U.S. export inspections were below expectations last week, though recent #corn inspections have otherwise been strong for the time of year. Some 335kt corn were inspected for #China.

Safrinha #corn in Parana, #Brazil is at risk of damage from the frost expected this week. It is unsure exactly what the impact will be, but this is bad news for producers there who have already battled against drought this season.

The biggest sales last week were new-crop #soybeans to #China (1.15 mmt) and unknown (512kt). However, China cancelled 75kt old-crop #corn with no new-crop purchases this week.

Can't post the China chart without posting the unknown as well, since a decent amount of the unknown sales could be China. The total has been above average since December, though the pace was relatively slower in recent weeks - until last week.

#China had recently been slow to buy new-crop U.S. #soybeans, but they made some larger bookings last week. Sales were on a hot pace last year at this time, though now with lighter U.S. acres and a tight balance sheet it will be interesting to see if China perks up again soon.

U.S. #corn exports in May 2021 reached 8.48 million tonnes (334 mln bu), the third largest for any month on record (behind March, April 2021). Some 40% of May exports were to #China, the largest ever monthly share.
