"Three more former Minneapolis police officers were charged on Wednesday in the deadly arrest of George Floyd, five days after charges were brought against a fourth officer who was seen in a video kneeling on Floyd’s neck.

Former officers Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng are facing charges of aiding and abetting murder, according to criminal complaints filed by the state of Minnesota on Wednesday. The murder charge against another former officer, Derek Chauvin, was also elevated to second-degree murder.

Chauvin, the officer who place knee on Floyd’s neck for about eight minutes while detaining him on May 25, was initially charged Friday with third-degree murder and manslaughter by the Hennepin County prosecutor.

All four officers were terminated from their positions with the department on May 26, after a video showing the detainment went viral.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, who has been appointed to lead the prosecution in the case, said in an MSNBC interview Mondaythat he intended to charge the officers with the ”highest degree of accountability that the law and the facts will support."

Live: Memorial for George Floyd underway in Minneapolis

https://nypost.com/2020/06/04/live-memorial-for-george-floyd-underway-in-minneapolis/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=push-notification&utm_campaign=live-memorial-for-george-floyd-underway-in-minneapolis

A memorial service is underway in Minneapolis, Minnesota for George Floyd 10 days after the black man was murdered by a police officer there, sparking international outrage and widespread demonstrations against police brutality in his name.

The service, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CST/ 2 p.m. EST, will be held at North Central University’s sanctuary in downtown Minneapolis and Rev. Al Sharpton is expected to give the eulogy, CBS reported.

Other speakers include Floyd’s relatives and Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney who’s now representing the family, the outlet said.

Floyd died on Memorial Day after police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly 9-minutes after he was arrested for allegedly using a counterfeit $20 bill at a grocery store.

I thought the Memorial services went well despite the eulogy being done by the most racially divisive person of power in my generation.

However, this divisive moment by Al Sharpton made a  point over something President Trump did on Monday that deserves criticism.

Rev. Al Sharpton: Trump used a bible as a prop. We will not allow George Floyd to become one.

My negative personal opinion on Sharpton does not disable me to hearing any good points that he may have.

Sadly, his role as Obama's go to man on race relations is at least part of the reason that race relations deteriorated by the more than they had under any other administration in the my life time.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Under President Obama people describing race relations as good dropped 17%.  Those thinking they are bad went up 16%.

Most Blacks Rate Race Relations With Whites as Bad

https://news.gallup.com/poll/246899/blacks-rate-race-relations-whites-bad.aspx

Line graph. Fifty-one percent of Americans describe black-white relations as good; 47 say they are bad.

Implications

"When one compares Americans' views of race relations among most racial groups, they are most divided on black-white relations. Although a majority of Americans describe the current state of black-white relations as good and express optimism that challenges between the races will be eventually worked out, black Americans describe current relations between whites and blacks as either very or somewhat bad at the highest levels of this century.

Immediately after the election of the first black U.S. president, Americans' optimism about the future of black-white relations soared. However, since 2013, Americans' overall positive perceptions on race have cooled, and perceptions among blacks have soured considerably."

Katie Pavlich: The audacity of Al Sharpton

        By Katie Pavlich      —      12/29/14

"MSNBC host, tax evader and proclaimed “Reverend” Al Sharpton is a top adviser to President Obama and has been since day one in the Oval Office. In fact, with more than 60 visits to the White House during Obama’s tenure, you could say Sharpton is one of the top advisers outside of paid staff. Heck, he’s even vacationed with the president on Martha’s Vineyard and has a close relationship with senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett. He’s also played a key role in advising Obama about nominations to powerful positions inside the federal government, including a replacement for Attorney General Eric Holder as the nation’s top law enforcement officer."

So the less we see of race charlatan Al Sharpton, the better race relations will be in this country but today, he made a great point about Trumps use of the bible.
