just listened to a long interview with a boarder crossing guard from AZ. Says we held the numbers to 200,000 for last month. But assured us that they only catch 20 to 30% of the illegals. Sure changes Biden;s numbers doesn't it. From 200,000 to 600,000/m . Sure that is some small problem as they describe. 600kenteringth no checks of any kind. Guns. bombs, drugs, young sex slaves, children just dumped, diseas?? what could go wrong? But we are dead serious about covid, dead serious so they say.

I am totally with you on how wrong it is to let invaders break into our country as illegal immigrants.

There are numerous reasons why this is a really bad thing for America and some of the people, even though they are just searching for a better life.

I am for LEGAL immigration that includes large numbers of vetted people that follow the rules and wait in line. We should use the proper legal channels in determining who and how many people get in.

Rewarding law breaking foreigners who break into our country is the absolute worst message on several fronts.

Why would this even be a discussion that involves disagreement from one side? Looking the other way and pretending it's not happening is not a policy.

The number of encounters with people trying to break in at the southern border is on course to obliterate the all time record for 1 year.

One of many questions, is........why are the numbers massively increasing? The people doing it, obviously think its a great idea.

The ones that tried to do it with Trump in office were much less.

There are several factors but one of the biggest, at this point appears to be the message(s) they are getting from this administration. Obviously, the more pro immigration our leaders are, the more people will be motivated to come here.

If Biden's message was "we are continuing to build the wall and blocking of illegal aliens from entering the United States, so don't come here that way!"

The message has been the total opposite, so dugh, of course more people will try to invade at the southern border.

Biden to return diverted border wall money, spend down rest

https://apnews.com/article/government-and-politics-donald-trump-joe-biden-business-f12ef1a641bc326761656d4001054361

President Joe Biden suspended construction of the wall upon taking office while his administration reviewed the project.

Biden plans to return more than $2 billion that the Trump administration diverted from the Pentagon to help pay for the wall and use other money appropriated by Congress to address “urgent life, safety, and environmental issues” created by the construction. It also asks lawmakers not to provide any additional funding for what the Biden team believes is an unnecessary effort.

“Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border and costs American taxpayers billions of dollars is not a serious policy solution or responsible use of federal funds,” the Office of Management and Budget said in a statement outlining the plan.

It plans to use the approximately $1.9 million remaining appropriated by Congress for the wall for drainage and erosion control or other environmental problems caused by wall construction in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and elsewhere.

Dozens of advocacy organizations have called on the Biden administration to pay for the restoration of sensitive wildlife habitat and land considered sacred to Native Americans that was damaged by wall construction. “This is a welcome, sensible next step to begin healing the devastation that Trump inflicted on the borderlands,” said Paulo Lopes, a senior policy land specialist for the Center for Biological Diversity.

The administration doesn’t explicitly say it won’t build any new wall. But it says that any new construction will be subjected to environmental review and that it will review ongoing efforts to seize land from property owners by eminent domain and will return parcels to the owners if the Department of Homeland Security determines it’s not needed.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, said Thursday that the state would build its own new barriers along the border with Mexico but offered no details, including precisely where or what they would look like. He has promised more details next week.

“We need to recognize that the numbers of people coming across the border are just going to continue to increase unless we change the game plan,” Abbott said.

metmike: The far left, which have some control in Biden's decisions, clearly want as many people as possible to get in. Building a wall could cut down alot on those numbers.

Actions speak louder than words. Stopping the wall construction and using the money already allocated to do anything but build the wall and claiming that building a wall is not a serious policy or a responsible use of funds tells us all we need to know to see what this administration really wants.

The people trying to get in from Central America understand  it very clearly.

Blaming illegal immigration for the current COVID spike higher is way off the mark.....especially when many of the ones screaming  loudest about it are also anti COVID vaxxers, that are causing the massive outbreak of COVID to be MUCH, MUCH worse by not getting vaccinated.

Americans not getting vaccinated is the biggest contributor, by a very wide margin to this COVID spike higher.

some 10,000 refugees from Haiti are camped out under the Del Rio International Bridge in Texas.

The Biden Administration has ordered the FAA to prohibit drone flights over this area., to prevent images like this being released to the public.

Thanks much Gunter!

This is a huge deal. How the heck did 10,000+ people from Haiti show up at the Texas border?

It's bad enough that was have large caravans of  thousands of people that appear to be organized traveling many miles coming from land but Haiti is way out on the other side of the Cuba in the Caribbean Sea.

Somebody is organizing this and arranging for their transportation across the Caribbean Sea.  You can walk from Central America or take a bus and its already insane that they are coming some 1,400 miles from countries like Honduras  but they sure as heck didn't swim across many hundreds of miles of ocean.

Time to investigate more.

How thousands of Haitian migrants ended up at the Texas border

Gang violence, bloody protests, food and fuel shortages plus natural disasters have spurred many to leave the west’s poorest nation

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/sep/18/haiti-migrants-us-texas-violence

"Natural disasters, exacerbated by climate change and poor planning, also regularly batter the country. A catastrophic earthquake struck southern Haiti on 7 August, killing at least 2,200 people and leaving more than 30,000 homeless."

“There is no normal life anymore in Port-au-Prince,” said Louis Henry Mars, who runs peacemaking initiatives in the capital’s gang-controlled slums. “There are 165 gangs in Port-au-Prince and they are better armed than the police, so you can’t get rid of them without collateral damage.”

Michelle Mittelstadt from the Migration Policy Institute said she thought the impression – however mistaken – that Joe Biden’s administration would treat migrants more kindly than Donald Trump had also played into the surge in arrivals.

“You went from a Trump administration that essentially did everything it could across the border to restrict migration, legal or illegal, to an administration that views immigration overall as a net asset, and doesn’t view immigrants as a security or economic threat,” said Mittelstadt. “People are understanding that there may be a window to act here.”

metmike: You got that right and its the biggest reason for the crisis by far, along with lack of actions to change that view or stop it.

Please, spare us the climate change bullsheet. There are a billion+ people on this planet that have almost nothing, not even enough fresh water to drink every day. On every day of the year, you can make a case to justify why  2,000,000,000 poor people in the world should be able to come to the United States.

There have to be rules and regulations followed to determine what small % of those people the US can afford to let in every year.I am very much for us sharing our over abundance of wealth with those much less fortunate....even more than we do it now....but not like this.

"Most fly from Haiti to Ecuador, which does not require a visa for Haitian visitors, before either trying to find work in Brazil or Chile, or heading north, crossing the perilous jungles of the Darién Gap and onwards to Central America and Mexico.

At every stage, they are at the mercy of a security forces and organized crime groups which target travelers, and the rickety infrastructure of the people-smuggling business."

metmike: Thats NOT what happened this time. No chance, NO WAY! 13,000 people didn't do all those things at the same time/simultaneously  and all show up on the Texas border at the same time. This was an organized effort to bring this mass of people here from the same place at the same time by somebody(s) with alot of money and influence. Maybe they gathered them over time and decided to travel all at once  but this was very organized effort that came from somebody(s) other than those in this huge caravan.

Who is it??

Who is it?

George Soros and his organizations come to mind. His organizations are supposed in aiding the mass-migration form the Northern coast of Africa to the Southern Coast of Europe.

His organizations are also said to be involved with the “caravans” from Central America. I heard that advertisements are being played on the media of Central America, encouraging people to pack up and go to the USA.  On the way, they are given loaded debit cards.  As we all have seen, they are not dressed like impoverished people. Before reaching the border, some of them are given the Joe Biden T-shirts for a photo-op, as we have seen so often (they don’t wear those in Honduras)

Quite obviously, these caravans are planned and well organized.

And these Haitians didn’t paddle over here on little row-boats

BTW,  Goerge Soros also donated $1 mill to Newsom’s team during the recent recall campaign.

Could be part of it Gunter!

U.S. attempts to close part of Texas border and begins flying thousands of Haitians home

Key Points

  • The U.S. tried to block the Mexican border at an isolated Texas town where thousands of Haitian refugees have set up a camp, but the migrants quickly found other ways to cross.
  • Some of the migrants who crossed from Mexico were flown back to their poverty-stricken homeland Sunday by the U.S.
  • Many of the migrants have lived in Latin America for years but now are seeking asylum in the U.S. as economic opportunities in Brazil and elsewhere dry up.

metmike: Some things don't seem to add up. Why would only Haitians living in Brazil and Latin America for years all suddenly head to the US.........because of economic opportunities drying up there. How did all the Haitians know to come out at the same time from all these places and the other people living in those places(in Brazil for instance) that had the same economic hardships, not know to come or be part of this caravan?

If they came from and lived in Latin America for years, why are they all being sent back to Haiti?

I can only speculate but it sounds like maybe they don't want us to know the source of how  many of them came here from Haiti all at once..........and they are just sending them back where they came from.

Why are none going  to where they last lived or any places other than Haiti?

Did some powerful influence with money make a plea to Haitians and finance/organize a big part of this?

There isn't a viable explanation that makes sense absent that theory.

George Soros often gets accused of things like this. He does contribute a ton of money towards all left political causes, that also include things like this. He seems to be doing it legally.

But

1. There may be some very odd explanation that totally escapes me right now.

2. There are dozens of extremely wealthy people and organizations they donate to that could sponsor/help finance a trip like this. Trying to pin it on Soros every time will leave you empty handed most of the time.

We know there are some very rich people that are adamant liberals and for increasing migration. We know that  there are some very rich people that want to increase chaos in the United States.

Yeah, I know its conspiracy theory type thinking but I base everything on facts........and in this case, am making it clear that we don't have facts to prove anything nefarious actually took place.

200,000 illegals/mo apprehended, and another est. 400,000 making it through undetected… that’s mind-boggling

However, finally the Administration is doing something to stop the influx of illegals.

“Yellow police tape was being used to block them from using a small dam to walk into the U.S.”

Yellow tape… yeap.. that should do it.

I can’t continue writing this, I am laughing so hard, I can’t type anymore.

Biden has done poorly overall with regard to illegals. The stats are alarmingly high although ma nature has also had a hand in this.

Regarding the idea of conspiracy theories connected to the lib, Soros: what Gunter is referring to is very likely a bunch of BS and is unproven, regardless. The same right wing sites that push the made up crap about the 2020 election push the Soros conspiracy theories. They don't just have zero credibility. They have "negative credibility" meaning the truth is most likely the opposite of that they say. This from Snopes is from 2019 regarding the BLM protests but it also addresses the general idea of connecting Soros' funding to things with no proof

Yes, I agree strongly  with that Larry.

George Soros is definately a heavy weight when it comes to funding liberal projects and organizations but to  accuse him every time of funding something like this,  with zero evidence would be like accusing Charles Manson every time somebody got murdered in cold blood in California if he was free (-:

There are dozens of other potential sources........IF there was outside funding.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me but I have no facts to prove it.

We know how they are getting funded for  going back............and that isn't coming from personal funding by the individuals, who have nothing for plane tickets. The US government is paying for it.

Who funded their way TO the border is what I wonder.

And this is just a totally strange response by the US government. They haven't flown any people from Central America back to their homes, why these people?

Something is totally different about this situation that makes it stand out like a sore thumb.

I agree with Gunter's assessment on that article that I first posted. It's laughable which is why I questioned the strange explanations.

Don't journalists even use critical thinking when writing an article any more?

That was rhetorical.

Here's a quote from the reporter of one of the people:

“We need food for every day. I can go without, but my kids can’t,” said Jean, who had been living in Chile for five years before beginning the trek north to the U.S. It was unknown if he made it back across and to the camp."

metmike: Why are they sending this person and everybody else back to Haiti if Haiti's current economic situation is unlivable? Chile's economy is not nearly as bad and that's where they were living. So odd.

The number of August US Border Patrol encounters was again near 200K:

Southwest Land Border Encounters | U.S. Customs and Border Protection (cbp.gov)

This brings fiscal year 2021 to 1,475,131 with one month left. The record high back to 1925 for any full fiscal year is 1986's 1,692,444 followed by 2000's 1,676,438, 1999's 1,579,010, 1998's 1,555,776, and 1996's 1,549,876. So, 1997's 1,412,953 has just been surpassed. Projecting ahead tells us that 2021 will very likely end up ahead of 1999 (putting 2021 at least in 3rd). It still has a shot at exceeding 1986 for a new record year. However, that would require a bit of an increase vs each of the last two months:

BP Total Apps FY1925-FY2019 (cbp.gov)

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics

The increase of 2021 FY YTD over full FY 2020 is already by far the largest increase from year to year with it at ~1,070,000 and headed toward over 1.2 million. Prior to this, the largest increases in one year were only 455K in 2019, 430K in 1986, and 306K in 1953.

The huge 2021 increase is due to a combination of factors (not necessarily in this particular order) such as the widespread devastating C. American flooding from Nov. 2020 hurricanes Eta and Iota, Biden's less strict handling of the border vs Trump, 2020 being held down due to Covid, and the strengthening US economy in 2021.

Oh, wow, the left-leaning Snopes is coming to the defense of Soros.Of course, he is a wonderful man, a big philanthropist. So sorry!!!

You are right, there is no proof Soros is involved in this Haitian situation. That’s why I didn’t say “Soros did it”.  I only said, “he comes to mind”

However, Europeans know a little bit more about the subject of mass migration.  It is well known that his organizations support those NGO ships that help illegals crossing the Mediterranean. He is not welcome In Hungary, the country of his birth.

You mentioned “bricks” during the BLM riots....Of course, nobody has any evidence to pin the blame on anyone. However, it’s a bit naïve to assume that somebody just happened to pass by and place a stack of bricks randomly on a sidewalk… in an area where later riots take place

Since you brought BLM into this conversation.  BLM was originally founded to support racial justice. I personally am all for it!!!

However, there is problem with the group. Their founders are admitted communists (which does not go over very well in the US).  Their website also glorified abandoning the Western style family unit… in other words, raise kids on the streets, with street gangs.  Also a view detrimental to peaceful communities..

Since then, the BLM riots have caused huge property damage, burned down many buildings, injured many police officers, looted countless stores, etc etc. causing the destrucion of a normal, healthy urban society.

Can this kind of activity be justified in the name of “racial justice”?  Is it OK to call these acts “criminal activities”?

If you disagree, please tell me, and I will withdraw this statement.

If we agree that looting, arson, violence are criminal activities, then why is Soros’Open Society a major financier of this group?

Gunter,

Snopes may be left leaning, but they're way closer to the center as well as the truth than the right winged sites that push the Soros conspiracy theories. So, I think it is an easy call to go with Snopes over the right winged fake news sites meaning don't believe the unproven allegations about Soros.

I have a huge problem with BLM and others rhetoric about police being systemically racist and especially the need to defund them as being absurd.

I have a long lived strong belief in racial justice and equal treatment, not just laws for minorities backed by more than words.

But we have a huge problem here.

The side claiming to be for blacks, totally ignores the real problems and blames the wrong group.

Cops are the one group that risks the most(their lives) to make the blackest neighborhood (inner cities) safer. They work harder than any other group to reduce the crimes taking the most black lives.......black on black violence.

They are vilified,  attacked and judged as a group for mostly isolated bad behavior by flawed individuals within that large group of mostly wonderful, dedicated cops.

Ironically, minorites that don't want to be profiled because of their skin color, impose a type of profiling of all cops because of the sensationalized actions of a few bad cops.

Body cams and accountability, when applied consistently across the board WILL weed out the bad cops.  It takes time but it's happening.

To make it effective, we need to work WITH the cops not fight against them. They really do want to protect us. The idea of trying to obliterate them is very counterproductive. No civilized society can exist without them playing a key role.  Believing otherwise is a fairy tale.

Most importantly, we must recognize the reality and deal with that, not make up crap from anti police entities.

By far, the problems that exist between blacks and cops is caused by blacks committing  6 times more violent crime than whites, so there will be 6 times more arresting and confrontations with black criminals. Cops should treat all people with the same respect but violent encounters with criminals sometimes don't go well, even when a cop is just doing his job.

Why aren't BLM and the far left trying to reign in the real problem.....excessive crime committed by blacks? Black on black violence?

Their absence of doing this shows their lack of sincerity at addressing the real cause.

The National Police Association seems to feel strongly that the Open Society Foundation and George Soros are part of this problem and I will trust that they know much more about it than me or most people:

                      National Police Association

Pushback on Open Society Foundations’ Efforts to Purge Traditional Law and Order from American Society

George Soros’s Foundation Pours $220 Million Into Racial Equality Push

Mr. Soros’s group will invest $150 million in grants for Black-led racial justice groups, and another $70 million toward local grants for criminal justice reform and civic engagement opportunities.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/13/us/politics/george-soros-racial-justice-organizations.html

Soros bankrolls group pushing to 'dismantle,' replace Minneapolis Police Department

The billionaire's Open Society Policy Center gave $500,000 to Vote Yes 4 Minneapolis

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/george-soros-dismantle-replace-minneapolis-police

"Money from liberal billionaire George Soros is fueling an initiative to "dismantle" and replace the Minneapolis Police Department, campaign finance records show.

The Open Society Policy Center, an advocacy nonprofit in Soros' network, provided a $500,000 donation to Vote Yes 4 Minneapolis in November, one month after it was established, the records show. The group, a coalition of at least 33 activist organizations, is pushing a ballot initiative to amend the city charter to replace the police department with a public safety agency"

metmike: So although Soros gets blamed for things that he may not have had a role in, it's totally understandible why his name is often the first to come up when topics like this are being discussed and we speculate on where funding may have come from.....because he DOES fund things like it.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html

What is disturbing is the fact that nobody in the Administration asks how these Haitians got here.

The caravans from Honduras… they walked to the US

How did the Haitians get here???

I could see a handful of them coming as stowaways on a freighter.   However, this here is a very large-scale, planned operation. There is big money involved to provide transportation for all of them to Mexico.

Who?????and Why?????

I'm not sure how great the benefits to having a couple hundred police cars parked together will have on an open border that hundreds of miles long.

There's actually a profound point in that mcfarm.

Almost all these immigrants will be for liberal programs and liberals.

Maybe they can't vote right away but the increase the pool of potential democratic voters in the future in our country.

Eventually, with all the old white republicans gradually dying off,  the numbers for democrats are just too overwhelming to overcome.

Any politician that pretends they don't know that is not being honest.

That would be like a meteorologist pretending that they didn't know that clouds make rain.

Not every cloud...........but the more clouds that there are(denser their population in the sky), the better chance there is for rain!

DHS suspends horse patrols but ramps up Haiti repatriation flights

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/573659-dhs-suspends-horse-patrols-but-ramps-up-haiti-repatriation-flights

DHS officials repeatedly declined to provide figures for how many Haitians had been released into the U.S. under another provision of the law called Title 8.

“We are still under Title 42 because we are in a global pandemic, so we are still operationalizing that,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday.

“If people are not are not expelled under that, then there are a range of options. Either they are put into an alternative to detention, where biometric data is required, they're given a notice to appear or they're put in an ICE facility,” she said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

State Dept accuses US envoy to Haiti of 'mischaracterizing' circumstances of resignation

metmike: They still won't tell us who sponsored/organized and funded all those Haitians coming here at once! They only tell us what they want us to think.

Did 14,000 people originally from Haiti all get visits from angels in a dream, telling them to come to the US southern border at the same time? If many of them had been living in South America or elsewhere for numerous years, why are ALL of them going back to Haiti instead of their last home?

If they gave up everything to flee Haiti years ago to live in those other countries for numerous years, why in the heck would you send them back to Haiti?

How about................any country BUT Haiti.

Unless we are being lied to and they mostly did come from Haiti but since its out to sea, telling us that might  reveal who boated/shipped them out en masse to come to the US.............my speculative guess.

So they are just sending them all directly back to Haiti(to reverse/undo the process that got them here).

one of the biggest liars for Biden is Psaki. Just yesterday she said the reason the Haitians don't have to be vaxxed is that "they will be here just a short time"..what a story that one is. Number 1 many have already run the boarder and are deep within our country.  Number 2 many have been moved by our own gov deep within out boarders and with the promise of appearing within 60 days are long gone. Number 3 a few single males have been sent back. So, no, they will not be here a very short time. In fact if some of the pregnant women have their babies here, they are now citizens, don't think they will be leaving anytime soon. Only to top that lie Psaki then started on the horse whipping lie.

This is the explanation that we are getting now. Nobody has proof that this didn't happen but its odd that all of a sudden, after many years, all at once 10,000+ Haitians showed up on the TX border, coming from Central and South America...........after living there for numerous years, just waiting for September 2021 to break into the US.

It would be more believable to me if they were showing up at  1,000 or even 2,000 every month............a steady stream.

I totally agree mcfarm!

This is totally messed up and we are just getting fed packs of lies.

Nobody knows the real truth and what's really going on, other than its not what we are told because lots of what we are told just makes no sense............which causes us to be unable to tell the truth from the lies.

When a crazy story like this one pops up.........we(me) are very skeptical of the explanation for just that reason.

Just the fact that it's happening is bad enough because the messed up policy is mainly causing it to happen.
