Like many Americans right now, my wife and I are following the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping. We‘re horrified at this act and feel tremendous empathy for her poor family.
However, making it WORSE is Donald Trump, the person that has shown 0 empathy for others in his life, not even under aged girls in a sex trafficking ring…..hijacking this awful situation to try to make himself look good.

He is extremely unreliable, inconsistent, exaggerates/makes things up , driven entirely by self serving interests and not trained in law enforcement protocol for messaging to the public in a very complicated case.
Some of the stuff that he’s stating could actually mess up the investigation and get this lady killed.
He absolutely should be leaving the statements to the authorities and the family and not opening up his damaging big mouth to tell us Donald Trump, probably fake inside information about them getting close to solving the case which, if history plays out will turn out to be, just more self serving Donald Trump bs.
I hadn’t necessarily intended to watch the Super Bowl halftime show as I often don’t. However, I happened to have it on and I started watching it. Without having any expectations, the performer, Puerto Rican “Bad Bunny” wasn’t bad at all. To the contrary, and despite my knowing very little Spanish, I actually enjoyed the overall performance!
Only after this I found out there was a para-Halftime Show starring Kid Rock as an alternative protest type of show, one that Trump encouraged folks to watch instead. Leave it to Trump to encourage still more divisiveness.
I saw later that Trump said Bad Bunny was terrible. I thought he didn’t want people watching it. But why did he? How does that make any sense?

He says he’s met Trump a bunch of times and that he’s not a racist. He thinks a lot is being made of nothing:

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been swamped with chess stuff, having just finished a tournament and having 3 more coming up in Feb/Mar.
I don't waste my time on social media reading and debating with people who are NOT LISTENING OR READING a word that I post or that anybody else posts who disagrees with them.
Same thing with the fake climate crisis........on both sides.
I post things here based on authentic facts with the objective of enlightening people NOT proving that I'm right or smarter than anybody else and with the realization that metmike is the one learning the most by far.
Whether its from posts from others pointing out things that I didn't know or from me fact checking other people or from me always objectively fact checking myself before posting things here and discovering that I was wrong BEFORE posting on the topic.
The biggest turn off to me is the lack of respect that people have for words on a screen that challenge their belief system. No matter that they came from an actual human being that has feelings and the right to an opinion, even a wrong opinion.
I will aggressively ATTACK (call out) diabolical people in our country and groups like MAGA that follow them. However, when human beings in that group post here, I will treat them with respect.
I actually post on Twitter and Facebook a couple times a month but its something with indisputable facts and I never go back 1 time to read any responses and have yet to respond because I have no idea if there are any responses.
That sounds odd but, unlike my forum here which is my priority and I want to engage with others that respond and especially encourage people to disagree with my views.
With Facebook and Twitter, there are thousands of people that have my view and thousands that completely disagree and after each discussion, more often than not, they feel even stronger than they did about whatever opinions they had before the discussion.
But that's me. I try to maximize my time and efforts to enlighten people. Others might enjoy having long lived arguments that go nowhere as a form of their entertainment.

Personally, although I found it entertaining to some extent and appreciated the talent, its not my type of entertainment.
I do appreciate a ton of instrumental music that has NO words and some music with words in a foreign language but ONLY because of the instruments.
However, with the songs used yesterday, the words were a key part of the songs and since they were in a language that I don't understand, I thought it was a bad idea to use this entertainer if the objective was to appeal to THE MOST PEOPLE.
If the objective was to make political points, they were successful. I feel the Super Bowl is not the best place to make political points that turn off people, who are NOT going to change their mind but instead will take away from their enjoyment of the event and it having the 100% opposite impact.
Instead of changing minds or inviting new people to embrace their political statements, it does the exact opposite. You force your opinion down the throats of people who cherish the event/ Super Bowl tradition and want to watch football but disagree with the politics.
I strongly share the opinion of that being expressed during the half time show, so my thoughts on this are not because I'm somebody that doesn't appreciate HAVING THAT VIEW.
The half time show just divided the country even more!
