Ontario-based Canadian Solar Inc. will build an $800 million solar panel factory in southeastern Indiana that will employ about 1,200 workers once production is fully ramped up, the company said Monday.
Canadian Solar said it will build the new photovoltaic cell factory at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville, an Ohio River city located just north of Louisville, Kentucky.
Production is expected to begin by the end of 2025, with the plant producing the equivalent of about 20,000 high-power solar panels per day, said the company, which is headquartered in Guelph, Ontario.
You might wonder why a Canadian company would choose to build a factory in our country and not their's??
Giving Americans all the wonderful jobs and helping our economy and not Canada's??
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has committed to providing Canadian Solar with up to $9.7 million in tax credits and up to $400,000 in conditional training grants, among other incentives. The company can claim those state benefits once investments are made and employees are hired and trained.

The things they state below are laughable fiction. This bill will increase inflation, increase real pollution. INCREASE the cost of energy while DECREASING the reliability of the power grids and is extremely ANTI environmental. It's crony capitalism at its core!

I don't have a big problem with solar panels in areas with a high angled sun that shines most of the day and most of the year. They do only last 20-25 years, then go into landfills as waste.........which is a form of pollution. Unless they are on rooftops or other places, they often bump out areas that might otherwise be used productively, including for green plants/crops. They do require tearing up the earth to acquire the raw materials, so they are ANTI green/anti environmental big time.
This plant will create jobs though, no denying that but to sell it as a big win outside of that by hiding all the overwhelming authentic loser statistics is dishonest and part of the crony capitalism rewards causing it to spread.
Regardless, solar makes much more sense than large scale wind power.

The solar and wind energy stocks/index and business have been getting obliterated the last 2.5 years as the reality of the real world massive UNDERperformance compared to the fairy tale promises/expectations sink in.
They both made a high during the month that Biden was sworn in and have been going down ever since.
