Wow! We aren't shocked by Lemon being ousted after his demotion away from dying evening prime time ratings.

Interestingly, it was Fox stealing some of that away.

However,

Classical broadcast television is getting decimated by the new age of news sources and delivering methods.

Jean,

Not sure what the true relationship was between Hannity and Tucker but one of the best things that a show can have to help their ratings is a show with really high ratings BEFORE their show.

The lead in show will have tons of viewers that haven't changed the channel and you can see how Tucker (and others) at Fox used this every night going from 1 show to the next one.

Tucker signed off his show, not with commercials or see you tomorrow but with a brief segment between him and Hannity, like he was handing off the baton in a relay at a track meet that featured all the Fox shows, with all the stars passing off the viewers from their show, to the viewers of the next person. ….which, ideally are the same people.

this was intentional and very effextive at telling the audience of the ending show, that the new one starting up would feature the exact same brand of programming.

Hannity may get an initial bump from people that are intrigued by this and want to see what his response is or observe Fox without Tucker but this will greatly damage his show.

Along the same lines. I was the chief meteorologist at WEHT in Evansville for 11 years.  We were reminded of the importance of ratings all the time.

Things were said like "it doesn't matter what you do or say, as long as it gets people to watch you"  and "it doesn't matter if people love or hate you, as long as they watch you"

Along those exact same lines, since reading that Tucker was gone, I've been personally celebrating that the most diabolical, society damaging person in TV history is no longer poisoning the brains of his far right victims that gobbled up his off the charts nonsense/lies...............mixed in with a few profoundly relevant points that the left lies about. Problem was that none of his regular viewers could tell the difference between his facts and his massive fiction.

I was also feeling a sort of loss, because more often than not, I would flip the channel to Fox at 7pm to watch the guy I have such personal disdain for.  After all these years since leaving TV, I appreciated personally, the meaning of watching somebody because you hate them(after thinking that was sort of a dumb mentality-why would somebody watch a person they hated?)

However, our tv station, like others used focus groups and other viewer measuring metrics to tell us, specifically how people felt about the on air talent.

It was very well known that when a persons negative rating got beyond a certain point, especially with young people that there was almost no way to resurrect their likeability.

You can get viewers to like a person with all sorts of tactics or changes by them(we had talent coaches in many times  to work with us on changing things)  and this can help to make them more popular with every segment................except those that hate you.

Salvaging them is completely hopeless. It's the cognitive bias thing. Once people have decided they know something or have a strong opinion about somebody, they will process all new information so that it supports what they think that they know and rejects all information that contradicts it.

Here's a perfect example of a really smart, objective person doing it a couple of days ago on MarketForum:

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/topic/94709/#94715

I really doubt that Tucker is gone because of a small minority of people like me tuning it to hate him.

He had very high ratings, which count the most. Those ratings came from OLD people, who loved him. It's mostly young people that hate him. That COULD HAVE been a factor because it's clear that the future of video entertainment is NOT broadcast network television tv stations are doing back flips to attract younger viewers which are abandoning classical television in droves every single year, as shown above!

It's possible but still not likely that Fox is positioning to target a younger audience, which is the group they are not doing as well with. Still much more likely something else.

Alot of people speculate its related to Fox losing almost 1 billion dollars in the settlement  with Dominion that was a legal exclamation point/proof stamping into the psyche of American tv mentality that Fox is bs television.

This had to be the most embarrassing moment in the extremely successful career of their owner, R. Murdock.

This guy is no idiot and can tell the difference between authenticity and fraudulence and may have decided enough is enough, with some personal differences between him and his top charlatan.

Also, a potential wild card is that he's 92 and passing on his legacy to younger sons and others. THEY may have the problem with Tucker and been looking for a good reason to get rid of the top charlatan..........with the entire industry, right now desperate to stop the massive bleeding with it's younger viewers.

If that's the case, no way would Fox tell us. One thing that I can say with 100% certainty is that the top rated talent in the country in the evening with the most loyal, older viewers wants those viewers to think it was Tucker's decision as much as possible.

People that watched Tucker every night WILL BE upset and WILL feel betrayed by Fox if this was not Tuckers decision. Fox wants those viewers to stay and watch the new person. The Fox brand of television makes that still possible when they replace Tucker with another far right conservative. But the more they think Fox fired their favorite guy, the less people will want to go along with it by watching his replacement.

CNN fired Don Lemon and came out with a statement that it was mutual in order to dishonestly deflect this dynamic so Lemon lovers would still keep loving CNN. Lemon's statement told the truth about him NOT wanting to go but then, Lemon acted shocked that they did this to him. Most people saw it coming for many months. He had to know.

THERE'S NOT A SOUL ON EARTH THAT I DON'T LOVE ~ AND, I'M SOOOOOO GRATEFUL THE GOOD LORD DIDN'T COMMAND US TO LIKE ONE ANOTHER, TOO!!  LOL  WE'D ALL BE HELL BOUND & LIVE MISERABLY, EVER AFTER!  HAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

I DO WATCH "BOTH SIDES OF THE ISLE" ~ WHEN I BEGIN TO ALLOW MY DISLIKES TO RISE TO AN UNCOMFORTABLE LEVEL ~ I STOP WATCHING & LISTENING ~ THEN, I GO FIND SOMETHING PLEASANT TO OCCUPY MY MIND WITH. IT CAN TAKE DAYS FOR ME TO GO BACK TO NEGATIVE STUFF & I SURE DON'T MISS IT!  SADLY, I'M ONE THAT HAS ALWAYS NEEDED TO KEEP ABREAST OF WHAT'S GOIN' ON IN THE WORLD, THAT SHOULDN'T BE.....  THEN, AGAIN ~ THIS AIN'T HEAVEN

THIS WORLD IS NOT MY HOME

Oh Lord, You know I have no friend like you If heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do? The angels beckon me from heaven's open door And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

I have a loving mother just over in glory land And I don't expect to stop until I shake her hand She's waiting now for me in heaven's open door And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Thanks for the wonderful, uplifting message.

we should all aspire to be like that.

I have brief moments of feeling hatred for diabolical scoundrels when I read about them and what they did or what they are doing to hurt or victimize people, our country or the world.
who could not hate Putin, for instance?

then, I overcome it by remembering that hate does the most damage to the hater. Hating a person on tv or from another country accomplishes what??

exactly nothing.

my therapy, that completely replaces hate that is hard not to feel is to expose the charlatans, instead of hating them.

Expose them and the snake oil they sell!

makes me feel like I’m actually doing something productive and positive to fight against bad people and bad things.
they want to mess up the world, abuse people for self  serving interests using propaganda, disinformation and lies?

I‘ll fight back with authentic data, documented evidence and the truth to debunk and discredit them.

at least readers here will have the opportunity to know those things. It’s up to them whether to embrace interpretations that contradict what they want to believe.

almost impossible for many people. Almost impossible for most people to eliminate hate in their lives.

I congratulate you, Jean for doing that and sharing your success so that others can follow the good example.

From your article:

"That said, I did find it odd that everyone around me in the “liberal elite” media hated him so violently — the way they hated President Trump; but that when I pressed for concrete reasons why, they could not provide them. When my liberal friends and loved ones would roll their eyes and spit out “Tucker Carlson,” as if that name itself was epithet enough, I would often pester: “What? Why? What did he actually say?” I never got a good answer. So even in the depth of the Left’s vilification of him - even as I was still on the Left myself — I was keeping, faintly, an open mind."

+++++++++

She's completely making that up.

Here's  numerous HUGE reasons out of hundreds showing exactly What, Why and What Tucker said. I'm not even a person on the left and it took me less than 20 minutes to find the stuff below. This is just a sample from recent posts of mine.

To celebrate the anniversary of Jan 6, 2021, Tucker went into his delusional Ray Epps and the FBI caused the Insurrection screed again.

According to him it wasn't Donald Trump that caused the Insurrection,  it was this guy, Ray Epps that was  planted in the crowd by the FBI and convinced the crowd to break into the building.

I watch different stations to hear different views.

People that don't watch Fox may not be aware of this loony conspiracy theory or believe that somebody would actually broadcast such a retarded thing repeatedly and have millions of people convinced this happened.

If there ever was proof that people's critical thinking and intelligence can be stolen away by charismatic or convincing sounding political commentators...........this is it!

TUCKER CARLSON: Lies about January 6 have enabled unscrupulous people to make a mockery of our Bill of Rights

Tucker reflects on the many unanswered questions from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tucker-carlson-lies-january-6-enabled-unscrupulous-people-mockery-bill-of-rights

Keep in mind, Ray Epps is one of the only people caught on camera that day encouraging others to break the law. He's one of the only ones and yet he's never been charged and the January 6 Committee was on his side.

Did he talk about January 6 before it happened with any employee of the U.S. government? We don't know. We do know that two years after January 6, long after an awful lot of other people have gone to jail for walking around the Capitol building, Ray Epps is still a free man. He's never been charged, much less imprisoned in solitary confinement like so many others. Why is that?

Well, let's just stop lying. At this point, it's pretty obvious why that is. But of course, they're still lying about it.

Outrageous': Capitol Police Chief Condemns Tucker Carlson's Claims Jan. 6 Was ‘Mostly Peaceful'

Police Chief Tom Manger also addressed a specific claim by Carlson that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s death had nothing to do with the attack on the Capitol

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/outrageous-and-false-capitol-police-chief-condemns-tucker-carlsons-remarks-that-jan-6-was-mostly-peaceful/3294901/

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also condemned Carlson's comments Tuesday, saying, "Last night millions of Americans tuned into one of the most shameful hours we have ever seen on cable television."

Later in the day, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said: "With regard to the presentation on Fox News last night, I want to associate myself entirely with the opinion of the Chief of the Capitol police about what happened on January 6."

++++++++++++++++++++++

Tucker should be fired immediately for such an outrageous/blatant,  intentional and very dangerous violation of the truth in describing the worst attack on our Constitution in history as "peaceful" to brainwash his viewers and for ratings, telling them what they want to believe and suggesting it was actually all set up by the FBI to frame President Trump........who was innocent of any wrong doing.

This is way over the top and beyond freedom of the press rights protection because, literally, 10s of millions of viewers(captured brains) believe everything that he says.

Tonight on his show, he is arrogantly gloating and manically bragging over the attention that he's getting for being television's biggest piece of crap in broadcast history.

However, the way that Fox in the evening gets ratings, he is more likely to demand a pay raise for boosting his ratings than to be held accountable.

The impact of Fox News on the US COVID-19 vaccination campaign

https://cepr.org/voxeu/columns/impact-fox-news-us-covid-19-vaccination-campaign

Overall, our results support the interpretation that Fox News Channel promulgated a uniquely sceptical narrative about vaccines and that this narrative caught on and reduced uptake among the marginal vaccine recipient. We back this interpretation with the following observations.

First, in areas with higher exposure to Fox News Channel, respondents to a national survey reported higher COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. This agrees with a behavioural mechanism where Fox News Channel’s sceptical vaccine narrative affects vaccination rates by changing attitudes and intentions regarding the vaccine, discouraging in particular the population with low health-related risks.

Second, we consider whether the effects that we see might be driven by local healthcare capacity. If the difference in vaccination rates were due to healthcare capacity, we should see similar effects throughout all stages of the vaccination campaign. Yet we find there was no effect on vaccine uptake in the early months, when the vaccines were only available to older/at-risk individuals. Thus, we infer that the effect of cable news is most pronounced for relatively low-risk individuals, such as the younger population, helping to rule out an effect due to local healthcare capacity.

It could also be that the healthcare systems in areas with higher Fox News viewership systematically differ in their capability to handle a COVID-19 outbreak, for example, due to effects on local government funding (Galletta and Ash 2019). Or it could be that these counties suffered more cases and deaths in 2020 or in the period before the vaccinations. We find that Fox News Channel has no effect on measurements of local healthcare capacity, including the number of ICU beds, number of hospitals, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention–estimated risk indexes. We also rule out that the difference in uptake is due to differences in infections or deaths.

Third, as Fox News viewership has been shown to be correlated with voting Republican (Ash et al. 2021, DellaVigna and Kaplan 2007, Martin and Yurukoglu 2017), we check if partisan affiliation or political ideology are driving the Fox News effect. Republicans or conservatives could overall be more sceptical of the COVID-19 vaccine, indicating that the observed effect was driven by Fox News Channel increasing the number of Republicans or conservatives. Our results show that this is unlikely to be the case, as the effect of Fox News Channel on vaccine uptake holds in several tests that control for partisan affiliation and political ideology.

Finally, we consider whether Fox has affected general attitudes towards vaccines, for example through anti-science rhetoric. To check this, we look at the effects on seasonal flu vaccination rates (2017–2019) and conclude that the network does not contribute to a generic anti-vaccination sentiment and that the effect on COVID-19 vaccines is due to a COVID-specific narrative.

Conclusion

This column provides evidence that the main cable news television providers are affecting vaccination decisions, suggesting that Fox’s COVID-19 coverage is at least partially responsible for reducing vaccination rates. Fox News’ slanted media rhetoric is linked to vaccination hesitancy, producing significant behavioural effects in the under-65 population with low health risks. Future efforts by government agencies and health organisations to encourage vaccine uptake should account for how media narratives may strengthen or weaken those efforts.

Why did I suddenly bring this up?

Because anti COVID vax Tucker was on again tonight with his absurd DISinformation rhetoric about the COVID vaccination.

During his nonsense anti science segment, he repeated numerous times that more people are dying after getting vaccinated than people not vaccinated as if getting vaccinated increases your chances of dying from COVID.

What an irresponsible, unethical, truth distorting, ratings loving person...........because he's literally causing thousands of deaths by targeting the people that watch him and that watch Fox.

We know with certainty, that convincing them to not get vaccinated(see previous page) is causing those people that get COVID to die at a higher rate. There is a 100% chance of that based on proven, rock solid, immunology.

That's why he had Trump on last night.........ratings for his show. That's why Trump came on last night...........Tucker needs Trump for ratings, Trump needs Tucker to to brainwash  his supporters.

The bottom line is that Fox/Tucker benefit and Trump benefits at the expense of their believing  victims/viewers watching and R party.

And the Ds benefit too. The longer they can trick Rs into worshiping Trump, the more damage he can do to the R party and the more wins the NOT Donald Trump candidates can rack up.

i watched  some of those shows and would have been revolted but this is typical Tucker.

Stating outrageous, hateful lies to get attentions and attract block buster ratings and profits by harvesting the minds of far right republicans that he targets as his victims by manufacturing worlds that elevate  deranged thinking to being admirable.

Hannity immediately followed him with a similar mindset. Of course! It's the same 3 million people watching in anticipation of the same type of messages.

They have to watch Fox in the evening to get these messages. Only those people know these hidden secretive interpretations. That's the lure.

Only they know the truth about the fraudulent 2020 election. Only they know that the FBI had secret operatives, like Ray Epps on Jan. 6,  who intentionally riled up peaceful people and caused them to take a peaceful tour of the Capital building, intending no harm. Viewers eat this stuff up.

And Nancy Pelosi supposedly called off 20,000 state troopers that Trump wanted there for security.

Tucker Carlson Says Trans People Hate Christians Because They Won’t Accept Them as ‘Gods

The Fox News host accused the "transgender lobby" of hiding the Nashville shooter's manifesto

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/tucker-carlson-accuses-transgender-community-targeting-christians-1234705993/

For the second  night this week, Fox host Tucker Carlson accused the transgender community of targeting Christians with violence. The host has escalated his attacks on trans people in the aftermath of a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in which three third-grade students and three adults were killed.

Authorities identified the shooter as Audrey Hale, a transgender man. Even though acts of mass violence by transgender individuals are an extremely rare occurrence, Carlson has laid the blame for Hale’s actions on the transgender community as a whole.

“Transgenderists hate Christians above all, because Christians refused to join every other liar in our society and proclaim that transgenderists are Gods with the power to change nature itself,” Carlson told viewers.

“For that refusal,” Carlson continued, “that unwillingness to bow down and worship a false idol, in this case of transgenderism, they were murdered.”

MIKE, I DON'T LIKE TO READ & ESPECIALLY LONG ARTICLES ~ BOOKS, ETC.. WHEN I DO READ... I READ EACH WORD (THERE'S NO SPEED READING IN MY VOCABULARY)  I READ AS THO' I'M IN A VERBAL CONVERSATION.

MANY TIMES, I COMPREHEND WHAT I'VE READ, WAAAAY DIFFERENTLY THAN MOST ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS READ THE SAME PIECE.

I ACTUALLY CHUCKLED OUT LOUD AT YOUR RESPONSE OF:

"She's completely making that up.

Here's  numerous HUGE reasons out of hundreds showing exactly What, Why and What Tucker said. I'm not even a person on the left and it took me less than 20 minutes to find the stuff below. This is just a sample from recent posts of mine."

THE AUTHOR HAD WRITTEN:

"When my liberal friends and loved ones would roll their eyes and spit out “Tucker Carlson,” as if that name itself was epithet enough, I would often pester: “What? Why? What did he actually say?” I never got a good answer. So even in the depth of the Left’s vilification of him - even as I was still on the Left myself — I was keeping, faintly, an open mind."

THE AUTHOR DIDN'T SAY SHE DID A SEARCH. SHE WAS IN VERBAL CONVERSATIONS, WITH REAL PEOPLE, THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY BIASED..... BUT, COULDN'T COME UP WITH A REASONABLE ANSWER AS TO WHY. LOL

NOW, THAT THE "BEHIND THE SCENES" VIDEOS HAVE HIT THE AIRWAVES ~ I HAVE A WHOLE LOT LESS AMOUNT OF RESPECT FOR TUCKER.  THERE IS NEVER GOOD REASON FOR VILE / FILTHY LANGUAGE.... EVER, IMO.  IF THOSE THAT USE THAT LANGUAGE, THINK IT MAKES 'EM LOOK BIG & TUFF ~ THEY ARE SADLY MISTAKEN, IMO.  TO ME, IT MAKES 'EM LOOK LITTLE & SCARED...AND, VERY UNWORTHY OF MY TIME.

GOODNIGHT.

Thanks much, Jean.

Her comment didn't even come close to passing the smell test for me.

I showed you, not just  tons of Tucker's  comments and conspiracy theories in detail as they happened...........because I watch him  but stories bashing him that were being shouted from the liberal rooftops at other news outlets.

A liberal would have to be living in a cave to not know about what Tucker had been broadcasting and to respond the way that she stated. If instead, she had stated that she knew a couple of friend that didn't know, I could buy it.

However, she stated this:

"When my liberal friends and loved ones would roll their eyes and spit out “Tucker Carlson,” as if that name itself was epithet enough, I would often pester: “What? Why? What did he actually say?” I never got a good answer."

According to her, amongst all her liberal friends and loved ones, she NEVER GOT A GOOD ANSWER.

Jean,

In today's world, people frequently make stuff up to manipulate us into thinking the way they want us to think. Her statement in bold italics was doing that. Not just based on my opinion.

I showed you massive information about why anybody not from the far right would object to Tucker, including numerous shows that got widespread negative media  coverage, specifically for liberal eyes to see.

She pretends to be doing an objective analysis but what she really did was manufacture an impossible to believe scenario to manipulate how readers will think about people who dislike Tucker..............according to her, they don't even know why.

+++++++++++++

If instead, this lady was honest and stuck to a story that pointed out that Tucker sometimes made good points about some topics and defended what SHE stated on the show.......I would buy that.

But her motivation was to defend being on Tucker's shows and defend Tucker.

I could post several other absurd, truth contradicting quotes from her like this one:

"Carlson queries current madness from the same old-fashioned, deeply American premises that shaped me, and that shaped the last three remaining true Liberals, as well.

He seems to be refusing to let go of an America that actually holds journalists to the practice of journalism.

He seems to insist on not forgetting the America that saw everyone as equal based on “the content of their character.”

This is a delusional interpretation because the person who was blatantly violating those very principles more than anybody else on television was Tucker Carlson.

Again, read the stuff on my first response. It's the 100% proof of who Tucker was in the REAL world based on authentic facts.

I watched large segments of Tucker on many nights each week. Unlike almost all other people, that get their opinions from being told what to think by their favorite sources, I watch and listen to both sides. Then fact check/scrutinize and apply critical thinking and the scientific method (trying to prove ourselves wrong before knowing that we are right), then reach a level of discernment that is probably similar to the path of an objective judge in a long trial in court, He/she applies the laws to those charged with crimes in his courtroom based on educated discernment, with a consideration of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Most people today,  however are like, either the prosecuting attorney or the defense attorney.

They interpret every piece of evidence so that it lines up with that they want to believe. When it doesn't...........they discard it.

The amount of information available, thanks to the internet and broadcast sources you can get on tv, combined being 1 trillion times greater than what was out there 30 years ago.

Naturally, people go to sources that tell them what they want to hear/read.

You can point it out with incredible evidence, like in this example but it doesn't matter. People will always be drawn to sources that tell them what they want to hear and NOT seek out sources that contradict that. That indisputable law of human behavior is being exploited and marking the demise of human civility and political cooperation!

Individual communication sources will do everything possible to attract readers/viewers to sustain themselves. That includes politicians that need votes and use unethical schemes to appeal to their base.

Extremely advanced sources of communication have evolved to effectively capture the brains/thinking of most people in society today.

There is nothing which can turn it back.

Jean,

I know that you already see this very clearly and though I'm responding to your post, am  not trying to convince you of something that you don't already know.
