Wallace’s death has prompted two days of protests in West Philadelphia. Hundreds of people protested, with interactions between police and demonstrators turning heated. On Tuesday night, Philadelphia officials urged residents in some neighborhoods to remain indoors.
Police said as of Tuesday afternoon at least 91 people had been arrested in relation to the unrest. More looting — separate from the protests — was reported Tuesday night, particularly in Port Richmond.
The Pennsylvania National Guard says it has been mobilized in response to the events following the shooting.
