Money managers added ~4k f&o contracts to their net long in CBOT #soybeans - 123,569 contracts is funds' most bullish since June. They bought 4.8k #soyoil contracts, raising net long to 58,130. That follows an epic soyoil selloff at the start of December.

Last week marked the first time since October 2020 where money managers' net long in CBOT #soybeans was LARGER than their net long in CBOT #corn.

Money managers' net short in CBOT #wheat fell to 59.3k f&o contracts from 63k a week earlier, driven mostly by their first short covering round in 11 wks. Funds are on the brink of a net short in KC wheat w/ a net long just 1.2k as of Dec. 20. They've been bullish since Sep 2020.

Throwback time... who remembers this one? This is to help physically picture the volume of #soybeans heading to top buyer #China each year. In it's record season 2020/21, China effectively ordered 200M hot tubs full of beans. But sadly, without the actual hot tubs.

#Drought has eased in the last two months in parts of the Midwest & Mid-South but has distinctly worsened in #wheat-heavy western Kansas. 49% of the USA is covered by drought this week - the least since Sept. That's down from 59% both 1 & 2 months ago. Peak was 63% in late Oct.
