I should have started this one earlier in the week but was focusing on our local situation as it caused the cancellation of our Scholastic Chess of Indiana tournament on Saturday at McCutchanville Elementary. Now rescheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025.

LaSalle County, Ill. 1-2 forecasted and 3 already on the ground with 2 more hours of "now" predicted snow to come.
We had missed the previous snow altogether. Very light, powder snow, moves easily.
Snow and sleet accumulations are forecast for eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Thursday into Friday. Widespread 2 to 9 inches of snow/sleet accumulation with locally higher amounts are forecast for the area with the heaviest corridor of snow across southeast Oklahoma into western Arkansas. Travel is expected to become dangerous Thursday into Thursday night.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of North and Cetral TX until noon today. Light snow/freezing drizzle may cause some minor ice accumulations throught the morning hours mainly on elevated surfaces. Conditions will improve this afternoon
It has been a while since many of us have had to drive in snow. Now would be an exceptional time to review winter weather driving.

The Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory are valid until 6 p.m. this evening. Roads are snow-covered and travel has proven hazardous for the morning commute. Slow down or stay home if possible!
Snow, heavy at times. Snow will mix with sleet, freezing rain and rain across north Mississippi and east-central Arkansas. Precipitation will taper off from west to east this afternoon. Highs in the lower to mid 30s.

A Winter Storm Warning continues for northern AL and southern Middle TN until 6 AM Saturday. Periods of snow, possibly including a period of freezing rain or sleet is expected. Travel will quickly become very hazardous! Be careful if you must travel - slow down, don't use cruise control, and increase distance between you and the car in front of you. Also, pack an emergency kit for your car!
