A massive study from Israel suggests older adults were far less likely to develop severe COVID-19 after a booster shot, but the finding carries major limitations

https://www.businessinsider.com/israel-study-covid-19-booster-vaccine-lowers-risk-severe-illness-2021-9

"Including more than 1.1 million people who are 60 and older, the study looked at thousands of infections and hundreds of cases of severe illness, providing some of the most compelling evidence yet on the value of booster shots.

Israel started offering booster doses to its older population on July 30, and a group of researchers analyzed national healthcare records through the month of August.

The main finding was the older population, when boosted, was 11 times less likely to get infected and 19.5 times less likely to get severely ill compared to similar people who had received two doses but not a booster shot.

The study is likely to be influential, because its publication comes just two days before the Food and Drug Administration convenes an independent expert panel to discuss Pfizer's application to give booster shots in the US. Israeli health officials are scheduled to present findings from their booster campaign at that Friday meeting, and US health officials have pointed to Israel's experience to bolster their argument for booster shots.

The Biden administration has already said it plans to start offering booster shots to the general public on September 20, depending on OK's from the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

BNT162b2 vaccine booster dose protection: A nationwide study from Israel

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.27.21262679v1

Results Twelve days or more after the booster dose we found an 11.4-fold (95% CI: [10.0, 12.9]) decrease in the relative risk of confirmed infection, and a >10-fold decrease in the relative risk of severe illness. Under a conservative sensitivity analysis, we find ≈5-fold protection against confirmed infection.

Conclusions In conjunction with safety reports, this study demonstrates the effectiveness of a third vaccine dose in both reducing transmission and severe disease and indicates the great potential of curtailing the Delta variant resurgence by administering booster shots.

I'm following the authentic science and will be getting a booster shot soon!

2 shots offers some good protection from severe COVID and death as shown below but for a disease this deadly, I want the BEST protection!!!

This graph pretty much tells us how powerful the COVID vaccinations have been.

These charts show that COVID-19 vaccines are doing their job

Immunizations are keeping the majority of vaccinated people out of the hospital

Looking at your graph, I see that hardly any vaccinated people go to the hospital.   Wow

This is quite different from Israel. When Israel first got hit by the Delta, around May or June, they were about 50% vaccinated. When the Delta arrived, their hospitals were overwhelmed.

One would have assumed that most of these patients were the unvaccinated.  But no, the hospitalizations were equally split between vaxxed and unvaxxed.

The clear message was… for the Delta it didn’t make any difference whether you were vaxxed or not.   Israel was also the first country to admit that the mRNA job efficacy had dropped to 39% (not because the shot was waning, but because it wasn’t able to deal with the Delta.)

Before Labor Day, Israel sent out a warning to other “highly vaccinated countries, such as the UK or the USA”. They clearly had a “Pandemic of the vaccinated”

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9951117/Israel-worlds-Covid-hotspot-0-2-population-catching-yesterday.html

The data out of the UK also would show a quite different picture from the one you posted.

“…even though a large majority of UK adults are now vaccinated, the rise in cases, as well as hospitalisations and deaths is one of the highest in Europe.”  (and there are large numbers of vaxxed people among them)

Not miracles Gunter. It's called science. You should try it some time.

It sure beats searching the internet for anomalies that contradict the VAST majority of data to show something that is the opposite of what represents the overall authentic science.

The article you sent, makes the case to get another,  3rd booster shot, the opposite of your anti COVID vaxx position, which tells us the vaccine is very dangerous and people should not get vaccinated at all. That advice is actually whats killing many thousands of REAL Americans right now. Not maybe or in theory. Thousands of REAL people will die this year because they did not get vaccinated.

To get the 3rd shot, as your link/story advice's  you had to get the first 2 shots of course. And that advice assumes that people were already smart enough to get the first 2 shots for great protection.

As we've been showing, the vaccine's protection wanes with time and the most vulnerable should get a 3rd shot, as soon as 6 months after the first 2.

Of course, you've been twisting that to mean the vaccines are not working and are dangerous, suggesting people should not get any shots.

Very bad science and dangerous because people following it are resulting in many more severe cases and deaths.

Of course the vaccines are working great by all objective, authentic science, especially at keeping people from getting severe COVID and dying.

You have often sited that the vaccinations are not keeping people from getting COVID, (when they are designed to make your immune system much stronger to fight COVID after being infected-this is how they are saving millions of lives in the world right now) but just like flu vaccines, their effectiveness wears off with time, so we need boosters.

From your article below...........the evidence is very powerful that everybody needs a 3rd, booster shot.

Not vaccinated with 2 shots already?

Use your common sense people and stop being stubborn and stupid and risking OTHER peoples lives besides your own. You don't have the right to increase the chance of giving others COVID that could kill them.

I'm here to save lives not to molly coddle selfish people brainwashed with mis/disinformation that they feel compelled to push on others.

Israel has been offering booster jabs to people over the age of 60 since July and has managed to curb rising hospital admissions in the age group as a result. Professor Eran Segal, a mathematician at the country's Weizmann Institute, tweeted today that hospitalisations had started to fall just two weeks after the top-up campaign started. This graph shows how Covid hospitalisations have started to level off in Israel just two weeks after its booster programme began. When the drive was started hospitalisations were doubling every week. Predictions suggested this would continue (green line). But just two weeks after the jabs were given out actual hospitalisations have slowed (blue line)

Our hospitals are almost full here in Vanderburgh County Indiana. In August, 98.6% of the people in the hospital with severe COVID were NOT vaccinated.

1.4% were vaccinated.

1,288 in the hospitals with COVID.

1,271 were NOT vaccinated.

17 WERE vaccinated.

Many young people and children are getting COVID and some are critically ill.....because vaccination rates are so low in those populations.

Some of the ones recovering from severe COVID have serious lingering symptoms that go on for many months.

These are REAL people!

Certainly no miracles but just a case of people refusing to follow the science and using bad judgment.

My sister Mariann lives in Anchorage, AK and sent this message earlier in the evening:

"Alaska is having a major crisis.  Our main hospital is in a major crisis and says it can’t take care of everyone, they are going to start rationing care, they have to make decisions of who would most benefit.  So heart attack, car accidents, you might not get the help you need.  The doctors will be making life and death decisions based on who has the best chance of survival, 30% of the hospitals are full of covid people and are straining the system. They say the number is probably higher as some people are long hall COVIDers who had gotten over covid but have lingering health issues because of it.  It’s just so, so, sad.  Most of these are unvaccinated.  I just don’t understand how people can say that not getting vaccinated isn’t hurting anyone.  It’s beyond my comprehension.

Follow the link below to view the article."

Your graph with the booster effect has the word "hospitalizations" spelled wrong 3 separate times.  And in 2 different incorrect ways, as well.  The booster effect is shown as basically instantaneous, literally from day one of its being implemented.  That seems incredibly fast.  Might you be aware of how the booster is any different from the initial pair of injections, please? Or is it exactly the same? And must the booster be matched to the specific brand manufacturer of the initial shots or is it universal? Finally, may someone elect to just take the booster, minus the first stage pair and still benefit somewhat?

It is reported that hospitals in my area are limiting services due to staff shortages from nurses quitting instead of getting vaccinated.

Also, Utica, NY judge blocks vaccine mandate. Judge David Hurd in Utica issued the order after 17 health professionals, including doctors and nurses, claimed in a lawsuit Monday that their rights were violated with a vaccine mandate. The court papers said all of the available vaccines employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development or production. The lawsuit said the plaintiffs wanted to proceed anonymously because they “run the risk of ostracization, threats of harm, immediate firing and other retaliatory consequences if their names become known. The plaintiffs, all Christians, included practicing doctors, nurses, a nuclear medicine technologist, a cognitive rehabilitation therapist and a physician’s liaison who all oppose as a matter of religious conviction any medical cooperation in abortion, the lawsuit said. It added that they are not “anti-vaxxers” who oppose all vaccines.

Sad and tragic that it is coming to this, for all concerned...

Thanks hayman!

Take up the spelling mistakes with your man Gunter and his source as that’s where the graph came from.

With regards to the timing of the affect being instanteous, am  not sure why you think that. I copied the graph from Gunters link again below, with the description under it, which states affects started two weeks after the program started and that's what the graph shows to me.

My Man, "G"~!~   How dare you, MetMike!    He's a Saint  , I'm a Sinner

Only exchanged one email about a month ago.  Still trying to raise trading capital by selling tractors and farm.  Thinking Natty Gas to $20, like in the old days!

You are correct, indeed, the reference cited by G, though its the Daily Mail, not known  for editing accuracy.  Hopefully the booster is an improved version with the possibility of stand alone effectiveness.

Good point/question on how to count the booster if you haven't had the first 2 shots yet.

The assumption is that people already had their first 2 shots. For those unvaccinated, they need to get their first 2 shots, usually 3 weeks apart. Then the booster would come 6 months later.

If you had COVID, they recommend just getting one shot in most cases. Then wait 6 months to get the booster, 2nd shot. I can see why this would be confusing.

If I had a very mild case of COVID, I would consider getting 2 shots but that's me.

My oldest son had a wicked case of COVID last November. At 32 years old, he was easily the sickest of his life. He got just one shot this last Spring.

Appreciate the article about the group that is suing over being forced to get vaccinated because its against their religious beliefs.

https://www.wktv.com/content/news/Utica-judge-temporarily-blocks-New-Yorks-vaccine-mandate-for-medical-workers-575311631.html

"They cited violations of the U.S. Constitution, along with the New York State Human Rights Law and New York City Human Rights Law, because the state Department of Health regulation requiring workers to get the vaccine provided no exemption for “sincere religious beliefs that compel the refusal of such vaccination.”

The court papers said all of the available vaccines employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development or production.

The lawsuit said the plaintiffs wanted to proceed anonymously because they “run the risk of ostracization, threats of harm, immediate firing and other retaliatory consequences if their names become known.”

The plaintiffs, all Christians, included practicing doctors, nurses, a nuclear medicine technologist, a cognitive rehabilitation therapist and a physician’s liaison who all oppose as a matter of religious conviction any medical cooperation in abortion, the lawsuit said."

metmike: That one is interesting, especially in light of the fact that fetal cells obtained would have occured decades ago and no new abortions are resulting from this vaccine.

Here is more info on it:

Los Angeles County
COVID-19 VACCINE AND FETAL CELL LINES

http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/docs/vaccine/VaccineDevelopment_FetalCellLines.pdf

"Why are fetal cells used to make vaccines?
Historical fetal cell lines were derived in the 1960’s and 1970’s from two elective abortions and have been
used to create vaccines for diseases such as hepatitis A, rubella, and rabies. Abortions from which fetal
cells were obtained were elective and were not done for the purpose of vaccine development.

The fetal cell lines being used to produce some of the potential COVID -19 vaccines are from two sources:
HEK-293: A kidney cell line that was isolated from a fetus in 1973 (undisclosed origin, from either
a spontaneous miscarriage or an elective abortion)
PER.C6: A retinal cell line that was isolated from an aborted fetus in 1985

Any vaccine that relies on these historic cell lines will not require nor solicit new abortions."

Turns out that some sources don't think  an aborted fetus was used decades ago to develop this vaccine because its an mRNA vaccine that was developed completely different than the other type of vaccines.

Fact check: COVID-19 vaccine 'morally acceptable,' Vatican says, but some claims missing context

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/12/29/fact-check-covid-19-vaccines-morally-acceptable-vatican-says/4014905001/

Neither Pfizer nor Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine involves cells derived from aborted fetal tissue since mRNA development is a different technology. This was confirmed by UAB News, the news website for the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

"Neither the Pfizer nor the Moderna vaccine uses cell lines that originated in fetal tissue taken from the body of an aborted baby at any stage of design, development or production," UAB's Sherri Blank reported."

Now, for a different answer than the previous one. Anything for you hayman!

You asked, we answered: Do the COVID-19 vaccines contain aborted fetal cells?

https://www.nebraskamed.com/COVID/you-asked-we-answered-do-the-covid-19-vaccines-contain-aborted-fetal-cells

"When it comes to the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, fetal cell line HEK 293 was used during the research and development phase. All HEK 293 cells are descended from tissue taken from a 1973 abortion that took place in the Netherlands. Using fetal cell lines to test the effectiveness and safety of medications is common practice, because they provide a consistent and well-documented standard."

metmike: If your reason to not get vaccinated is that it was connected to some research on vaccinations almost 50 years ago that resulted in 1 abortion back then.............you are pretty confused.

Read all the explantions at the links above and know that even the Catholic Pope strongly encourages/is pleading with people to get vaccinated.

With regards to some health care workers refusing to get vaccinated and us being told that they must know something that we don’t know ....I showed Gunter last month what the reason was.

It’s the complete opposite of them knowing something we don’t know.

The ones refusing, actually know LESS than most people getting vaccinated.

It’s because they don’t understand MRNA vaccines And like Gunter, are afraid, some because they read the same mis/disinformation online that is scaring people.

MRNA vaccines are safe. They are not gene therapy. They do not affect your DNA. They do not have long term side affects. Short term problems, like blood clots are extremely rare and usually just with people that have very low platelet levels.

Getting COVID carries a much higher risk for blood clots than the vaccine does, with COVID causing numerous other very serious consequences which the vaccine does not.

The hospitalization rate in Israel is going down?

Strange… I don’t see that.  The blue lime seems to be going up steadily, in spite of the desperate vaccination program.

Of course, you could compare it with the green line…. Yeah… now I can see your point.

metmike… you should know better than that.   the other line is a computer simulation that used bad data input.  You’ve been telling us about such things for weeks, when it comes to climate predictions…. “pseudoscience” you called it.

However, eventually even this Delta outbreak will subside…. with or without booster shots. You made this very clear, responding to my post of Aug 12., when I asked why highly vaccinated Israel had such a severe outbreak, while their next-door neighbors did just fine with a 8% vaccination rate.  You even presented a very clear graph that showed outbreaks come and go in many countries, independent of vaccination efforts.

However, in reality.....that's not the ways things will be going... Dr Fauci and his vaccine companies  have taken control of our lives, and they will have us all on never ending  booster shots. ,

Go ahead and attack your own source Gunter.

All I did was post the graph and their interpretation. As usual, you cherry picked what you wanted to get from them and ignored the rest of it.

"However, in reality.....that's not the ways things will be going... Dr Fauci and his vaccine companies  have taken control of our lives, and they will have us all on never ending  booster shots."

And that's exactly whats driving your obsession and inability to see the crystal clear, objective facts that show conclusively, that the vaccines have tremendous benefits with minimal risks.

You are totally obsessed with the conspiracy theory idea that this is all just a scheme for the government and Fauci to make money and get control of everybody. No amount of authentic data or science can change your mind because your far right sites have captured your mind.

Yea, right and the other 190 countries of the world are under their control too.

Paranoid!

Sadly, it's killing thousands of Americans.

The US was a world leader in vaccination. What went wrong?

How most of Europe caught up to — and then surpassed — the US in their Covid-19 vaccine drives.

https://www.vox.com/coronavirus-covid19/2021/9/9/22662421/us-world-covid-19-vaccine-rates-biden-mandate

Another big difference that explains that divergence is one of culture and politics. Covid vaccinations have become, like so much of America’s pandemic response, polarized along political lines. As of July, 86 percent of Democrats said they were vaccinated, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, while only 54 percent of Republicans said the same. One in five Republicans said they would “definitely not” get the vaccine.

“This political divide over vaccines has contributed to the US falling behind European countries when it comes to coverage levels,” Josh Michaud, associate director of global health policy at the Kaiser Family Foundation, told me.

I'll be getting my 3rd shot in the next month and have no worries about side affects and will tell you about it.
