Rd 4: amazing! I’ve seen the Masters every year back to 1970s and this was one of the best! 1986 had been my favorite and still may be but this was way up there. Rory bouncing back a number of times going back to the double bogeys in rd 1 makes this one of the most memorable tourneys ever! And he got King Kong off his back.

Justin Rose had an amazing tourney and especially today! What a comeback from the dead! He actually made Rory’s win that much more amazing.!!!

Rory won the career Grand Slam for the first time since Tiger did so many years ago. This is only the 6th such occurrence: Sarazen, Hogan, Nicklaus, Player, Tiger, Rory.

I was glued to the Masters too.

I was rooting for Rory all the way but felt bad for Rose who hasn't won the green jacket.

Rory chunking it into Rays creek on 13 was a strategic error in my view.  That shot should have been directed at the middle of the green.

But he did bounce back again and again.

'86 is still the best.  When Jack's eagle putt went in and the TV guy says "YES SIR!!!" ....

I still get goose bumps.

joj,

 1. Rory chunking it into Rae’s Creek on 13 on his 3rd shot after laying up (which itself made sense to me since he was ahead by several) is almost inexplicable with only a 100 yard shot. Also, he almost went into the water on 11 due to going with a too aggressive and risky line.

2. Yeah, Rose will run out of time soon.

3. Yep, that was the great Verne Lundquist in 1986 with one of his memorable calls over the years for those who don’t know.

but did he really win? Seems to be a lot of talk today about a missed application of the rules earlier in the tourney. The golf rules are unlike many sports {many rules in many sports are laughed at} and are really stiff and usually enforced very tightly. I doubt anything comes of it but the way the talk is today Rory did indeed break the rule and gained a shot that in the end won him the spot in the playoff and eventually the win.

Hey mc,

What?? You saying this is the very first time I heard anything at all about this. Holy cow if true!! Do you have a link to this? What did he do wrong?

I’m going to Google this and see what you’re referring to.

Hey mc,

I did a 10 minute search and found absolutely nothing about a rules infraction by Rory in the 2025 Masters. Zero. Nada. All I saw was something about him kicking sand in a bunker in 2009.

So, I have to ask: what the heck are you talking about?

all I know was that it was on sports talk radio. Something like the second day Rory sort of bumped a put and the ball moved and he hit it again. I am not a pro golfer but on the pro circuit they were saying that is major not a minor infraction. Now who knows for sure and it could well be a internet rumor that sports radio carried.
