so easy to hate. 40 years ago, when I was a democrat and capable of hating people, I would hate Trumps guts with passion.

But today, I think about things like, if Trump had been president in 2003, we probably would not have had the Iraq war. I think that even today, his position in the Middle East is more likely to save lives........you can disagree but it's one reason that I will vote for him. If a dispicable arsehole can save thousands of American lives, this scores some political points for me. Of course you know my position on the fake climate crisis. Biggest scientific hoax in history. And his energy policies and so on.

I would give anything for any other person to be the president and have his policies and agenda. This is why I even stated here that I was thinking that if both houses were to impeach Trump(that could never happen) and we had President Pence with the same agenda, I would be happy.

Anybody that hates Trump, probably does not trust or like Mike Pence either but he comes from the same mold as George Bush. He has the perfect unifying, non offensive personality.

If Trump is defeated in November, I will have mixed feelings. One part of me will be saying "good riddance, thank God I don't have to constantly put myself in the position of defending this monster because the monster has rights and the truth matters.

On the other, worse hand, I will be scared for what is next for our country. Massive carbon taxes, expensive energy and fake climate science. Conflicts in the Middle East, loss of energy independence. China and the rest of the world taking advantage of us.  Economy down the tubes.

Probably less divisiveness (for sure a more likeable person) as we unite behind bad policies and a weak economy and socialism.   Believe it or not, I like some of the ideas of socialism, especially with health care as Tim will tell you from our numerous debates, so I have mixed feelings there but this is how I can support the monster.

If one of my children or wife's life was at stake and the only person that could save their lives was a despicable surgeon, who lied all the time, cheated on his wife and I greatly despised, I would not hesitate to elect to have him do the life saving surgery. My personal feelings would not get in the way of him being the best person for that job.

Its  that way with Trump for me. He is the only guy that I can see who has the right agenda to save this country. He might not be honest personally  but his agenda is best for the American people. My personal feelings for him do not disqualify him for being the best person for that job.

I realize that part of that job is PR, likeability and being able to unite the country and he fails miserably there. However, part of this is because the MSM and dems hate him so much and he is so easy to hate that they can get away with murder because hated people deserve whatever they get and never get the benefit of the doubt, that they use this to tremendously amplify the divisiveness INTENTIONALLY.

Trump is just being Trump and often in defense mode will look his worst...........which the clever MSM knows and they constantly try to bring the worse out in him and then, wait for him to say something dumb, which will be the next headline for days, just as they planned it and it leaves a vindictive Trump attacking them back without the tact that they use when they set him up and of course, it makes Trump look like an even bigger monster.

The MSM propaganda sewer continues to maximize the politicizing of the pandemic and these "gate keepers" of the news will spin divisive narratives between the parties at every opportunity as their hatred of President Trump drives them to interpret news with their anti Trump spin vs just reporting the news, like objective, professional journalists in the past did.

Another great example below. They could have titled this: "Obama slams divisive politics and seeing others as the enemy". This could have been seen as a positive message.

Instead, they  concocted a headline with intentionally inflammatory verbiage to make it Obama(and his supporters) against Trump(and his supporters), obviously as seen from the Obama viewpoint.

Again, these diabolical, sources of hate want to generate the most hate and blame that they can against President Trump.

Regarding Bush's wonderful non partisan message about coming together last month.  It's interesting that the MSM, instead of doing what Bush was asking for.........coming together, both sides did the 100% opposite.

Trump, who is no friend to the Bush's  made one of his typical snide remarks by tweeting:

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

·

.

“Oh bye the way, I appreciate the message from former President Bush, but where was he during Impeachment calling for putting partisanship aside.”

He was nowhere to be found in speaking up against the greatest Hoax in American history!"

Certainly uncalled for, when he could have built on the positive message with a positive message himself. But the MSM is 10 times worse than Trump.

They have an opportunity to actually apply George Bush's message by emphasizing it and making it the top story/headline.

Instead, they turn Trumps snide remark into THE ONLY NEWS.  We already knew that Trump doesn't like George Bush(and vice versa) and we already knew he felt betrayed, so the comment was no shocker.

But they want to focus entirely on Trumps comment. Again, I'm not defending Trump because his comment was despicable(based on character flaws) but the MSM, proves again that they are  truly diabolical because their are constantly using intentional/schemes to twist every event into blatantly divisive anti Trump news.

Ironically, using a message from Bush, that is asking for our country to NOT do what they are trying to maximize.

So who did the most damage?

Trump asking where was Bush during his impeachment? Or

The MSM that twisted Trumps message and replaced Bush's message with their interpretation of Trumps message?

Trump Berates George W. Bush for Call for Coronavirus Unity

Trump attacks Bush after 43rd president offers message

metmike: Was Trump's tweet newsworthy?

Of course it was, but why elevate it to 100 times more important than Bush's message when it was the other way around?

The MSM knew exactly what they were doing. There are alot of Bush supporters out there, especially republicans. They were trying to make this a Bush against Trump news event, vs a Bush with a positive message news event. That way, they can get more people to be against Trump.

In the Obama news conference event above, they were doing the exact same thing.........Obama against Trump as evidenced in their headlines. Get more people who supported Obama to be against Trump.
