Hamas reasserts control on streets of Gaza, turning guns on its rivals
JERUSALEM — They blindfolded eight men accused of collaborating with Israel, made them kneel and executed them at point-blank range on a busy street in Gaza City. They sent jeeps filled with fighters to pursue the Astal militia, whose leader said it coordinates with Israel and had recently taken up arms alongside other gangs.
Hamas may have stopped fighting Israel, but it has launched a new, violent campaign to reassert control over local families and militias that had challenged its power during the past two years of war — including those who, according to the leaders of two clans, had received support from Israel. Whether by carrying out armed raids in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip or holding public executions farther north in Gaza City, Hamas is trying to send a clear message that, after months of hiding from Israeli fire, the militant group is back as the only visible authority inside the Gaza Strip, according to rival militia leaders, Palestinian officials and political analysts.
Thanks cutworm, great post! The war is NOT over!

In contrast to the widespread condemnation from Palestinian leadership, US President Trump said he was unbothered by the videos.
“They did take out a couple of gangs that were very bad… and they killed a number of gang members,” Trump told reporters Tuesday night.
“That didn’t bother me much, to be honest with you. That’s okay. It’s a couple of very bad gangs. It’s no different than other countries like Venezuela [that have] sent their gangs [into the US],” he added.

This started days ago, almost immediately after Trump claimed peace forever in the Middle East and that Hamas needed to disarm to finish the deal or else he would disarm them and they know he means it.
That was already incredibly delusional with his war ending, Middle East peace declaration but then when Hamas, starts executing people right away, his spin of it of them restoring law and order in Gaza is galactically delusional.
The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel has allowed more aid to flow into Gaza – but obstacles remain, particularly in the north

I will continue to be extremely hopeful for peace but report realities, that include the fact that Netanyahu must go to greatly increase the chances for peace.
Sadly, Israel has done permanent damage to itself the past 2 years that will remain well after diabolical Netanyahu is replaced.
The MANY millions of new enemies and people that hate Israel because of Netanyahu's genocide, include people that want to destroy Israel and who will be trying to destroy Israel long after Netanyahu is gone. So sad but a no brainer consequence to a country that conducts itself this way for 2 years.
But it can always get worse or better from here even though we can't undo the past.
Peace in Gaza would be a BETTER path and we should hope for that!

As of 7 October 2025, over 70,100 people (68,172 Palestinians[4][9] and 1,983 Israelis[c]) have been reported killed in the Gaza war according to the Gaza Health Ministry (GHM) and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as 217 journalists and media workers,[46][d] 120 academics,[49] and over 224 humanitarian aid workers, a number that includes 179 employees of UNRWA.[50] Scholars have estimated 80% of Palestinians killed are civilians.[6][5][7][51] A study by OHCHR, which verified fatalities from three independent sources, found that 70% of the Palestinians killed in residential buildings or similar housing were women and children

It's mind boggling that President Trump tells more lies/gets his facts wrong than when he tells the truth/get his facts right! Even for this profession with so many morally bankrupt, dishonest politicians he still comes in rock bottom, dead last and well below even the lowest standards.
The graph below was from his 1st term. He is much worse so far in his 2nd term.
President Trump was already delusional in his 1st term. ONLY a delusional person would be capable of stating more than 30,000 false and misleading things in 4 years.
Now he is also suffering from dementia.

As much as I hope for peace in Gaza and for Trump to be successful there and for peace in the Middle East, what Israel has done the past 2 years has crossed over a bridge too far that has been burned behind them, never to return to what things were like before October 7, 2023.
It’s crazy to think there won’t be long term blowback, serious consequences for a 2 year genocide of Palestinians.
There are no international legal authorities that have the power to arrest and try Netanyahu for his countless war crimes against Palestinians.
However, one would have to be very naïve to think that 2 billion Muslims in the world will just forgive this and go on to a new mentality of peace with Israel.
The relationships between Israel and its neighbors was bad before this. Just imagine how much worse it will be now.
I‘m not Muslim or from the Middle East and this has outraged me as somebody that cares about humanity.
However, for many of the 2 billion Muslims on the planet this is much More personal.
It would be against human nature and history to expect Arabs in the Middle East to just let bygones be bygones and move forward without a burning desire for vengeance to seek justice for what Netanyahu and Israel have done the past 2 years.

Most of US allies consider Netanyahu a war criminal for his genocide in Gaza and have been emphatically condemning him for 2 years for his activity in Gaza.
After 2 years of condemning this activity, they are going to participate in it??
They want a 2 state solution.
If Trump sends US troops in, it would be insane. As if Israel, the past 2 years wasn't doing enough???
Trump has already lost all credibility in most countries in the world. However, Israel is one of the few countries that love him. Can you guess why???

‘Things have gotten worse.’ More than a week after the ceasefire, Palestinians in Gaza say they have seen no change in their lives as Israel continues to restrict aid deliveries. Only two Israeli-controlled crossings are open, while Rafah remains closed.

The UN's top legal body, the International Court of Justice, has said Israel has an obligation to ensure the basic needs of civilians in Gaza are met. It has also addressed Israeli claims that parts of the UN's Palestinian aid agency involve Hamas members.
