JD Vance has blistering response for Catholic bishops who criticized ICE raids in churches: ‘Worried about their bottom line’

https://nypost.com/2025/01/26/us-news/jd-vance-hits-conference-of-catholic-bishops-over-ice-raids-in-churches-criticism/

OK, I'll start a new thread just for this topic, immigration.

My entire life, I've been strongly PRO (legal) immigration and still am. Also, extremely supportive for the US to send massive money to less fortunate countries (humanitarian aid) because we are rich and they need our help.

Unfortunately, like many other political issues, this one features extremes on both sides that can't see the points of the other side.

With regards to the blame for Trump's current knee jerk, OVER reaction on immigration. We should be putting that blame on Joe Biden, whose intentional, broken immigration policies led to many millions of unvetted ILLEGAL immigrants coming into our country.  Breaking our laws to come here and getting away with that crime because the BIden administration and Ds, intentionally encouraged them to break our immigration laws to be here.

The vast, VAST majority of them are good people. Here to work hard and to obtain a better life. Willing to work much harder than most Americans. In a position to appreciate basic things that Americans take for granted.

The type of people we WANT in our country.

But here's the problem and its almost entirely Joe BIden's fault.  We only have room for X number of these people each year because our school systems, housing and other systems are built/designed to accommodate X number of people. With gradual population growth, communities can use good planning to adjust based on the increasing needs of those communities.  It's not rocket science.

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/topic/107416/

What happened the past 4 years was very much in excess of what  hundreds of communities could plan for.  It not only created chaos, it caused excessive burdens and suffering to people in all those communities that could not have been prepared for a sudden increase of 10%+ in the needs of that community.

One side wants to pretend that its all about how rich we are because they don't want to appreciate these facts or they are just happy having their immigration 101 intelligence stolen by the pro immigration no matter what D party.

You can blame Trump for OVER reacting right now but this OVER reaction is to Biden's illegal immigration crisis that he INTENTIONALLY caused. This topic, by itself got Joe Biden/Kamala Harris fired. The people expressed themselves in shocking fashion last November.

if Biden/Harris had only allowed, mostly legal immigrants into our country, and at  a rate our country can reasonably manage, they might still be in office right now.

The people spoke loud and clear and Trumps platform, though not realistic featured emphatically MASS DEPORTATION OF ILLEGALS, in addition to stopping new ones from getting in. Why did that get him millions of additional votes?

Biden and Harris's illegal immigration crisis that people wanted fixed is the answer!

When Harris ran on a campaign of fixing the illegal immigration crisis, she was promising "If you elect me, I promise to suddenly metamorphose into a person that will fix what I intentionally broke the last 4 years and my previous position before that”

People were like: ”give us a break! No way can we believe that donkey dung. At least the other person will do some of what he promises (instead of the opposite) even if he embellishes and makes extreme, impossible promises.

Immigration surge under Biden is largest in US history: NYT

The immigration surge under President Bidenhas been the largest in U.S. history, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The U.S.’s net migration per year, which is how many people exit the country subtracted from how many people enter, came out to an average of 2.4 million people between 2021 and 2023, the Congressional Budget Office said, according to the Times. Overall, under the Biden administration, net migration has a high chance of topping 8 million people, the Times reported.

According to the Times, the total number of 2021-23 arrivals is the highest in U.S. history over any three-year span, and by a share of the total U.S. population, it is the highest in nearly 175 years.

Trump continues to be easily the most divisive Pres of my lifetime. I saw that in 2015-6 and I knew right even then I couldn’t vote for him. Everyone since for me has been a not-Trump vote.

And the awfulness gets worse and worse. Four more years of this! Ughh!

I read you loud and clear, Larry. Trump emphasizes using merit to hire people and use them in the military while at the same he displays complete lack  of the presidential leadership that could ever bring our country together……..one of the most important qualifications of a merit based presidential position.

Trump has taken a play right out of the left's play book.

Someone made a terribly major mistake

Just my 2 cents

cutworm,

Do you think that our country will be more divided or less divided at the end of President Trump's term?

Donald Trump's Approval Rating Is Soaring

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-approval-rating-soaring-2024180

Nonetheless, polls suggest that Trump's surging popularity may be driven by support for his agenda on immigration. Trump made immigration a central theme of his successful presidential campaign and has since taken steps to rebuild a wall across the southern border and to hold the largest mass deportation event in history.

According to Quinnipiac's latest poll, a majority of voters (60 percent) approve of sending U.S. troops to the southern border with Mexico to enforce border security, while 36 percent disapprove. The poll also showed that more than 4 in 10 voters (44 percent) support deporting all undocumented immigrants and sending them back to their home countries, while 39 percent only support deporting immigrants convicted of violent crimes, and 6 percent oppose both scenarios, with 10 percent not offering an opinion.

Meanwhile, a poll by AtlasIntel conducted between January 21 and 23, showed 69 percent of Black voters approve of Trump's job performance, compared to 50 percent of white voters, which could be explained by Black voter's support for Trump's immigration policies. According to the poll, 72 percent of Black voters see immigration as a key challenge for the U.S., ranking it higher than any other issue.

I just don’t get why he imposed tariffs on Canada. Theres no upside and a great deal of downside.

Thousands of wonderful products coming in from a wonderful trading partner and good friend that he’s slapping a 25% tariff on without good justification.

Is he trying to raise money to pay off the debt?
That and everything else related to this seems very bad.
