You can name more than 1 if its close.
A follow up question:
If Obama and Trump got into the boxing ring, who would win?
OK, that's not fair because Obama is so much younger, so how about Trump vs Bill Clinton?
I may have to edit out the follow up question because its pretty silly (-:
Jack Johnson & Mohamed Ali are the greatest boxers of all time.
we know that libs now do keep score, cheer at games or like winners so by definition in case you missed it......there can only be 1 greatest of all time
Here' a couple of names you may not recognize.
Teo Stevenson, the great Cuban Olympic Champion, whom Ali worried would turn Pro.
Sam Langford, a one-eyed black boxer whom Jack Johnson wouldn't fight.
I saw Joe Louis fight in the fifties. He was great, but not the greatest.
Actually mcfarm,
There can be numerous opinions on who was the greatest and a good case to be made for more than just one guy.
I know that our NTR forum dwells on differences in opinion on politics but how about you just tell us who you thought was the greatest boxer if you have an opinion on that.
Bringing up politics and boxing, now reminds me of what happened to Mohammed Ali and I think that I will devote some time to that in the next thread because it was so news worthy.............after we decide who the greatest boxer(s) were.
greatest boxer? he even said it himself "I am the greatest of all times" note the "times"///Ali of course
Ali had it all.
Could you imagine him today with a Twitter account ?
Terence Crawford
.... hands down... fists up !
Ali once said that the smaller heavy-weight fighters couldn't hurt him, and the bigger ones couldn't catch him.
My memory of him is tarnished by the two Sonny Liston fights.
I am just 1 opinion but think Ali was probably the greatest, especially if you dial in the show.
Mike Tyson for a few years was the most fierce and probably could have beaten anybody in their prime.
Here's a top 50 list (that takes into account weights) with some names you may have never heard of but is just one persons opinion.

No Evander Holyfield? Is anyone else surprised by his not being there?

"Sometimes in boxing, a guy trains on hot dogs and beer, and then maybe he injures his shoulder. A guy everybody expects to win, doesn't win. And then there are FBI files and conspiracy theories, and then "people in the know" want to put a guy like Sonny Liston on the grassy knoll with a smoking gun in his hand."
Thanks, Mike. A long but fascinating read.
No Evander Holyfield?
After you brought this up Larry, I looked closer and see that he was more impressive than I remember(probably because he came after an age of epic heavyweight battles and boxing electricity)
I would have him, maybe top 5 but he surely was underrated.
Here's somebody that agrees with you:

Mike,
Thanks for posting those links regarding Holyfield. He was always low key and not flashy like so many great boxers like Tyson, Ali, and Foreman. Perhaps, that has made him less memorable, but I respect him even more for never being flashy.
