sometimes an old movie really surprises us. I happened to watch "decoration day" with one of my favorites, James Garner last nite, 1990. If you want to watch a movie that will bring the emotion of tears, laughter, and the understanding of just how race relations could and should be handled along with the celebration of our troops on the holiday weekend this is a great one. It proves that with common sense, love for your fellow man, and the hope ne needs to go thru lifes journeys there is always the possibility of happy endings.
Thanks mcfarm!
This looks like a wonderful movie.

James Garner plays a retired judge and recluse who comes out of "hiding" to investigate when his childhood friend (Bill Cobbs) refuses to accept a Medal of Honor awarded decades ago in World War II. His reason is kept in confidence and Garner's character files a motion to deny the ceremony. Meanwhile, the personal lives of the other characters have issues of their own to work out. In the end of things Cobbs' character is told of something he didn't know about and the two romantic side stories resolve in a positive fashion.
