From the get go they have only wanted to get every single country surrounding Russia to become part of NATO in order to do this. When charismatic actor, Zelensky won in 2019 by promising to negotiate peace with Russia, they saw their opportunity to use him for their objective........turn Ukraine into its most prized NATO, ANTI-Russian country.
Putin was NEVER going to allow this, especially in eastern Ukraine, where the majority of people speak Russian as their first language.

After recruiting Zelensky for their cause(promising him NATO's protection) they told him to stop the negotiations with Russia and NATO would take care of Ukraine.
They've turned Zelensky into a NATO publicity puppet rockstar, traveling around the western countries as a great hero, representing a fake Ukraine(one of the most corrupt countries in the world that has stopped democratic elections to ensure that Zelensky stays in office until they have accomplished their mission). Making compassionate pleas,to the western countries for weapons to arm his brave soldiers to go on suicide missions for NATO.
Now that he has killed half of them off for nothing …except to weaken Russia FOR NATO and by every reasonable standard, lost the war to Russia a very long time ago…..it’s time for NATO to step in and take over.

Since the politicians and media have continually lied about Ukraine's chances of winning from day 1, when will they tell us that Ukraine already lost a long time ago.
Imagine what telling the truth would be like today. It would obliterate chances to get another 60 billion. Who would support sending 60 billion more to a lost cause?
We would and we are.
So when this does eventually end, we will have ADDITIONAL LOSSES with no gains for our money. Money is a material item. The additional human loss of life from brave soldiers going on more suicide missions is irreplaceable. Their family members don't thank you, they curse you for doing this to them!

If we really supported Ukraine, we would give them the peace with Russia that they want most and that can be accomplished overnight.............but NATO must give up on having Ukraine.

1. How do you know that they came together to approve more Ukraine aid for the purpose of enriching themselves? Do you have proof? You don’t think that any of them want this aid based on sincere preferences?
A lot of folks, including up to 40-50% of Republicans, seem to think Russia is a potential big threat to free countries to Ukraine’s west and thus see the US as sharing in the responsibility of protecting them with money. It has been likened to a Churchill vs appeaser Chamberlain scenario. OTOH, you have repeatedly made excellent points on why you don’t support more aid (about as good as anyone I’ve read). But again, nowhere near everyone agrees with your assessment no matter how strongly you feel about your position/no matter how many times you repeat it. Big disagreements are normal for any issue.

I'm always learning new things here and that includes be reminded of things that I already knew but don't always apply.
I've discussed this one many times and learned it first from the focus groups/surveys that I got to see from our tv station/WEHT when they were doing research.
There are several different levels of opinions that people have about a person/group or topic. I'll generalize with 5 categories that we can all relate to:
1. You like them a great deal
2. You like them a little
3. You are indifferent
4. You dislike them a little
5. You can't stand them or hate them
While the implications to what I'm going to state, will seem to be obvious, the extent of it is UNDER estimated by most people.
In the tv business, in order to make money, you must get people to watch. It's not nearly good enough to provide quality programming. You MUST give them what THEY want. Regarding that, if a TV personality or program is in the category #5 with XX% of viewers(threshold depends on the situation), it means you MUST fire/remove that person or replace that program. There is no way to salvage them. NONE! It's impossible because of the nature of human psychology. Once people hate a public figure or program they will almost NEVER EVER like it and almost NEVER tolerate it or see anything good about it. People will almost always interpret EVERYTHING about entities in #5 negatively..........regardless of how positive the reality is or who the viewer is. Even normally rational/open minded people. They totally discard open minded/objectively when the emotion hate defines their opinion about something.
With category #4 you can salvage the person/topic/show with the right promotions/advertising and adjustments to match up with what people want. It's tough but you at least have a chance to flip them to liking them. At the same time, people in #4 are more likely to reach #5, in the absence of substantive changes.
Category #3 people are the ones you target the most. They're on the fence and can be persuaded to go either way because they are unbiased, objective with no strong opinions.
Category #2/#1: You want to try to lock in this group and keep them happy because they are part of your core viewers. It's means they like what you are doing now and/or the people you have. These are the people already watching because people watch what they like. You don't want to lose them. However, in category #1, you can do no wrong as long as you keep giving them something resembling what they come to you for.
..........but then, what if that same programming/people is generating #5 people? Bottom line is that you have to make tough decisions. If the #5 numbers are small and #1 and #2 numbers are big, you don't fix something that isn't broken You cater to what people like about you/the program and go after people in #3 and even #4. However, you write off people in #5 forever. They can almost NEVER be coerced into liking something when their minds are automatically conditioned to interpret EVERYTHING about that something negatively. You have no chance. It's built into the psychology of people's emotions and they apply them to the real world.

Fast forward 3 decades to 2024. There are dozens of situations in our world today where people have opinions. Climate change. The 2 wars. The southern border. Crime. Individuals, like politicians in the public realms.
People with strong opinions in categories #1 and #5, have already made up their minds and will interpret everything so that it lines up with what they've already decided they know to reinforce what they think they know about that person/topic.
So let use the most extreme example of this in history. Donald Trump and MAGA.
We've witnessed the profound proof of the above in a way never seen before with Trump. The millions of Trump supporters in #1, when faced with negative news about Trump, interpret it in a way so that it actually STRENGTHENS their support for him. I've never seen anything like it in my lifetime and have discussed this before. No matter what, Trump can do no wrong. When attacked, he's a victim and everybody else is wrong. While some of this "victim" and being targeted is very valid, the MAGA crowd even interprets his blatant crimes/diabolical schemes to overturn the most secure election in history as THE OTHER SIDE being wrong because their minds believe that Trump is always right.
At the same time, we have the other side of the coin with the #5s that have been diagnosed with TDS(Trump Derangement Syndrome) in this age. They intensely hate Donald Trump and MAGA so much that when faced with positive elements and news, will interpret it to hate Trump/MAGA even more. Doesn't matter how much proof/evidence there is and how right MAGA is in the real world...........THEIR MINDS have TDS which automatically believes that EVERYTHING that Trump/MAGA stand for or do is wrong. It's their minds basic assumption that trumps a Mt. Everest amount of information in the real world.
In the last election, we basically had 2 people running.

People voting AGAINST Donald Trump gave Joe Biden the win.

Everybody with TDS, instead of looking at these profoundly powerful, very convincing/irrefutable facts........takes the opposite position of the facts because their TDS tells their minds what to think NOT the facts.
There are other, NON TDS reasons to believe the propaganda/lies that I've clearly exposed here but MAGA hating people by definition in their minds, use that as a reason to take the opposite position of these facts........in fact, to be unable to even recognize the facts as evidence/proof.
By definition, everything Trump and MAGA stands for is wrong. That's their minds assumption and all information is processed via confirmation/cognitive bias to line up with that.
That's the way it is with thousands of other topics in our world but when it comes to Trump/MAGA that effect is amplified to a level never witnessed before in my lifetime. With the election coming up, both sides are getting even MORE extreme because they want the other side to lose so badly.

So, I'm not doubting that the MIC has a lot of sway over politicians. But you were talking as if that's about the only way someone would want to approve more aid. Even if assuming your view is accurate, I was asking what the proof is that the only reason MJ/46% of GOP and 100% of Dems voted for more aid was enriching themselves. Different people look at things differently as you know.
I saw a report early today on CNN that MJ may have changed his mind because as speaker one gets additional intelligence. He read one of these new pieces of intel late last week that apparently caused him to go home and reassess. Also, he went home and prayed for divine guidance. We know he's a devoted Christian and thus that sounds sincere to me. He came out of that reassessment/prayer session with a surprising change on his position due to a feeling he was now obligated to approve aid.

BTW, thinking as a chess coach for 3 decades(which is just like a war game using different strategies)it’s always appeared as if Putin is playing chess with his 3 times bigger military and weapons and NATO is playing checkers and getting crushed, sending Ukrainian soldiers on suicide missions to take out some of Russias army as they get pulverized.
If this were chess for both sides, then the rules have been altered so that when Russia‘s pieces are killed and removed from the board…..they get to replace them with new pieces!

It's come to my attention that some of the Ukraine war news is being blocked from different servers that Americans use. I noticed this before but especially so overnight when using a different server on my Ipad than the one I use on my computer.
It's crystal clear that all this 61 billion is going to do is drag out the war for XX more months

The only chance that NATO has is if it sends our troops in because Ukraine's army has been decimated. The callousness, lack of humanity and American arrogance/superiority of that statement should not be lost. It's ok to send our weapons (and not negotiate for peace) to sustain a never ending war when worthless Ukrainian lives are being lost and not American lives.
Ironically, this decision to subsidize and continue the war, which WILL KILL EVEN MORE UKRAINIANS, only makes it more imperative that NATO send soldiers to replace Ukraines rapidly diminishing army that we are killing off by doing this.
Like the last 2 years, we will likely be reading more lies and propaganda the rest of this year about how Ukraine is now fighting back and winning the war. Think about the last 2 years of reading this crap-ola. Why would you suddenly believe it now?
The main thing that will be happening, thanks to this additional 61 billion is that 2 sides of brave soldiers (that don't want to and shouldn't have to be there) will be killing and disabling each other. There is another potential outcome. NATO gets so desperate that they send NATO troops to replace dead and permanently disabled Ukrainian troops.
If that happens, WW3 with a likelihood that Putin will resort to nuclear weapons becomes extremely likely.
We just don't get it. Putin is NOT going to let NATO have Ukraine, no matter what he has to do. It's insane that NATO can't just agree to not have Ukraine instead of blaming Putin for everything. NATO can end this war today as it could every day since before it started.
