The US has the most coal reserves of any country in the world.

So what have we been doing  to take advantage of that?

Shutting down coal fired power plants and trying to keep the coal in the ground  Because of a fake climate crisis, the result of CO2 emissions from burning coal that are greening up the planet and boosting crop yields via photosynthesis by 26%.

Rescuing the planet from near CO2 starvation 100+ years ago. At 428 ppm we are still less than half of the optimal level for most life(900 ppm)

Coal, natural gas and oil are the only AUTHENTIC green energy sources!!!

For most people, what I just stated can't compute in brains that have been taught to process/interpret up=down and down=up.

Is this the market telling us that coal supplies will be increasing again? Coal prices favorable/competitive with other energy sources?

thanks, cutworm!

Thats a very profound question and topic that deserves much more discussion.

i would have thought that this market would have been the first one that  Musk went after to cut government waste.

However, since Tesla Has made billions from it, he has instead chosen to look the other way.

The president-elect has asked Elon Musk to wage war on regulations — some of which helped make Tesla the world’s most valuable automaker.

Tesla built Musk’s vast wealth through climate credits. Trump may end them.
                      https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/18/musk-tesla-climate-credits-trump-00198794

Elon Musk has said America is being “strangled to death” by regulations. But the billionaire’s car company, Tesla, might not have survived without them.

The electric automaker earned $10.7 billion from selling credits created by government climate programs — a total that accounted for a third of Tesla’s profits over the last decade, according to an analysis of securities filings by POLITICO’s E&E News. In the first nine months of 2024, some 43 percent of its net income came from those credits, which Tesla sold to rival carmakers after exceeding climate mandates in California and elsewhere.

+++++++++++++++++++++

It's been 3 months now and Musk has been cutting dozens of programs that are far more worthy than this complete waste of  money. But he's left it alone.

This by itself is profound evidence that Musk is more concerned about his own self interests than those of Americans. Thanks  for bringing this up cutworm. I just learned something new thanks to you!

Added: the programs and markets used to regulate carbon credits are different than most others on the Musk list  and this is mainly being imposed in liberal, D hold jurisdictions but  he seems to have free rein with regards to going after any waste.

Here's more about regulation that is all about crony capitalism and political agenda, while doing exactly ZERO to help the environment or to solve a fake climate crisis.

It's amazing what corrupt powerful people will do to manipulate markets with fraudulent schemes.

Even their graphic, supposedly showing CO2 pollution coming out of smoke stacks is a complete fraud.

CO2 is an odorless, INVISIBLE and beneficial gas greening up the planet.

And CO2 is a gas and a completely different substance than carbon, which is a solid.

            Nature

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nature

Nature is an inherent character or constitution,[1] particularly of the ecosphere or the universe as a whole. In this general sense nature refers to the laws, elements and phenomena of the physical world, including life. Although humans are part of nature, human activity or humans as a whole are often described as at times at odds, or outright separate and even superior to nature.[2]

During the advent of modern scientific method in the last several centuries, nature became the passive reality, organized and moved by divine laws.[3][4] With the Industrial Revolution, nature increasingly became seen as the part of reality deprived from intentional intervention: it was hence considered as sacred by some traditions (Rousseau, American transcendentalism) or a mere decorum for divine providence or human history (Hegel, Marx). However, a vitalist vision of nature, closer to the pre-Socratic one, got reborn at the same time, especially after Charles Darwin.[2]

Billions of years on the left.

Note above, that we owe everything to Photosynthesis:

The optimal level of the beneficial gas, CO2 for photosynthesis is around 900 parts per million for most plants and life. We are still less than half that optimal level:

Optimal CO2 for life more than double current level: See the proof with thousands of studies. Showing Scientific American.....and mainstream science sold to us........ to be wrong about plants and the affects from Climate Change. December 2020

Anybody that uses the term "carbon pollution" for carbon dioxide is either not a scientist or is a blatantly biased scientist playing politics.

Using that term, carbon pollution is scientifically, exactly like using the term hydrogen pollution to describe water vapor/H2O in the air.

We know that a water molecule is formed from 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen. Water/H2O is neither hydrogen or oxygen. It's a totally different compound/molecule, using atoms held together by covalent bonds. It's essential for all life on this planet.

Water

The water molecule has this basic geometric structure
Ball-and-stick model of a water molecule
Space filling model of a water molecule
  Oxygen, O
  Hydrogen, H

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Exactly the same with CO2/carbon dioxide.  It's formed from 2 atoms of oxygen and 1 atom of carbon. It is NOT oxygen and it certainly is not the solid, carbon. It's a totally different compound/molecule, with 1 C atom, covalently bonded with 2 O atoms. It's an essential GAS! At 426 parts per million, CO2 is less than 50% of the optimal level for most life(assuming that most animals eat plants or something that ate plants).

We know exactly why people use the ANTI science term,  carbon pollution for CO2

When you hear a source using that term or read it, you can be certain that they are either scientifically ignorant on this topic or intentionally using it to try to trick people into believing  that the beneficial gas, CO2 is actually a pollutant and is bad, like black carbon or solid carbon particulate matter in the air.

6 Reasons Why Life is Based on Carbon

Out of the 94 naturally occurring elements on the periodic table, it’s intriguing to ponder why life predominantly hinges on carbon. With such an array of elements available, what makes carbon so special that life doesn’t gravitate towards something else?

The choice of carbon as the primary building block for life is rooted in its unique chemical and physical properties. Here are some key reasons why life is based on carbon rather than other elements:

In summary, the lightweight characteristic of carbon isn’t just a minor footnote in its resume. It might have been one of the pivotal reasons carbon played a starring role in the story of life’s origin, offering it an atmospheric arena to forge the initial pathways to life as we know it.

The biggest reason to use renewables is not because of the fake climate crisis!

It's because, cheap, reliable and energy dense fossil fuels will run out some day and we need to conserve them!!!

This is the global estimate below, which is likely much too conservative.

Coal explained How much coal is left

https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/coal/how-much-coal-is-left.php

What is the amount of world coal reserves?

As of December 31, 2021, estimates of total world proved recoverable reserves of coal were about 1,161 billion short tons (or about 1.16 trillion short tons), and five countries had about 75% of the world's proved coal reserves.

  • The top five countries and their percentage share of world proved coal reserves as of December 31, 2021, were:2
  • United States22%
  • Russia15%
  • Australia14%
  • China14%
  • India11%

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

THE UNITED STATES

Six states had 77% of the demonstrated reserve base (DRB) of coal as of January 1, 2023:1

  • Montana—25%
  • Illinois—22%
  • Wyoming—12%
  • West Virginia—6%
  • Kentucky—6%
  • Pennsylvania—5%

Twenty six other states had the remaining 23% of the DRB.

We have some decent coal in the ground in this area of southwest Indiana.

Record Nuclear Power Production Expected in 2025

By Felicity Bradstock - Mar 08, 2025, 10:00 AM CST

  • The world is seeing a nuclear energy comeback, with record production projected for 2025 and new construction underway.
  • The debate centers around whether small modular reactors (SMRs) or extending the lifespan of existing plants is the most effective path forward.
  • Concerns about nuclear waste from SMRs and the high costs of new megaprojects like Plant Vogtle are driving discussions about revitalizing older reactors.

The Department of the Interior moves to restore coal industry

The Department of the Interior has reaffirmed its commitment to the Trump administration’s goal of AmericanEnergyDominance with a renewed focus on coal.

https://www.worldcoal.com/coal/15042025/the-department-of-the-interior-moves-to-restore-coal-industry/

Through an Executive Order by President Donald J. Trump, the Department will implement a series of bold policy moves and regulatory reforms to position coal as a cornerstone of the nation’s energy strategy by ensuring federally managed lands remain open and accessible for responsible energy development.

Department of the Interior Secretary, Doug Burgum, said:

“The Golden Age is here, and we are starting to ‘Mine, Baby, Mine’ for clean American coal. Interior is unlocking America’s full potential in energy dominance and economic development to make life more affordable for every American family, while showing the world the power of America’s natural resources and innovation.”

In support of the Trump administration's pursuit of Energy Dominance, the Department is actively working to revitalise the coal mining industry through a series of decisive actions. By expanding access to coal reserves, such as the recent approval of the Spring Creek mine expansion in Montana, and streamlining permitting processes, the administration is removing long-standing regulatory barriers that have undermined American coal production. These efforts support high-paying mining jobs and rural economies, while strengthening US energy independence by reducing reliance on foreign energy sources. Coal is a critical component of a secure, stable, and diversified American energy portfolio.
