It's no secret how I have always felt about this great, very underappreciated man!

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Passes Away at 100

https://www.cartercenter.org/news/pr/2024/statement-on-president-jimmy-carter-122924.html

What he did to make the world a better place, using his recognition and power as a former president blows away anything any of our greatest presidents did......by a wide margin!

I am very sad but happy at the same time.

Happy for the world that he made so much better.

Happy for having the privilege to know such a great person in my lifetime. To be touched and influenced in a positive way by him.

To vote for him in 1976, my first election when I was 20 years old......at the time having no clue about the decades of incredible achievements that he would play a key role in.

I'll be remembering these 2 dates in 2024, November 21 and December 29 forever because they were the dates when heaven received 2 of God's greatest creations that devoted their entire, talented lives to lifting up other people and making the world a better place, by applying their faith........while we/I got to witness it all and benefit directly.

May Jimmy Carter rest in peace. He was a great man regardless of how one sees his presidency. He was arguably a better ex-Pres and maybe one of the best.

Thanks very much, Larry!

His mindset was always focused on lifting other people up and telling the truth......even when the truth was inconvenient and resulted in some hard pills to swallow.

Remembering former President Jimmy Carter

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/jimmy-carter-death-12-30-24/index.html

             What you need to know

            • Carter dies at 100: Tributes continue to pour in after Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, died on Sunday. He was surrounded by his family at his home in Plains, Georgia, in his final moments.

            • State funeral: Carter’s official state funeral in Washington, DC, will be held on January 9, the White House confirmed Monday. President Joe Biden has declared January 9 as a national day of mourning and will deliver a eulogy at Carter’s funeral service.

                • Carter’s legacy: Carter was the oldest living former US president and the first to reach 100. He led enduring foreign policy initiatives, including a peace deal between Israel and Egypt, the normalization of relations with China, and the treaties that gave Panama control of the Panama Canal from the US.

            • Carter’s early life: Carter was a peanut farmer and US Navy lieutenant before going into politics. He served as governor of Georgia, and as US president from 1977 to 1981.

Do we measure a man/woman, only by what they did while serving a 4 or 8 year term in 1 office for 1 country?

Or by the many decades of their lives before and after that IN ADDITION to that brief period?

It depends on the realm!

If you are Michael Phelps-swimming or Jesse Owens-track that set world records in the Olympics IN THEIR PRIME, then those brief periods get most of the weighting.

If you did great things for the United States during the most challenging time in our country's history, like the Civil War-Abraham Lincoln OR George Washington, our first president........then that brief period gets a ton of EXTRA weighting.

If you lived to be 100 and spent your entire life dedicated to making the world a better place with more peace and better living conditions for the poor and passing on positive messages of love  from God and setting a wonderful, sustained/constant example of  honor and integrity for the entire world during all of those years...........then IT ALL ADDS UP TO SOMETHING CUMULATIVELY MASSIVE!

Jimmy Carter was a Scout leader and Silver Buffalo winner known for telling great stories around the campfire

What are the Scout Oath and Scout Law?

I was den leader for both my sons in Pack 350. Then adult leader for Troop 350 for 25 years. I ran the Fall Festival, was a troop committee member, taught merit badges in personal fitness, weather,  chess and more!

Before I looked this up, I just knew that Jimmy Carter must have been active in the local scouts in his community.

Practice the Boy Scout Oath and Law!

Imagine this country if people tried to do this  a few days a week?

Hey, never too late to start!

The poor little baby isn’t happy about flags being at half staff on Inauguration Day for Jimmy Carter but I’m not the least bit shocked:

https://people.com/donald-trump-upset-flags-will-fly-at-half-staff-for-jimmy-carter-during-inauguration-8769248?

Quoted from elsewhere but I think it is very well put:

“That is the same thing he said about disabled vets missing limbs being in his  parade.  The man is a total piece of shit.  My apology to pieces of shit.”

Thanks very much, Larry!

Jimmy Carter earned the total love and respect of BILLIONS around the world because he was the quintessential "everything that is good"  about human beings. He exploited his power and influence to maximize the benefits for humankind and the world his entire life. Everything he did was unselfish. He was an ANTI Narcissist.

I did a little comparison for mcfarm a short while ago between Carter and Trump. Actually, I could add a few more to the list below!

"the second worse President of all time Carter."

Thanks, mcfarm!

Let's go ahead and compare the attributes of your favorite president and mine below.

The flag should fly at half-staff for 30 days at all federal buildings, grounds, and naval
vessels throughout the United States and its territories and possessions after the death
of the president or a former president.

Jimmy Carter to lie in state at US Capitol

Something that cracked me with irony in the title was the first 4 words........."Jimmy Carter to lie"

He was the president that lied the LEAST in my lifetime.
