Hamas reasserts control on streets of Gaza, turning guns on its rivals

JERUSALEM — They blindfolded eight men accused of collaborating with Israel, made them kneel and executed them at point-blank range on a busy street in Gaza City. They sent jeeps filled with fighters to pursue the Astal militia, whose leader said it coordinates with Israel and had recently taken up arms alongside other gangs.

Hamas may have stopped fighting Israel, but it has launched a new, violent campaign to reassert control over local families and militias that had challenged its power during the past two years of war — including those who, according to the leaders of two clans, had received support from Israel. Whether by carrying out armed raids in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip or holding public executions farther north in Gaza City, Hamas is trying to send a clear message that, after months of hiding from Israeli fire, the militant group is back as the only visible authority inside the Gaza Strip, according to rival militia leaders, Palestinian officials and political analysts.

Trump: Executions ‘didn’t bother me’

In contrast to the widespread condemnation from Palestinian leadership, US President Trump said he was unbothered by the videos.

“They did take out a couple of gangs that were very bad… and they killed a number of gang members,” Trump told reporters Tuesday night.

“That didn’t bother me much, to be honest with you. That’s okay. It’s a couple of very bad gangs. It’s no different than other countries like Venezuela [that have] sent their gangs [into the US],” he added.

Hamas publicly executed civilians in Gaza, yet Democrats stay alarmingly silent | Opinion

When a Republican brokers peace or when Hamas terrorists execute civilians publicly after they agreed to a peace deal, these people, once full of outspoken verve for Palestine, have nothing to say.

This started days ago, almost immediately after Trump claimed peace forever in the Middle East and that Hamas needed to disarm to finish the deal or else he would disarm them and they know he means it.

That was already incredibly delusional with his war ending, Middle East peace declaration but then when Hamas, starts executing people right away,  his spin of it of them restoring law and order in Gaza is galactically delusional.

I will continue to be extremely hopeful for peace but report realities, that include the fact that Netanyahu must go to greatly increase the chances for peace.

Sadly, Israel has done permanent damage to itself the past 2 years that will remain well after diabolical Netanyahu is replaced.

The MANY millions of new enemies and people that hate Israel because of Netanyahu's genocide, include people that want to destroy Israel and who will be trying to destroy Israel long after Netanyahu is gone. So sad but a no brainer consequence to a country that conducts itself this way for 2 years.

But it can always get worse or better from here even though we can't undo the past.

Peace in Gaza would be a BETTER path and we should hope for that!

It's mind boggling that President Trump tells more lies/gets his facts wrong than when he tells the truth/get his facts right! Even for this profession with so many morally bankrupt, dishonest politicians he still comes in rock bottom, dead last and well below even the lowest standards.

The graph below was from his 1st term. He is much worse so far in his 2nd term.

President Trump was already delusional in his 1st term. ONLY a delusional person would be capable of stating more than 30,000 false and misleading things in 4 years.

Now he is also suffering from dementia.

As much as I hope for peace in Gaza and for Trump to be successful there and for peace in the Middle East, what Israel has done the past 2 years has crossed over a bridge too far that has been burned behind them, never to return to what things were like before October 7, 2023.

It’s crazy to think there won’t be long term blowback, serious consequences for a 2 year genocide of Palestinians.

There are no international legal authorities that have the power to arrest and try Netanyahu for his countless war crimes against Palestinians.

However, one would have to be very naïve to think that 2 billion Muslims in the world will just forgive this and go on to a new mentality of peace with Israel.

The relationships between Israel and its neighbors was bad before this. Just imagine how much worse it will be now.

I‘m not Muslim or from the Middle East and this has outraged me as somebody that cares about humanity.

However, for many of the 2 billion Muslims on the planet this is much More personal.

It would be against human nature and history to expect Arabs in the Middle East to just let bygones be bygones and move forward without a burning desire for vengeance to seek justice for what Netanyahu and Israel have done the past 2 years.

Trump is the same guy starting a war with Venezuela and killing people on boats in cold blood, violating International law and human rights,  so I would be shocked if the Nobel Peace Prize committee will not be turned off by that and a dozen other ANTI peace character traits that define him.

Including renaming the Department of Defense, the Department of WAR.

I remain hopeful that things can evolve in the right direction in Gaza but lasting peace between Arabs and Jews in the Middle East as Trump has declared he has accomplished is completely ignoring all the relevant facts, long history and indoctrinated hate from both those 2 groups that is GREATER NOW than ever before.

Maybe he will end the war in Ukraine before then????

That's why I voted for him. If that happens, he deserves recognition.

Or maybe, instead  he'll cause a nuclear war?

Or maybe, by this time next year he'll be claiming to have stopped 15 wars

I've never known a person to get this award that spent so much time campaigning for themselves with embellishments and lies to get it.

If we look at all the past winners of this award, they are almost the complete opposite type of people that Donald Trump is. I would say that there have been many,  much more worthy people and organizations (like doctors without borders in 2025)  However, go ahead and read the past winners and why they won it. They are exactly the opposite of Donald Trump.

However, this award is political and can go to some people you would never imagine.

Al Gore and the IPCC got it in 2007 for helping to save the world from climate change.

https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/peace/2007/summary/

Just imagine their mindset to give Gore this award and use it to imagine what they think of Donald Trump's complete opposite  position on this same topic that they cherish enough to award the Nobel Peace Prize over.   Their mindset would be that Donald Trump is DESTROYING THE PLANET.

As long as Netanyahu is in charge, real progress will be hindered. Unfortunately, there is no going back from the permanent damage these 2 years have caused to the relationship between Israel and its adversaries in the Middle East. It's delusional to think that Trump will wave a magic MAGA wand and suddenly, Arabs and Jews in the Middle East will forget about generations of indoctrinated hate that for the past 2 year have been juiced up by a horrific genocide, intentionally caused by hatred for Palestinians.

Like the Palestinians and their Muslim/Arab comrades will just say "No problem-o, we forgive Israel and want to live in peace with them"

I am telling you with absolute certainty that the Arab hate for Israel went UP the past 2 years and if anything, could be close to the worst in history. However, some of the previous wars and events were pretty bad. After October 7, 2023, the same can be said about how Israel feels towards its enemies, specifically Hamas. Israel wants Hamas dead or gone for good reasons ….and Hamas is still there.

A  MAGA command from a pathological thinker, though he's the most powerful man in the world is not going to magically make all that go away.

i continue to be hopeful for a miracle but remain tethered to the stone cold realities that define human behavior!
