Despite Trump’s Lobbying, McCarthy’s Speaker Bid Remains Imperiled on the Right

Representative Kevin McCarthy is dealing with a group of right-wing detractors who appear impervious to negotiation, and who have yet to be moved even by the entreaties of the former president.

Kevin McCarthy’s problem: historically unpopular with a historically small majority    https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/01/politics/house-speaker-vote-mccarthy-history-polling/index.html

I find the house GOP in open internal warfare to be ironic.

First, the "Freedom Caucus" (also known as election deniers) gained leverage in negotiating with McCarthy over the rules and committee assignments because the slim majority gives them leverage.  The slim majority is due to the poor performance of the GOP in the midterms.  The poor performance in the midterms is a result of the election deniers losing in swing districts.  So they hurt the GOP numbers and gain power.

The gift that keeps giving.

I'D FIND IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO VOTE FOR MCCARTHY.  HE'S ROBOTIC & SHOWS LITTLE EMOTION OR PASSION FOR HIS JOB, IMO. (EXCEPT WHEN HE GETS THE OCCASSIONAL "WIN")

LIKE MOST PEOPLE, "POLO"TICIAN OR NOT ~ HE'S SELF-CENTERED, LOOKING OUT FOR ONLY HIS OWN SELF INTERESTS.

imagine that, several R's who are genuinely tired of the regular R's mediocre performances in midterms, spending like libs, wheeling and dealing behind the scenes instead of debating openly and honestly for the people they are supposed to be representing. Those twenty are as tired of the same o same o in DC as the rest of the country.

I DON'T BELIEVE IN "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" NEGOTIATIONS, IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

THAT'S WHERE MOST FOLKS SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS.

I APPLAUD THOSE THAT STUCK TO THEIR "GUNS", PUBLICLY
