Smash & Grab

Just saw a interview with the owner of car dealership that got hit in Chicago . After listening to him I thought that idiot Mayor that said the stores need to do more might be right.    1. You had a armed man enter the store  with a gun in his hand while the other one broke into jewerly cases. You had several people working in the store that were armed, one even said in another interview he had a lazer sight with the red dot on the man, but didnt shot because he didnt raise the gun WTF are you kidding me he should have been blown out the door the minute he pulled the gun out.

 2. When you have people running into a store like is going on in California with a hammer raised above thier head (in other words a deadly weapon at that point) and fearing for your life and your employees they should be shot.    Its the only way this will end.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smash_and_grab

A smash and grab is a particular form of burglary that involves smashing a barrier, usually a display window in a shop or a showcase, grabbing valuables, and then making a quick getaway, without concern for setting off alarms or creating noise.[1]   Typically, display windows and showcases that are in enclosed areas, such as shopping malls and office buildings, are less vulnerable to smash and grab raids than those on open streets – particularly where the streets are poorly lit or unobserved (such as premises in pedestrian subways or unstaffed transport facilities).[1]  Recent smash and grab crimes have also involved ramming a pickup truck through the walls of a convenience store or gas station in order to remove the ATM from the premises and recover the cash.[2]  Smash and grab raids can occur in many scenarios, both in broad daylight and at night, and the perpetrators can range from experienced thieves to impulsive vandals.

The greatest cost of smash and grab raids can often be in replacing the windows or walls, which can sometimes far exceed the cost of the goods that are stolen.[1]

On Fox News It Is "Looting" While On CNN It Is "Smash And Grab"

GDELT Project

Indeed, over the past decade, Fox News has mentioned looting almost twice as much as CNN and MSNBC.

GDELT Project

Turning from spoken word mentions to the total seconds of airtime since the start of last year in which "looting" was mentioned somewhere in the onscreen text, Fox News again dominates with 17.8 hours, followed by CNN's 8.9 hours and MSNBC's 3.1 hours.

GDELT Project

Comparing "looting" (blue) with "smash and grab" (orange) since the start of this month, the graph below shows that Fox News viewers see much more about "looting" while CNN viewers see much more about "smash and grab" and MSNBC viewers see much less of either, though with a preference for "smash and grab."

You're right JMK.   The citizens of Chicago  and other liberal towns, apparently can't count on the government to keep streets safe.  We see too many examples right now where criminals get a pass, and if arrested, as unlikely as that appears to be,  they will get a pass in court with, at most, a slap on the wrist.

So,  when people crash into your store with a hammer or other deadly weapon,  you have every right to shoot them on the spot.

When the criminals start fearing their victims,  they'll find another way, and these smash and grabs will come to a quick end.  And as multiple studies prove.  Once a criminal has been shot,  he is far less likely to commit additional crimes.

Is this creating another Kyle Rittenhouse.

How does the law read about private security using deadly force?

For that matter does anyone know how the law reads about government sanctioned police personnel using deadly force? A government allows police officers to kill under certain circumstances but a person employed by a security firm ,for instance, and lawfully carrying a firearm must be sanctioned in some manner to use deadly force. Otherwise they may be looked upon as a "Bernie Getz" type individual-a vigilante- a Charles Bronson- a Kyle Rittenhouse.

After all they seem to be voluntarily putting themselves in a situation more probable to being exposed to such a situation than not.

  Just thinking......

lets not all pretend we do not remember the old west, warts and all. Smash and grab your way into a local store in the old days and you will leave that store with a shot gun blast.  Not pretty, but everyone knew the rules and for the most part abided them.

Good points John.  The government appears to be sending a message that self defense may end up costing you a lot of grief.  Especially if you dare confront the militant leftist army. Citizens should not be interfering with their good works.
