Congratulations, Dodgers, on winning the World Series for the 2nd year in a row. That hadn’t occurred since the Yankees did so in the late 90s!

They had to win games 6 and 7 in Toronto to come back from being down 3-2!

Game 7, itself, was an absolute classic with Toronto up 3-0 early. There was a bench clearing brawl in this game. LA then chipped away at their deficit but were still down 4-2 going to the 8th. LA then scored 1 in the top of the 8th bringing them to within 1 (4-3) going to the top of the 9th. I think there was 1 out when Rojas hit a HR to tie the game in the 9th!

In the bottom of the 9th:

-Toronto gets runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.

-Then LA goes to their bullpen and brings in superstar Yamamoto, who had just won game 6 on 96 pitches in 6 innings the day before as a starter! By the way, he also won game 2 with a complete game, a relative rarity these days.

- But the great Yamamoto hits his first batter to load the bases with 1 out!! A sacrifice fly could win it.

-What happened next was amazing. First of all, next batter hit a bouncer to the HR hitting hero off the top of the 9th, 2nd baseman Rojas. He off balance had the wherewithal to immediately throw to home and the catcher was BARELY able to step on the plate JUST IN TIME to force that runner out!

-Now 2 out with bases loaded. The next batter hit a deep fly to the warning track. Two outfielders nearly collided going for the ball (one ran in and was trying to call off the other) and he somehow was able to hang on for out 3!! Thus, Yamamoto luckily got out of the inning unscathed.

-Extra innings: Dodgers men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out top of 10th. Walk to load bases with 1 out. But Toronto was able to get out of this with nobody scoring.

-Bottom of the 10th: Toronto again didn’t score on Yamamoto.

-So, they went to the 11th in game 7 for the first time since 1997 and only the third time in WS history!

-Top of 11th: Will Smith hits a solo HR. Now LA 5-4 for their first lead of the game!

-Bottom of 11th: Toronto got men on 1st and 3rd with one out. A single would tie it and a double could win it. What happened? Yamamoto got the batter to hit a broken bat grounder for a double play!! Game over! Yamamoto had 2 and 2/3 scoreless innings and won his 3rd game of this WS!!

This was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. This may have been the best/most enjoyable since the legendary Rick Camp game of July 4-5, 1985!

I watched every pitch.  A classic!!  When my team isn't in it I always root for the city whose fans have the longest time since last winning a championship.  Heartbreaking loss for Toronto fans.

Dang, Larry!

Those description were up there with an elite baseball play by play sportscaster/analyst!

It was extremely enjoyable to read.

I was rooting for Don Mattingly  get his first world series championship ring because he’s from Evansville and we worked out at the same gym in the early 80s.

I coached my son, Quinn in our baseball program, at Scott and we played Preston Mattinglys teams from Highland in some All star tournaments after the regular season.

One year, he made it in for a game at the Golfmore baseball tournament.

Everybody was surrounding him constantly to talk to him or get autographs.
i didnt want to bug him but after the game, I went towards him and as he saw me, he yelled out “Hey Mike, how’s it going!”

He remembered me from the gym and being on tv for 11 years.

I also got saw dust and horse manure, from a horse stable for my garden that he bought for his ex wife, Kim back in the 1990s.

We lived a bit down the road from them In the city of Darmstadt at that time.

The town had a strict regulation about how tall a brick wall surrounding a residence could be. They exempted him because he was a celebrity and he built a 10 foot brick wall around the 5:million dollar house he built,in Darmstadt.

He had,his own gym in that house.

He always seemed like a genuinely nice person! Too bad his degenerative,  lower back issues shortened his career Or he would be in the hall of fame..
