The strike was pretty surgical (as opposed to Gaza which is rife with wanton destruction). It was a success from a military standpoint and every country in the mideast except possibly Yemen and Lebanon (who are Shiites) are breathing a sigh of relief, notwithstanding their voicing protests at Israel's aggression.
Israel may have bought 5-10 years of a nuclear free Iran, but at what cost? Throughout history the logic of initiating military action often results in unintended consequences. The majority of the Iranian people do not support the regime . But that could change if they rally around the flag. What if buying 10 years results in generational war?
My guess is that it doesn't escalate into full scale war.. But if I lived in TelAviv I would consider going on holiday.

I also agree with you on this being much different than Gaza.
Israel is not defending itself in Gaza by killing and starving, 2 million mostly children and women. Iran IS a legit threat potential threat to their existence.

Article 51 of the UN Charter recognizes the right of self-defense only in response to an “armed attack,” or when specifically authorized by the Security Council. Any other armed attack constitutes the crime of aggression in international law.
That means that the Israeli regime is using force against Iran unlawfully, in violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, prohibiting the threat or use of force, and, as such, is committing the crime of aggression. In this case, as a matter of law, the right to self-defense belongs to Iran, and decidedly not to Israel (or the U.S.).
Furthermore, contrary to the claims of the Israeli regime’s proxies in the West, international law does not allow for so-called “anticipatory self-defense” or so-called “pre-emptive strikes.”
This is quintessential aggression, considered the supreme crime in international law, and perpetrated by the same regime that is currently perpetrating the other crime of crimes, genocide. In this context, any U.S. complicity in these Israeli crimes renders the U.S. equally criminal.
The killing of scientists is a case in point. Only if a scientist is a member of the military (that is, not a civilian working for the military), then, in some circumstances, s/he may be a legitimate target. But most scientists, including the Iranian scientists, are civilians, even if they were working on weapons. (And the Iranian scientists are not even working on weapons, just nuclear energy.) As such, targeting them is entirely unlawful. And, needless to say, it is impermissible, as a matter of law, to target people in their homes just because they are scientists who might someday work on weapons. This, in simple terms, is the crime of murder.
The open lawlessness of the Israeli regime and its sponsors has wreaked havoc both on the countries and peoples of the Middle East, and on the very legitimacy of international law itself. Calling out the crimes of these states and pursuing accountability for them are essential to the cause of justice.
While the West obsesses about the risks of peaceful nuclear programmes, the true threat to global security at this moment in history rests not in reactors and centrifuges, but rather in aggression, genocide, and impunity. Containing these threats is a global imperative.

I support Israel’s right to exist and its right to defend itself. Hamas is a terrorist organization and the attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, was an outrage and a war crime. Hezbollah in Lebanon is also a terrorist organization, and Iran is a rogue state.
However, the atrocities committed by Israel’s enemies cannot be allowed to obscure the fact that Binyamin Netanyahu and his policies have condemned Israel to eventual collapse. Sadly, Israel as a Jewish state is now locked into a trajectory that it cannot survive in the long run. This has major implications for the future of American foreign policy in the region.
Primarily, this is because of the end of the two-state solution. Netanyahu has spent his entire long career working to annex the West Bank, and his settlement policies have succeeded to all intents and purposes in doing just that. It only remains for Netanyahu to one day make annexation official.

I could have been on board with this operation because Iran is an evil, terrorist state and MIGHT be developing weapons grade weapons at some point in the near future.
However, the serious issues that make this wrong in my opinion.
1. The source of this intelligence is the same one that lied about this same exact thing for 3 decades. He cannot be trusted as a pathological liar every time his mouth opens.
2. This same source has been conducting a genocide in Gaza for the 624 days since the horrific attack on his country on October 7, 2023. Since then, he has turned into a raging, closed minded pscyopath obsessed with getting revenge and killing 80% innocent people, mostly children and women. If he really believes what he says, then he's a completely delusional man that has lost his mind. If not, then he's a diabolical schemer and killer determined to eliminate everybody in Gaza so that Israel can claim it.
3. Netanyahu suddenly decided to bomb Iran 2 days before Trumps peace meeting. There is no other way to interpret that than it was intended to prevent a peaceful settlement. His getting away with cold blooded murder with 0 accountability in Gaza has embolden him to finally carry out his objective of 3 decades.
4. President Trump is clearly the follower here. He's on board with the genocide in Gaza, which started on Biden's watch but in fact after discussing it with Netanyahu, came up earlier this year with his own extremely offensive plan to get rid of all the Palestinians living there now, fix it up and let Jews move in after that. He continues to supply Netanyahu with massive bombs to kill people in Gaza.
5. Trump was trying to work with Iran before Netanyahu sabotaged that. Immediately after the bombing, the messaging from Trumps people was trying to distance themselves from that and being surprised.
6. US/Trumps intelligence from March contradicted that of Netanyahu.
7. Suddenly, Trump completely changed his tune. He stopped telling us the things that he claimed to stand for during the past year and even 2 weeks ago about our relationship with Iran and America first. Like a switch had been flipped in his head (by Netanyahu) he bombed Iran. Probably the most ANTI America first act that a president could do. Iran was doing ZERO to threaten our country. Iran was in fact, getting ready to meet with Trump to discuss an agreement a week ago. It's crystal clear that, like in Gaza he is Netanyahu's puppet only this is worse because WE did the completely unprovoked bombing so America is now at risk for profound blowback for violating international law to accommodate the objective of a long lived, pathologically lying psychopath that is drunk with his impunity in killing whoever he wants in the Middle East for whatever reason he uses to justify it because he has such a powerful military. Clearly, he manipulated our leader to join him for his war and now..........the United States just got betrayed by our president on his Ameria First promise because he's Netanyahu's puppet.
Take all that away. If OUR intelligence had told us that Iran was on the verge of a nuclear weapon. If Iran was threatening us or attacking us or our troops. If Trump had gotten elected by promising this or telling us this year that this was his plan(it was Netanyahu's). If the leader of Israel was any past leader and not Netanyahu and even if it was Netanyahu and he didn't do what he's still doing right now in Gaza and lied to us so many times in the past about Iran............then I could have supported this attack.
But none of that was the case!!!!
