1st: He claimed he was ordered to kill the man. Most people would be inclined to believe the soldier's story

Perhaps he did not have time to really consider the ramification's of his actions

Perhaps his training made him follow orders from a superior

Who knows what went through his thoughts if any really did

Now the russians have over 2000 captured Ukraine soldiers from that steel factory plus many others

Their instinct will be to torture, kill or otherwise make life exceedingly difficult as retribution for their soldier sentence

Yes that russsian soldiers deserved to be punished

But some times you have to look at the bigger picture

Perhaps some day the war will be over

Why not wait until then and hopefully as many as possible are returned home to Ukraine

Then start with war crimes charges

In the mean time, just keep him in jail

Irsreal was really  good at tracking down Nazis yrs after the fact

At least consider the big picture and possibilities

That russian sentence to life in jail may have done more harm than good

Do you really think the russians will be a more gentle army, due to possible war crimes

It looks as if that is the last thing on their thoughts

Putin thinks he will win and the winner makes the rules
