Nice band of rain in the WCB today over some of the driest, high producing corn/bean fields in the country pressured the markets today, along with crude crashing lower and no major heat coming up.

Rains recently:

Dry areas in the southwest belt saw the most deterioration but also are getting rains today in some of those spots.

U.S. #corn at 57% good/excellent ties with 2019 for the week's worst since 2012, and it is down from 62% a year ago. The latest decline was led by a 7-pt drop in top producer Iowa, where corn was 80% g/e just 3 weeks ago. South Dakota posts a big 9-pt cut.

Large increases in smaller soy states helped partially offset an 8-pt plunge in Iowa #soybeans, now at 63% good/excellent. Nebraska dropped 6 and Kansas/South Dakota fell 5 pts each. 58% g/e nationally compares w/ 57% a year ago and 74% in 2020.
