Export inspections for U.S. #soybeans last week were good - but perhaps at the expense of #corn and #wheat. 52% of last week's beans were inspected at the Gulf, 34% at PNW. 71% of all bean inspections last week were destined for #China.

#China imported 4.14 million tonnes of #soybeans in October - the lowest volume for any month since October 2014. USA's Sept. export troubles played a role. Jan-Oct imports of 73.2 mmt are -7.5% on the year. Chinese soymeal supplies are very tight and prices are near record.

Low river levels slowed U.S. exports in Sept. 2022, and hurricane damage at ports was limiting in Sept. 2021. You can see China's bean imports lower in both years. Brazil also exported fewer soybeans in Sept 22 than 21. China's Nov/Dec arrivals will pick up.

U.S. export sales were weak last week, especially #corn (lowest for week since 2012, again). Sales of #soybeans were no better than average for the week but on the low side of expectations. This week, cumulative 22/23 soy sales slipped below last year for the first time.
