The reason to start this thread was that while in the hospital, I picked up some sort of intestinal bug and had diarrhea 12 times with no ability to get out of bed.

I felt bad for the medical people having to constantly clean it up and worried that they would be exposed to the bacteria.

This confirms that bacteria from human feces IS launched into the air with toilet flushes and is above it without the flush so even if you don't physically come in contact with it, you are breathing some of it in from the air.
