I was on Long Island that day. You could see forever that morning. I had the tv on when the second plane hit. Drove to the west end of Jones Beach. People were stopped along the causeway. The towers were belching black smoke that drifted like a ribbon along the shore. Then they were gone. My friend George Howard was murdered that day. He was Port Authority police. G W Bush held up George's badge during his speech. I'll never forget.

The one positive thing about this event was that it profoundly united our country.

We weren't so politically divided 23 years ago, like we are today but after this unprecedented attack on our nation, people didn't care what party you affiliated with.

This article is 3 years old:

Two Decades Later, the Enduring Legacy of 9/11

This is a good one!!!

Our corrupt government and the military-industrial-political-media complex exploited 9/11 to get us into Middle East wars.

Look how long we stayed in Afghanistan AFTER the majority of people wanted us to get out.

Sadly, the risk of terrorism has been ramping up again, especially with our open borders and involvement in wars that incentivize the other side to attack us )-:
