Biden, NORAD and Santa Claus.

I have always thought that the phrase "F___ Joe Biden" was not acceptable behavior for grown adults in a civilized society, and I felt the same way about "F___ Trump". "Let's Go Brandon" is a somewhat humorous and somewhat more acceptable adaptation,  but I still object to the underlying message.  Call me an old fuddy duddy if you will. Supposing  you have at least half a brain, there are ample opportunities to insult Biden without using gutter language.

Anyway.....

In a call last night with a group tracking Santa Clause through NORAD, after hearing one parent say it,  Biden repeated "Let's go Brandon, I agree".

Once you stop the inevitable laughter (Yes, even this old fuddy duddy laughed a little) This leaves us with one of two conclusions, or perhaps both.

1.) Biden is completely out of touch with America.

2.) Biden is exhibiting accelerated dementia.

Parent uses right-wing slur during Biden call with NORAD Santa tracker (msn.com)

Biden and the first lady were speaking with families around the country who had called into the North American Aerospace Defense Command to receive an update on Santa's location when one parent ended the conversation by saying: "Let’s go Brandon."

The president did not appear to recognize that the phrase was a euphemism for "f--- Joe Biden," and responded: "Let’s go Brandon, I agree."

merry Christmas and totally agree Tim.  People in public should not be chanting things like F Biden. Heck I am so rural when Purdue fans chant IU sucks I cringe and wish they would not do it at all.

What's most telling about this...  When Deniro repeatedly  screamed "F___ TRUMP!!" at the Tonys,  the articles talked about how he got a standing ovation.

They refer to "Let's go Brandon" as a "Vulgar Right Wing Slur".

So,  I guess it's far worse than "F___ TRUMP!!"."

No bias here,  right folks?  :-)

Tim I always looked at this with a sports analogy. If you play an away game you better win by 10 because left to chance you may not win at all, Remember the Olympics the first time a USA team ever lost? Conservatives have been dealt the same hand . They have to be better, speak better, behave better, win elections by large margins otherwise there will  be hell to pay from most every TV. radio, and printed outlet nation wide. But if you are Kennedy well hell, you drink, drug. and rape and its called Camelot.

“I think what’s happened is people have just become sick and tired of being told that what they’re seeing and what they’re hearing is not what they’re seeing and hearing,” emphasized Rowe.

“And this is the perfect trope,” he continued. “I don’t think people who yell it are necessarily enemies of the president. I think they’re enemies of being told that what they’re seeing and what they’re hearing isn’t real, that it’s somehow a figment of their imagination. People are sick of that.”

I agree strongly with that............and the side claiming that they are sick of it..........does it too.

kind of boxed your self there . never mentioned "losing" elections . Hell if you get beat by 7 million you don't have much to cry bout. But if the Russian's replay the ending 3 times until THEY win that is why its better to win big when playing away from home. Or has I said you have nearly every Tv network, radio station or media outlet doing business as an arm of the dem party makes it really difficult

What planet have you guys been living on????

OK, I know the answer..........planet far right echo chamber!

I could have filled numerous pages with over 100 links/posts in many dozens of threads but instead, choose previous discussions that had some of the most links already embedded.

Since I'm in Detroit with my Dad and don't have time to sort thru stuff. I just randomly picked some of the ones that I remember had the most delusional republican stuff in just the last few months here. ..........by several orders of magnitude greater than posts and threads here with far left delusional stuff.

joj is a lib that posts here. Can you show us 1 post of his with delusional stuff? Or WxFollower?, who is not far right?

Again, this has taken more of my time, by far than any other item at MarketForum in 2020. ......possibly more than all other topics combined.

You asked for it...........so here it is.

Let me explain why you guys continually, keep getting blindsided with facts like this.

You all go to your echo chambers(places that say what you like to hear and read with others that repeat the same things) ......with everyone practicing "group think" and tribalism.

When you come here, since you are the majority......you repeat the same stuff and often reinforce each other.

In the absence of an objective, independent scientist as moderator, MarketForum would quickly become a far right echo chamber too.......with everybody feeding off of each other and repeating the same far right ideology.

As witnessed on the previous page with all the links......there IS an objective, independent scientist as moderator........so that does NOT happen.

And the moderator sees it as an opportunity to assist others(that come from echo chambers) to see the big picture(both sides), based entirely on authentic facts, science and evidence.

Whether people here squander or take advantage of that opportunity is their choice but I'm grateful that you come here with your sincerely held opinions.

Tim,

I just realized that most of those links with many hundreds of DISinformation and delusional posts from republicans telling us things that are not real but are made up for the political agenda/ideology  did not feature many comments by you......and you insisted that I elaborate and that it would be fun........so with that in mind, I thought it only fair to include you personally in that fun.........since this is what you asked for.

I added a couple of very long threads which featured you insisting vehemently, over a dozen times  that Derick Chauvin did not kill George Floyd.

The drugs killed him not the cop, Tim, Gunter and mcfarm insisted over and over.

That Derrick Chauvin should have been found innocent. The jury was very much worried about the safety of their families if they came out with a not guilty verdict,   "a thought that  probably spooked around in all the jurors minds" according to Gunter.

I can't believe ypu honestly want to go here,  but here we are.

This was the first instance where I felt your crediblity took a hit.   You formed your opinion based on what you saw in the video, and damning as it was,  it was not all, or even the most significant evidence presented.

We had an autopsy report that showed 5 times the fatal level of drugs and absolutely no tissue damage in the area where Chavin had been kneeling.  You refered to the autopsy as "Flimsy Evidence".  News flash. That was the most significant evidence in the trial,  even if it did shatter your beliefs.  The fact that you dismissed it as flimsy.......

There were lots of opinions from people who weren't there, people who never examined the body, lots or dramatic heart wrenching moments,  like his GF talking about how they prayed together,   but none of these had any bearing on the case or cause of death.

We had at least one juror who had absolutely no business being there.  He had been photographed at a protest in DC prior to the trial wearing a T shirt with the logo "Get your knee off my neck".

Any objective person who places value on facts would have come to the conclusion that the actions by the police that day were not the primary, and very likely not a contributing factor in Floyd's death.

The fact that you consider this exchange one of your "success stories" is quite telling.

I didn't reopen the debate about the innocence of Derrick Chauvin, as you think happened..........I'm elaborating, as you requested about THIS NEW TOPIC and now, it's turned out to be less fun than you anticipated.

I am being 100% straight with you that this, and the other examples were exactly what I was referring to with my previous statement that you asked me to elaborate on.

I'm guessing that  this is not what you expected at all.

That's because you are always thinking with Tim's mind.

When that's the ONLY mind that you are capable of thinking with..........then you completely miss the points (some good ones) from other people that don't think EXACTLY like you.

Group think, tribalism and people that like to go to echo chambers that repeat messages they like/want to read/hear........that's the biggest problem we have in this country right now.

That's my entire lesson with these last several posts. Not necessarily that all those posts were anti science, anti factual, anti evidence DISinformation but that they were all points based on people believing in things that are "just not real" because they refuse to believe in the other sides REAL points because........THEY CAME FROM THE OTHER SIDE.

The total inability to see the other sides views, most of it self imposed is what's behind all those views in all those posts/threads above.

It's also what metmike meant in saying that both sides do this which you asked for more elaboration on.

We finished the WHAT you thought about innocence/guilt discussion and WHY you came to those conclusions months ago on the Chauvin trial.

This is just me using that discussion as an example of WHY you choose to gravitate to one extreme side to form your opinions.

MM, This is why debating with you is so entertaining.

You make a statement like this:

I added a couple of very long threads which featured you insisting vehemently, over a dozen times  that Derick Chauvin did not kill George Floyd.

and  in your next response, say:

No Tim, YOU insisted we go there!

I didn't reopen the debate about the innocence of Derrick Chauvin, as you think happened..........I'm elaborating, as you requested about THIS NEW TOPIC and now, it's turned out to be less fun than you anticipated.

And then you accuse me of "Thinking with Tim's mind"..   Do you suggest I use someone else's mind?  Is that what you do?  How many "other minds" do you use?

Anyway, I read through some of your "supporting" links" and what you are documenting are times when you have disagreed with posters here.  I know that in these disagreements, you feel you emerge victorious with your superior fact checking,  but it's really not always the case.   But I digress.

This latest evolution of this conversation began when Cutworm offered an explanation of the motivation for "Let's go Brandon" is that people are sick of the lies we see from the Dem Party. (Not opinions and dubious facts (In your opinion) from fellow posters.)

Before you go off half cocked, I am not saying the dems have a monopoly on lies.  Lying is part of politics and Trump was right up there with the best/worst, and he really sucked at it. There are plenty of untruths from all sides.

I am talking about the dems fundamental messaging.  Their stated vs their apparent mission.  Dems have embraced Socialism and are doing everything in their power to transform the US to that eco-model.   But they know that the majority of American Voters are not at all on board with that and if they are honest about their intentions, they'll lose every election outside of California and possibly New York.  So, they engage in all sorts of distractions and misdirections.

I think/hope the game they have been playing for the last few decades is coming to an end.  We'll know more next November.

In closing,  it's year end and I am very busy with a lot of projects at work, so I oinly have a few minutes a day for the Forum.

Happy New Year in advance.  2021 has been a challenge in so many ways.

Thanks Tim,

The objective is not for me to be victorious. As I've mentioned a dozen times, I'm not your adversary or the enemy. I'm an authentic friend.

The objective is the truth based on authentic facts and science to be victorious and for everybody here to learn things.

I also mentioned that I've learned more here in the last 3.5 years as moderator as in the previous 15 years. Some of it from others, like you and much of it from self imposed research to provide definitive/reliable information/sources for everybody(especially via diligent fact checking). Always objective using the scientific method(trying to prove oneself wrong before having confidence that we are right).

I am just trying to share that.

Whether anybody wants to partake in the sharing is up to them.

I'm well aware of the mindset of people and not naive enough to think that my work will be universally RECEIVED with open arms.........in fact, it's the complete opposite.

The curse of cognitive bias and allure of being able to find dozens of sources that will tell us what we want to hear/read is what rules in this extraordinarily divisive country.

My objective is to play a positive role in having the opposite affect on people.

I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to reach so many people using Marketforum as a tool and know that there will always be some that have lights go ON in their heads on certain topics.......that were off before reading here.

You've made many wonderful contributions here Tim! The forum and metmike are extremely grateful for that and for your participating in so many conversations. You're a smart man and I look forward to reading more from you on both forums.
