I read this earlier mcfarm and thought it was just a joke at first and had to read it a couple of times to totally understand what the actual point was.

The big fuss is over the fact that the committee put just 1 period . where they should have been 3 periods...

That's it entirely.

No, really, that was it. Nobody changed a word or inserted a word or took out any words.

Fact Check: Did Adam Schiff 'Tamper' With Jim Jordan Jan. 6 Evidence in Meadows Hearing?

By

https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-adam-schiff-tamper-jim-jordan-jan-6-evidence-meadows-hearing-1660490

Mostly False.

"It's true that committee staff cut short Jordan's original forwarded message for the sake of brevity and that a period was mistakenly added in place of an em dash. The committee has admitted to both. But there is no evidence that the changes were made in order for Schiff to mislead fellow committee members, nor do they alter or distort the meaning of the message. The claims of evidence tampering by Schiff are misleading because the committee said that the graphic was shared with him in that form. It has since shared the full text, which is stored in the committee's evidence trove in its original form."

I'm sure that as a master of English grammar and punctuation, that you immediately recognized on your own, this egregious error of leaving out  the .. and weren't just copying and pasting the article about this silliness because you think that somehow it discredits the investigation.

What exactly about the missing .. in this one text, makes any of the facts, texts, statements/words and actions by those involved any different?

When one side resorts to a defense of their position that looks like this............they  must not have anything better or they wouldn't be focusing so much attention on such a minuscule, unimportant item that has no bearing on anything.

Nobody was hiding anything or trying to keep the rest of the text a secret either. It's all out there.

Judge: Lack of charges for Trump over Jan. 6 is no basis for leniency for others

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/12/17/judge-lack-charges-trump-jan-6-525277

Florida man who admitted to throwing fire extinguisher and plank at police gets toughest sentence yet in Capitol riot.

A federal judge has rejected arguments from a Capitol Riot participant that he should get a more lenient sentence because former President Donald Trump and other organizers of election-fraud protests on Jan. 6 have not been held accountable for their conduct.

"I don’t think that fact means that you should get a lower sentence,” U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan said Friday, before sentencing Florida resident Robert Palmer to the lengthiest prison term imposed thus far in a Capitol riot case: five years and three months behind bars.

Palmer — who admitted to swinging a pole at police as well as throwing a wooden plank and fire extinguisher at them — was the first Jan. 6 defendant to be sentenced on a charge of assaulting police officers with a weapon.

The 63-month sentence Chutkan imposed was the harshest yet handed down in the more than 700 Capitol riot prosecutions. Prosecutors had sought the lengthy jail term, which was nearly two years longer than the sentences handed down to Jacob Chansley — known as the QAnon Shaman — and Scott Fairlamb, who pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer.

Her remarks upon sentencing included a stirring defense of police officers, deputy U.S. marshals and members of Congress, who she said were the real patriots that day. She also lamented that the Jan. 6 rioters appeared to be treated more gently by police than they might’ve been if they were non-white.

The 90-minute long sentencing hearing was wrenching at times, as Palmer came to grips with the lengthy sentence he was facing. Through tears, he pleaded for leniency, with his children nearby in the courtroom. One of them, Robert Palmer Jr., also urged the judge for leniency.

But Chutkan, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, said her sentence needed to also factor in the grave threat to democracy posed by crimes like the one Palmer committed, particularly as evidence continues to emerge of threats to future elections.

"It has to be made clear that trying to violently overthrow the government, trying to stop the peaceful transition of power, meets absolutely certain punishment,” she said."

metmike: This seems like an excessive sentence.

However, one side continues to downplay the gravity and pretend like this was just any building and act  as if this was downtown Chicago and they broke into a department store.

Make no mistake of what the objective was for these rioters. It wasn't to express themselves with anger, like the rioters in the Summer of 2020, who did several orders of magnitude MORE damage, including killing and injuring cops and absolutely should have been held fully accountable....but absolutely were not.

These people were trying to overturn an election(stop the steal) and overthrow the government. They never had a chance to succeed and they were operating based on a trans like brainwash from their cult leader but they didn't break into this particular building,  the Capital, exactly at this particular time, when they were declaring Biden the president........ coincidentally because they were lost tourists.

Worshiping Trump, who got into their heads and convinced them to act this way is no excuse.

Claiming ignorance because a very bad person brainwashed him to do something very bad is no excuse.

That very bad person was never charged with a crime for their MUCH BIGGER role for causing the Insurrection. In fact, that bad person is THE REASON for it entirely.

These people were all doing this for Trump. Their leader hasn't been charged........so why are the members of his cult?

This is an extremely good point. Why has Donald Trump received such preferential treatment in not being charged for playing the most important role in CAUSING the insurrection because he was the president???

Presidents should be held accountable for not following the very same laws as everybody else.

How the January 6 committee finally exposed Trump's empire of lies

https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/16/politics/donald-trump-january-6-committee-republicans-fox-news/index.html

(CNN)If politics still turned on truth and facts, this would be the week when the lie-filled foundations of Donald Trump's movement imploded, destroying his apparent dream of a return to power after the 2024 election.

But it is the ex-President's greatest, most subversive victory that his empire of falsehoods will surely survive new disclosures that lay bare his own abuses of power and the voter-mocking deceit of his political and media enablers.

While there has already been a steady accumulation of shocking evidence of Trump's coup attempt on January 6 and the emptiness of his election fraud claims, recent days put the saga into a horrifying new light. They brought the clearest indicators yet that the entire Make America Great Again infrastructure and Trump's potential next White House campaign rest on hogwash and the whitewashing of history

The House select committee probing the January 6 insurrection has released fresh details of the elaborate behind-the-scenes plot to subvert the certification of President Joe Biden's election. There's embarrassing new evidence of how conservative media stars were privately alarmed by the attack by Trump's mob but quickly reverted to amplifying his lies to millions of Americans they willfully deceived. And a major new Associated Press survey of 2020 swing states contested by Trump found cases of voter fraud were sparse and far from the nationwide conspiracy he claims. There are separate reports that three Florida residents were recently arrested and charged with election fraud -- two of whom were registered Republicans.

This week will be remembered for Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, the vice chair of the House committee, bringing receipts that exposed the hypocrisy of Trump's extended orbit.

Texts from Republican lawmakers, Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. and Fox News prime-time anchors to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows show that they knew the attack on the Capitol was a disaster and wanted it to stop.

Yet those same conservative heroes are part of a political media operation that spent the last 11 months obscuring what really happened, in many cases denying the truth of Biden's election win and fueling lies about voter fraud that are feeding anti-democratic extremism. All to preserve a meal ticket named Trump.

In another development fraught with chilling implications, the committee revealed that Meadows wrote in an email that the National Guard would be present to "protect pro Trump people" on January 6. It was the latest example of a habit of weaponizing sacred American institutions for Trump's political gain. The scale of the evidence coming to light this week is remarkable. But daily bombshells about what happened on January 6 often have the effect of diminishing the shock value of Trump-related outrages. And voters have pressing concerns like the rising cost of living and a pandemic that will shortly drag into a third year. Yet this week's developments are important not just because they chart the staggering breadth of Trump's election conspiracy.

The only thing that's come out of the latest "investigation" is that Trump, and everyone around him, was completely opposed to the riot.  The dozens of tweets "uncovered" all document extreme opposition.

But don't worry.  As we've seen in these "official" investigations.  Sooner or later, they'll get someone for something. And then, it will all be worth while,  right?

Yes that is exactly what I thought MM. As soon as I saw the name Adam Schiff I knew right there and then it was all an innocent oversight.  And just how many innocent oversights is one crook allowed? Seems he had nearly daily "innocent" oversights during the Russian hoax. Let's just line these two guys up. We have Schiff and known felon {yes lying to congress is still a felon if you are a repub anyways} and we have Jim Jordon. One of the best and brightest, toughest defenders of our constitution, founding documents and republic. Ohh gee who should I go with? Not a tough decision there MM.

The most profound thing happening here that you completely fail to grasp is that the Insurrection mentality continues to be pervasive for tens of millions of Republicans right now.

You want to pretend that is was a 1 day fluke in 1 place that is getting way to much attention because now everything is back to normal, like we are back to the pre Trump loss days again.

Not even close and we dang well need to understand this MUCH better to get it figured out with this country  in a huge heap of trouble BECAUSE OF the Insurrection mentality that continues at this moment.

Absolutely correct Mike. The election fraud business is profitable. Trump raised over 200 million in the month following the election while costing the taxpayers over 500 million complying with the demands made.

And my position is NOT anti republican.

I'm not the enemy or a democrat or the MSM.

I'm your friend. Seriously.

Reject the bad things being pushed/defended by your party(anything that defends Trump/anti vaccine rhetoric) stop fighting things that are good and focus on fighting the bad things related to the policies of the current administration and policies destined to not just fail but are recipe's for disaster(energy policy, southern border) and the lack of honest leadership.

The democrats are loving your willingness to engage on these issues because they have the high ground and will win every time. THEY TOTALLY OWN YOU on the insurrection(anything related to Trump) and COVID vaccines.

Note that all the discussion between me and you recently is on a topic that they own you on.

For once, acknowledge you have a loser issue and all you have to do is acknowledge it.........and the damage stops.

Fighting it is digging the hole deeper and deeper. Why spend so much time digging deeper holes when you can build on so many positive issues where republicans have the much better for America agenda?

Why?

Because FOX and the far right's objective is to make you angry and to fight and republican voters are totally falling in line with whatever FOX tells them to do.......how to think. They have been in lock step with Trump and his biggest cheerleader which, by itself is an absolutely losing strategy for the future of your party.

It's a dream come true for Dems and the MSM who are STILL having a field day connecting Trump to the current republican party.

The winning strategy is pretty obvious.

That doesn't mean that I don't agree with some of the liberal policies..........like socialized medicine and being more active in helping the less fortunate in our country and in the world.

Gee,  I guess if it weren't for Fox,  we wouldn't be angry about the impending collapse of our economy,  our loss of security on the international level, tjhe erosion of our rights via the weaponized DOJ, FBI, CIA and IRS,  where parents who object to the curiculum their children are subjected to are labeled as domestic terrorirsts. Where guilty leftists are innocent and innocent conservatives are guilty. This is just the short list, I could go on for hours.

But you're right.  It's all Fox's fault.

You didn't mention the Insurrection(and why it wasn't that bad), Trump or COVID vaccine mandates 1 time in the last post Tim!

Good for you. Keep it up!

Keep going after the things that republicans have a huge advantage with, not the areas that are huge losers and  where democrats own you/them.

Tim says: "The only thing that's come out of the latest "investigation" is that Trump, and everyone around him, was completely opposed to the riot.  The dozens of tweets "uncovered" all document extreme opposition."

Just keep repeating that Tim............as the new information comes out........so that you can keep ignoring it:

MM, You keep talking about "new information",  but you have yet to produce any.

Your last link showed a new opinion on old information,  but that's not new information.

FYI, discussing constitutional ideas/concepts on elections is not "Traitorous" no matter how many people offer the opinion.  And opinions are not "new information".  You seem very confused on this concept.   New Information involves facts that were previously unknown.  You can form any opinion you want based on old/previously known facts,   but that is not new information.     Does that make sense?

Also,  your link had nothing about anyone supporting the Jan 6th riot.  So,  not only are you having trouble with the concept of "new information",  you are also having trouble staying on topic.

Let me know if there's anyhting I can do to help.

Fox News hosts begged Trump to stop Jan. 6 violence because they knew he started it

Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity haven't been honest with viewers about Donald Trump's role in Jan. 6 violence.

Tim,

Every new text and message that took place, every new person that did anything that contributed to the Insurrection to help us better understand how it happened..........every interpretation of that or anything that contributed to the Insurrection that we didn't know before......is old news to you.

I get that. You want the investigation to go away.

I want to learn more..............so do others.

I get why many of them are not republicans and that its political for them.........which is why you object so strongly.

I really do understand why you have this position. It's democrats vs republicans. It's never Trump people against Trump supporters for some.

That's absolutely NOT the reason that I want to learn more.

"remind anyone of pre-Nazi Germany?'

mcfarm,

That total nonsense and rhetoric has been getting used by both sides to vilify the policies and people of the other side for several years now.

But THIS TIME, it applies right?

WRONG!

The way that this term is now being used is always by the party NOT in power to refer to whatever the party IN power does.

They use the most diabolical/evil regime in history..........and try to make us believe that the other party is like them.

It's become laughable.

Is it wrong to compare Trump to Hitler? No.

https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/commentary/trump-hitler-insurrection-autocracy-holocaust-january-6-20210127.html

A leading Holocaust historian just seriously compared the US to Nazi Germany

“If the US has someone whom historians will look back on as the gravedigger of American democracy, it is Mitch McConnell.”

Fox host doubles down on outrageous comparison of Fauci to Nazi 'Angel of Death' doctor as network remains silent

https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/01/media/lara-logan-fox-news-fauci/index.html

Biden's vaccine mandate is not a Nazi move. But this Arizona leader went there (again)

Opinion: I realize that it is all the rage these days to rage against the efforts of government to get people vaccinated. But can we lay off the Nazi analogies?

https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/laurieroberts/2021/09/13/biden-vaccine-mandate-nazi-move-kelly-townsend-thinks/8323048002/

Why does everyone keep making Nazi comparisons?

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-39266863

"I wanted to hint that most people who brought Nazis into a debate... weren't being thoughtful and independent. Instead, they were acting just as predictably, and unconsciously, as a log rolling down a hill," he wrote in an opinion column for the Washington Post.

metmike: When somebody...... any source uses the Nazi accusation/comparison, I immediately think that they don't know what they are talking about. Instead they are definately, absolutely, positively NOT OBJECTIVE. Which often means not credible because they are more concerned with trying to smear the person or entity that they refer to as being akin to Hitler or Nazi Germany(the most evil person or political government in history)....than they are of presenting accurate or objective facts/the truth.

It might get cheers from like minded, tunnel visioned people (and maybe that's all you care about) but outside of that.......

Just know that it basically obliterates credibility and any good points that you might have to say when you do it.

so what happens when both our vaunted leaders use the term "winter of death?"  You might want to read back and realize just how the Nazi party got its start. It was so subtle that the ordinary Germans fell right in line.

Now there was an interview this week on cnn that never quite went as planned. The predictions are for a "winter of death" in the NE and we understand all the hospital beds are full with no room to treat covid patients said the breathless host. The guest who ran several health facilities replied, let me give you some perspective. We have over 5000 beds and less than 10% are in use. The host now a chalky grey/white color no doubt had some choice words for one his top notch expert cnn producers. I do not have time to find the interview but will look. I heard some of it on the radio. Also I paraphrasing the interview of course but tried to relay what I heard.

metmike:  Instead of realizing how absurd and paranoid/delusional these statements are...........go ahead and defend them and double down by saying even  more absurd things.

Yeah, I know a few things about history and one thing for certain, this IS ABSOLUTELY NOT Nazi Germany in the 1930's.

However, there is alot of brainwashing going on and one of the brainwashes being imposed is to make people think that this is Nazi Germany.

You are accusing one side of doing exactly what your side is doing to you!

Man, I would be pretty ticked off if/when I realized my intelligence was being stolen by my own party for their self serving agenda.

The most important and cherished right of every human being is..........TO KNOW THE TRUTH.

This same message applies to you too mcfarm.

every new person that did anything that contributed to the Insurrection

Fine MM. I get that. Let's get everyone who was involved in the Jan 6th riots..   Is there anyone who has not been identified?  We've seen none in the texts you've referenced,  We've seen a few people added to the list that asked Trump to intervene.    That's not suporting the riot.  Quite the contrary. We saw another effort by Schiff to radically misrepresent an exchange from Jordan on the constitutional criteria for overturning the electoral votes.  But that also is not "supporting the riot".  What Jordan sent was a forwarded message that included a couple paragraphs as well as an attachment outlining the process for constitutionally rejecting electoral votes. This was truncated by Schiff to part of one sentence. We've seen more tha a few examples of this from him, and the fact that it get's no attention should give you a clue.

Are you trying to say that anyone who questioned the results of the election was supporting the riot?  That's a hopelessly flawed premise. Discussing legal means for overturning an election is a far cry from vandalizing the capital building.

I am all for getting to the bottom of any unidentified "truths",   but that's exactly what this "Jan 6th commission" is not about. It's an extension of the kangaroo court the left hes been perpetuating for the last 5 or 6 years. I believe the majority of the electrorate is getting pretty tired of it.  At least I hope so.   We'll know more next November.

Yes, it’s sad that everything in Washington is political.

What’s your opinion of Liz Chaney?

Is she a traitor because like me she wants to get out all the details we need to know to best understand this totally unprecedented attempt to try to stop The certification of Biden as our legally elected president.

Stating that it’s all politics is total denial of it not being politics for some of us.

I was in denial of that fact to some extent when I compared the insurrection to the 2020 riots which were much worse based on cumulative PHYSICAL damage to property and lives.

But the insurrection mentality continues in tens of millions of people who still insist that the election was stolen from trump and believe that democrats rigged that election And fully intend to try to rig every future election they can.

So they’ve lost confidence in our elections and democracy for entire bs reasons made up by Trump.

I’d  say we have one of the biggest problems in US history.

One helpful  solution is to require picture ID to vote.... like they do in Canada. That would help restore some confidence but only some. This damage is indreaeibly massive and it’s permanent but can’t just be accepted without trying to reverse some of it ASAP.

Another way to help is to fully expose the scheming of the bad actors via an investigation like this one.

Hopefully then, more people will see that the election steal was just a false narrative made up by those bad actors and wasn’t from any Election Day fraud.

We really need this.

Most people will ignore the evidence if they don’t want to believe in it. That’s still no evidence to not do the right thing....uncover the conversations of scheming bad actors and those in their inner circle.a

In this case, I think the people at Fox were good guys to get trump to stop his insurrection.

They presented a different side on the air in 2020 then what their behind the camera/scene tells us but the one behind the scenes on Jan 6th is important to see in order to better understand this.

To me it’s been very helpful.

I had no idea some of this was going on.

I assumed some of it but most of us are so ignorant about who talks to who with private message and texts like this because.....There is no way for us to know or have known who all the insiders are.

Who’s really in the inner circle of people that advice the president that are not on the offici@l list of people who’s job it is to do that.

It would be very fascinating to know who Biden gets his advice from.

I’m betting that it’s not from CNN or CNBC though, like FOX advised and protected trump.

How ironic. The tv station that accuses the liberal MSM of playing favorites to presidents Obama and Biden for politics ends up being busted as the worst violators of exactly what they accuse their competition of doing.

You really think an article with the heading containing "More and more Trump Goons" is going to be accurate?   It's quite pausible that these people are scared to death from what they've seen the left do to innocent people over the last few years.

I agree, changes to reinstill confidence in the process are essential.   The consistent resistence to meaningful change from the left is more cause for concern.

FInally,  based on the current "definition" of insurrection, here are 4 more examples from our history.

You have already stated that you feel Jordan was a traitor, supporting the "insurrection" for discussing constitutional paramters for overturning electoral votes,  right?    Very much like these other 4 instances.

And yes, once again, the left is fabricating "facts", much as they have for the last 4-5 years, or perhaps longer.  There is some truth,  but lot's a manufactured nonesense mixed in for good measure.   Your links have documented that quite extensively.

But,  as is getting more and more prudent in these pointless discussions....

I'll just continue to provide news and facts, including the story that I posted on Jordan's text.

Thanks to joj for alerting me on this, I really want to know more about the events and bad actors that played a role in this..........because the mentality is still powerful in the minds of many tens of millions of Americans right now, here on 12-23-21.

The physical riot took place on Jan 6, 2021 and republicans want to just call it a 1 day, aberrant event but its anything but that as evidenced by the emphatic attempts to obstruct the investigation committee from trying to learn more and tens of millions of republicans convinced that the election was stolen............which, in their minds justifies the Insurrection mentality.

This is total denial and willfully trying to prevent others from understanding it so that we can properly address that exact frame of mind that is the most dangerous political element in our country right now.

The Insurrection mentality is alive and unwell but very powerful  in this country right now!

Go to FOX to get your daily dose of reinforcement!

"Perry has been in investigators’ crosshairs for some time. He was cited more than 50 times in a recent Senate Judiciary Committee report for his efforts tied to Trump's big election lie. In particular, the report outlined how Perry played a direct role in trying to install Trump loyalists at the Justice Department who would do the former president’s bidding."

I'm well aware that some of these sources are left and even far left and  anything but objective and this is political..........but not for me. I want to know more and it isn't going to come from the right.

I may not actually agree with the specific opinions of some of these sources but am sharing the opinions and information.

Regardless, there is clearly much more to learn and it isn't going to come from the side that's trying to cover it all up.
